[ROM] Android Open Kang Project- Jelly Bean Style

Also, reading the thread at RootzWiki reveals a gamut of issues with the latest build. I'd suggest holding off until the next one.

From all the reviews, it sounds like AOKP is not delivering with performance or features compared to some of the other ROMs out there. Has AOKP become old hat? I want to wait it out so I don't have to DF crackflash going from ROM to ROM. But, if they don't start adding more features soon, I may need to stray as well.
In it's defense, my phone is really stable. Can't remember a lockup or app crash since updating last night. My screen looks nice as well with the simple color controls as well.

I've been nothing but butter since flashing build 1 two nights ago, and combined with the latest Franco nightly I'm getting great battery life. Remember, it'll take a while for AOKP to rebuild its feature set from ICS. For me, the wait it worth it. They're the most stable ROM I've ever used.

Ended up switching back to my 7-29 backup. With the 8-1 version, my phone disconnected data during phone calls while on LTE. Confirmed that this isn't an issue on 7-29 version.

I saw it mentioned in the rootz thread and confirmed there is something borked currently with keeping 4G data connected while on phone calls. Doesn't make a difference to me but yeah if you need that you'll want to wait til the dev gets a chance to fix that.

i certainly hope AOKP doesnt fall behind the pack in performance/robustness of the ROM. at this point, it isnt really up to par with even the late version ports (ie. JB 3.x) IMHO.

that being said, i have faith in the unicorn. i wonder when well see a JRO03H AOKP build

It already has imo, but these are test builds, so expectations should be adjusted.

Playing with Codename right now, gonna stay here till AOKP gets upright again. (Ignorance is Bliss)

Speaking of Codename....

The AOKP folks decided to make an IRC bot.... the bot's name is Blackdroid. So any new releases for AOKP will come from Blackdroid. LOL.

He did give credit this time where credit was due... LOL. Still.................. Shouldn't be forgiven.

In my experience, if you're a developer and all you do is kang a bunch of stuff, mix it up, and then throw it out there, then you have little to no actual development talent. It's best to go with the original.

Heck, look at the JB roms. Most of them worth a salt are now using CM10 as a base (which, presumably, CNA does, although they can do what Liquid does and kang from AOKP). There's no way they're actually better than CM10, because think about it--if they weren't talented enough to write it themselves, then how the hell can they legitimately improve upon it?

From what I gather, the "new" CNA is simply CM10 + some AOKP features. Which is nice, I guess. But not only do I want features, I want stability, and quite frankly, I want the best. If you have to resort to kanging everything, then clearly your work is never, ever going to be that--at least for me.

But hey, different strokes. The beauty of Android, humanity, and the interwebs.

(Disclosure: I have yet to look at CNA and will not be looking at it past entertaining myself with the drama of the developer's past misdeeds coming back to haunt him/her/it.)

You should see the new irc bot AOKP has. :).

Why's that? lol

I think I'm off AOKP until they get their stuff together. The litany of issues with the latest release is (1) terrifying, (2) extremely disappointing, and (3) shocking.

For now, they're playing catchup and maybe they're rushing, maybe they're not, but they're so far behind in polish/stability/speed it's depressing. I've retired by Cruzerlite AOKP case until a suitable AOKP build comes out :).

They had named their bot, Blackdroid... but they just changed the bot's name to SwaggerBot.

And I agree, I'm holding off on AOKP for a bit until things get ironed out a bit more, especially with battery life.
