Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

ok i wont solely rely on QS but what is it that makes this rom better then the other roms on the board.

Thats an age old question that has no answer other than...

My ROM is fast stable and for the most part bug free. One minor issue may be with music player but that is an easy fix.

Nick7's ROM is also fast and stable...

ROMS are purely preference. What I like in a ROM is what I built. What Nick7 likes in a ROM is what he built. All preference.

I don't use this rom, but I WILL say that some of us have a special place in our hearts for Quick Boot. I will ALWAYS use it. It brings back memories of my first venture into root with a Samsung Moment. lol

This is the best looking ROM ive seen. a little to stock for my taste, and no notification power widget was a total deal breaker for me but looks beyond great runs pretty dam fast. i love the lg animation and preloaded file expert...all the other managers can go file themselves...file expert works great and looks better.

What exactly are you referring to when you say "no notification power widget" Can you link to me to it so I can take a look? I am always open to suggestions.

I think what On3wheels means by no notification power widget is when you pull down the notification bar on other roms there are shortcuts to for instance Brightness, Bluetooth, Wifi and so on. The shortcuts would be where it says sROM on your rom. I put up a picture.

Gotcha... There are apps that you can install to do that....

Here is a link to one: https://market.android.com/details?id=karson.app.SettingsBar&feature=search_result

I have tested it and know it works.

Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

some insight into this rom after a full 36 hours of usage.

i was overclocked and ran into 2 random reboots and 1 freeze.

lowered the clock speed to about 805 and they have went away.

battery life works great, everything seems as peppy as can be for this little phone, to be honest not too far off my epic i just broke. some things are a little slower but those phones are completely different and for me to compare such a power house phone with this "entry level" phone with a overlocked clean rom is pretty amazing.

will continue rocking this rom,
i still cant accept how well made this phone feels, its solid, and doesnt feel cheap what so ever.

that app does not work for me, it shows up and looks like its running, but whenever i try to click on it the notification bar closes like normal and it doesnt do anything.
uninstalling it.

even tried with a reboot, same thing.

Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

Please do not flash this ROM at this time. You will have major issues with V9 Baseband. You should use KDZ to update to VD baseband and then flash this ROM (after you re-root and re-install custom recovery).

Unfortunately this rom will not work with my ext4 partition. But I do want to ask, where can I get your boot screen. It's COOL.

Which one? The LG Boot screen? or the Spinning blue android?

The LG animation is compiled into the kernel. I had to extract it form an Optimus P kernel then implant into picasticks-7. Not hard to do if you know how (but beyond the scope of this thread).

The Spinning blue android can be grabbed directly from the zip in /data/local/bootanimation.zip

Sorry, forgot to say the spinning blue android. Thanks

It's not technically a ROM issue, it's a kernel issue. The picasticks-07 kernel does not include (working) ext4 support despite what the release notes say. I got around this same problem with Reborn ROM by flashing Zefie's latest kernel (the AnyKernel experimental version), which got the phone to recognize the ext4 partition.

It's worth a shot, but YMMV and other standard disclaimers apply since I'm not running sROM.

Any of the XioniaRedux releases should work as well since it's based directly off latest Xionia source. Not guaranteed to work with LG-based ROMs though. But still worth a shot.

Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

Nice ROM, enjoying it so far. The only thing I would like to see changed is the notification window. When downloading/installing an app the notification is white. Then when it finishes it is black along with the see thru black notification window which makes it a lil gnarly to read.

Personally I've never liked the see thru notification windows....is there really a need for me to see whats behind my window lol. Is there some image or file I could edit to make the notification window flat black? And maybe just for giggles I'd like to add an android toon to the bottom corner like the blue touch theme for reborn =) Just a simple white android outline like the one in the pic below would be sweet....obviously something better would be more awesome but i'm no artist lol.

EDIT: Changed pic to link to save space.

Maybe in the next relasese I will mod the pull down or give an option to make it more opaque in the form of flashable zip.

Thanks for the feedback.

kingdavidbaker,

FYI, that blueTouch I cooked for you to use with Shell Rom, should work with this rom too. Just make a Nandroid first, since I have not tested it.
