ROM ALERT: Baked Snack v1.6 [update6]

hey hero_over, any plans for "baked" froyo soon?

the minute a kernel source code drops from froyo i will be turning my moms pc into a temporary dev station so we will instantly have a truly amazing rom. but as of now my bc is busted and im awaiting parts from newegg. and froyo is still very buggy so im gunna hold of until it can be "fully baked"

edit: can a friendly mod change my status on the forums? I dont like being called an android nanite lol

Nah, figured once I get down to the 3rd best kernel, I'm not really gaining much (if anything) vs. extreme kernel. I like playing around with these roms and kernels a bit, but I don't have enough time or patience once I got past a few steps. Also, now that hero is off xda and the downloads are not on his site, there's no support anymore for fixing bugs. ACS has a new rom out tonight, and their developers practically live on XDA. Solutions may go over my head a bit, but they've always tried to help.

With froyo coming out and the roms and kernels changing daily, I value stability first, knowing that there will probably be 2-3 updates on roms or kernels this weekend anyway.

just an fyi. all my kernels use an altered voltage scaling method. my kernels are the only ones that do this and i can guarantee much better battery over any other kernel. unless theres some crazy new battery patch that makes android itself use less battery. but as far as power draw from your cpu. mine is hands down the best. not even bragging. but i see other peoples githubs so i kno this. even works for all has great battery. and if you locked up during a call make sure you are not using any profiles in setcpu. sounds to me like your having a screen off profile. and also try using 1.2ghz instead of 1.3. on ultimate and step 2 even i have experience lockups on 1.3 and thats because ive linked the voltages of 1.2 and 1.3. will look into making a seperate bracket for 1.3ghz

Sorry to bother...BEFORE I install the Froyo rom, what app should I use to backup my data? I used clockworkmod, but that seems to be the entire ROM that I backed up...
What about Contacts? Will Titanium bring that over too?

Titanium backs everything up but to be on the safe side I also do a backup using MyBackup Pro and of course google sync for contacts and I also use Lookout. U can't ever be too safe in my opinion

Titanium wont backup contacts. Everyone knows to use Google to save ur contacts. When u save a contact, hit Google instead of phone. So when u sign back into Google when u try and use the market it'll sync it all up for you.
If you want to save ur contacts without doing Google, go to your contacts hit menu, hit export to sd card. Keep in mind to get them back do the Same thing except hit import.

Well, that was exactly it. I had a screen off profile in setcpu that was 200-400 that must have been causing it. I reinstalled yesterday to check it out and step 2 is working now. I may try ultimate again later, though last time, that crashed in just a few seconds, so I don't think it had to do with setcpu profiles. I'll take a break from EE / Phoenix and see how battery life goes.

Thanks for helping Hero. This was probably an obvious fix to you, but I wasn't going to figure it out. This is why a developer being on XDA or this forum helps us noobs. I hope you'll be easily reachable when you release a froyo rom, since I'm sure it will be good.

I thought ultimate had the best battery, but I think I had better battery life on extreme kernel. How long does it take to caibrate ur battery? 1 day? Or couple days? Igot my battery to 100%, wiped battery stats, let it go to zero battery. Is it calibrated right after that? Maybe there is something I'm missing?

I'm about to attempt to install BS 1.6 over Syndicate again, so I need to be sure what to do. Boot into clockwork Wipe Dalvik 3x, do a factory wipe/reset 3x, Flash the B.S 1.6 rom and also flash the kernel and then reboot then there will be no trace of syndicate left?

Nevermind wiped everything 3 times, data, dalvik and cache and B.S installed perfectly, so first see how good the battery is with the babystep kernel then upgrade if I want more life?

all you need to do is charge to 100, wipe battery stats. let it drop to 0. charge to 100 and do your thing. supposedly itll take a day or two of use for it to actually be calibrated. but honestly i dont see a difference either way.

but heros kernels do save you battery. unless you were using xtreme at 1.2 ghz then it may save you battery. i used it at 1.6 and heros 1.2ghz saves me battery. i can tell when i check using juice plotter at the graph when i wasnt using my phone. heros will be horizontal. and xtreme will be diagnol

and ox, if you look under about phone and it says "hero over baked snack" instead of "xtreme kernel rum powered" then your good

Thanks a lot shaun you are very helpful, everything checked out in "about phone" I'll calibrate the battery over the next few days to see how good the life is

how do u remove the ad blocker? It is keeping me from using audiogalaxy. Can I use the adfree app to allow audiogalaxy to work?

Edit: nevermind downloading adfree android from the market. Updated it. Rebooted phone and wham it worked.

So is it different if it runs at 1.3? Extreme kernel saved me way more battery lol

Yes. If your running xtreme at 1.3 its way different then running it at 1.6. I always ran it at 1.6 so of course using baked at 1.3 is saving me

1.3 freezes my phone, what speed is everyone else running baked snack at? Step 3 froze my phone so I'm using worksforall

My phone doesn't like 1.3Ghz at any voltage. When I ran Baked Snack I had it at 1.2GHz with the Step 2 kernel (Ultimate would freeze my phone during games).

I couldn't even get ultimate to run. It'd freeze no matter what. But I think I had it at 1.3
Step 2 would work at 1.3 but it'd randomly freeze more often towards the end. I ended up just going 1.2 with step 2 but now I'm a froyo man haha

I apologize immensely.

What is the ROM based off? Android 2.1 or 2.2?

If it is 2.1, then i need to use Odin to flash back to a DI8 stock rom,

If 2.2, then DK28?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Baked Snack v.1.6 is based off of Eclair 2.1 (DI18).

Whatever you current status is, make sure your on Eclair 2.1 (stock from factory) then root/clockwork and flash Baked Snack.
