[ROM] Android Open Kang Project- Jelly Bean Style

Spotify has a higher bitrate, if not the highest bitrate for a music player out there, (320!) That has to be set at that rate in settings, I'm almost positive that you can set that lower. That might help, and do you use WiFi when playing Spotify? Because of the high quality (bitrate) sound of Spotify I exclusively use WiFi when playing it.

Nah, this was on the road when the signal would drop in a dead area. For some reason Play Music plays better in such circumstances.

Now I am converting to the Kang once again! They seemed to have polished a lot during their preview builds... Glad to see Nightlies are starting.

Be sure to long press the swagger toggle ;).

I've had them with one app--Spotify. This has been an issue for me for a while with the JB roms (port or otherwise); under "heavy" signal load (i.e. it requires/using a lot of data, but then I go to a deadzone) it'll freeze up and reboot directly to the boot animation.

Have not tried it on the "official" nightly, but it pretty much happens like clockwork--regardless of stock, trinity, or franco kernel.

Well it wasn't the kernel. I had another freeze and reboot to the boot animation now on trinity. This seems to happen when my screen is off. I hit the power button to turn the screen on and nothing happens until the boot animation appears. Annoying. Is there some setting that may be causing this?

AOKP backup for JB is coming out shortly according to Roman.

I'm hoping one day he will make an updater app if the folks at aokp decide not to use goo.im for the JB builds.

Im trying to figure that out now. I have like 10 GAPPS packages on my phone/computer. Kejar/CM10/AOKP. The Gapps are more confusing then the ROM downloads since alot of them are interchangeable. If i find out ill report back.

If you go by the original post on the Rootz thread the updated GAPPS are the 7-23 AOKP. Since the OP on Rootz recommends those i would use those myself. I know the OP here lists the 7-26 CM10 zip, In theory they should all work.

I listed the wrong file. They are the 7/23 gapps.

so can someone post the JB bootloader link on the OP or post it, I am collecting files to have on hand to unlock/root and flash the wife GNx and want to have everything on hand before I start so I don't waste a lot of time searching for files.

That happens, for me, when signal drops and it freezes or overloads, ie the Spotify thing.

Check the Jelly Belly op at RootzWiki.

So anyone have any ideas why I can't seem to change the boot animation (while on any ROM)? If I put my .zip file in /data/local, it still plays the flashed ROM's boot animation, but if I replace the one in /system/media with my .zip, it just plays the "android" boot animation.

Is it maybe because, while moving the .zip via ES File Explorer, I first delete the /system/media bootanimation.zip before pasting the one I want in there? I tried just pasting mine in there without deleting the original (thinking it would just overwrite it), but ES File Explorer gave me a "warning" that the two folders would be merged (rather than the old one just being overwritten), and I figured I probably shouldn't do that, as that would probably make my boot animation all wonky.

It should not still play the old one; putting something in data/local completely overrides anything in system/media. Are you sure you have "read/write" access and not just "read/open" access? Are you sure the filenames are "bootanimation.zip"? It must be that exactly or else it won't work :).

So...is separated volume controls not included in this ROM. This is the only other thing I am noticing that's missing besides the lockscreen targets. I am running P7.

They're there. Make sure you check it off in the settings, and then use the volume toggle--see the little settings/menu button on the slider? Tap that!

The file name is definitely bootanimation.zip. How do you check whether or not you have "read/write" access (and if now, how do you enable it)? I just assumed, being rooted, and being that ES lets me move files around, that I would've had read/write access. I can place the .zip file in the folders, it just doesn't seem like it gets recognized, for whatever reason. o.O

Go to the settings of ES--ensure you have root access and make sure that you can read/write. It's in the list of settings, just try to find something that sounds like it (I use Root Explorer and haven't used ES in a while, but those features were there the last time I used it).

In ES, under root settings, both of the following options are (and have been) checked:

"Root Explorer"
"Mount File system" (Mount / , /system as writable)

I see it now using the volume toggle. I don't get it to pull up in the volume settings screen being separated though.
I like to hear the volume of the sounds when I change them so I can hear the volume settings and more importantly which volume I'm controlling. Does this work or yours or is this a silent setting where you have to guess at what level to use?

Rom Control ==> General UI ==> Check "Enable Volume Panel"

Then use the toggle and you'll see the little settings icon on the right. Tap that.
