[ROM] - 1/28 - CleanROM GBE 1.6 - Base: OTA 2.01.605.11

Re: [ROM] - 1/12 - CleanROM 1.5 - Battery like no other... Perfor

I can't seem to get it to stop boot looping. I FINALLY got into the wireless & network settings, and was able to set it to "CDMA only", did a reboot, but still looping. I keep getting "Process system not responding" popup.

I'm currently trying the *#*#4636#*#* solution, but I can't keep the dialer up long enough before it freezes.

I'm not as smart as you guys I'm gonna need someone to talk me thru this over the phone I got stuck this morning and just gave up. So if someone has time and would like to help a guy out via a phone call I sure would appreciate it.

I can help you out. But not over the phone.

You can come to my Chat Box at scottsroms.com. Myself or a Mod are usually in there to help people.

What should the 1.5 ROM kernel version be? Mine is saying 2.6.25-13xxx but built in OCT of 2011 and I would think at least the build date would change.

Why do feel the build date of the kernel should chang?

Well, I figured that you're actually compiling a new kernel with various options/modules enabled/disabled just like on a X86 platform; therefore the build date would be updated (generally uname -a and the date).

I assume that's not the case? Is it a recompile of the kernel and its modules? or is boot.img akin to initrd?

I've built a few hundred linux kernels over the years, but I'm just not familiar with phone development.

Any insight is always appreciated.

Yes, you are right about the build dates but I am not building the kernel, only setting parameters for the CPU and kernel via scripting.

The stock kernel on this devices is really good kernel build. I have not recompiled.

Scott thanked and donated. You and all the dev's are an awesome bunch and your contributions are greatly appreciated. :D

Scott, I installed 1.5 last night and everything seems to be working great. It's great to get rid of all the bloat. This was my first ROM and you and the other developers on this forum (and xda) made it easy for noobs like me.

Thanks for your all work. I made a small donation for your efforts.

Got 1.5.5 last night, looking good. No issues noted.

I did it wrong the 1st time, loaded the 1.5.5 over my stock (forgot to wipe ). Seemed like it worked mostly anyway but there were some quirks (to say the least).

Went back and did the wipe and reload, all went well and have been setting things up again. Bit of a pain, what? LOL.

Anyway, will probably just wait for ICS now that I've removed the bloat and things are much CleanRom-er.

Donation on its way.

How easy is it update? I know there will more than likely be an updated version.

Well I'm pretty new to android, but I'm a bit of a techie so it really wasn't that bad. I guess if something goes wrong it would be. There's a lot of info here and a lot of help, so dive right in.

Ok, I'm on 1.5.5 after completely wiping. I'm not seeing this keyboard...I really wanted the arrow keyboard. Still showing stock keyboard.

I don't suppose it would be possible for someone to post detailed instructions for us somewhat android challenged. I can get everything on htc's site, up to the part where we are suppose to use the command prompt to find fastboot. It does not put fastboot into the android folder, It puts it into the downloads folder. I drag it to the android folder but when I use the command prompt I can't find it. Not sure if I am using the right symbols and spaces in the prompt or just not in the right folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Same here. I'm new to the Android world and have read until my eyes are sore. A pictured tutorial would be fantastic. Is anyone out there willing to provide a true step by step (from completely stock phone, to backing files up before or after root, rooting, and then to completed ROM install)? It would even be nice to have one of those for the CleanTool thread.
