[ROM] Bonsai4All v2.0.1

Got this bad boy installed last night! Easy Greasy!

I had DK28 and Clockwork already, but then I:
1) Removed SD card contents
2) Formatted SD card
3) Ran the updated Clockwork that uses EX4 file system per instructions (approx. 5 minutes)
4) Copied the ROM to my SD card
5) Rebooted into Clockwork, where it automatically installed the new version of Clockwork and new file system (approx. 10 minutes)
6) Ran & Installed ROM .zip from SD card (approx 5 minutes)

......I didn't clear anything in the phone out consciously because I hit to install from sd card THEN thought to erase data. But nontheless, it installed with ZERO hickups. I've been using it for about 4 hours now, and have only seen a couple force closes on apps (same ones I had issues with using just DK28).

Things I LOVE:
1) Battery Meter - FINALLY usable!
2) GPS lock - I got the fastest, most accurate GPS lock I've ever got! First time I opened up Google Maps to see if GPS worked, it almost had a lock before the program was fully up using wifi! .....Google Earth was showing me in the correct room of my house also!

Things I'm not CRAZY about:
1) Font - I saw where there were a number of fonts installed.....is there a way to change it?
2) Translucent notification drawer - sometimes it's hard to differentiate between what is in the notification drawer and whats behind it.

....but overall, satisfied so far.

Is there any way I could get a step-by-step for going from rooted Stock to Bonsai4All? I managed to flash it, but can't seem to get a straight foward yes or no on if I can go to the dk28 modem or not through odin. I found out I needed dk28 before going to Bonsai4All after I updated to Bonsai4All and had my airplane mode flashing on and off.

If anyone could give me a simpler walkthrough, I'd appreciate it. I've googled around, but I can't google for steps I don't know I need in the first place. Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem. I had to end up reflashing my phone to stock and starting from scratch with Odin and the DK28 modem, the second time around the airplane mode problem was fixed.

I then proceeded to destroy my phone again (2 days ago), and had to get my phone flashed back to factory with DK18 modem with Odin. (yesterday). I then, just now, proceeded to restore my jazz with CWM and forgot to install the DK28 modem this time, and now my phone is busted again! Hahaha, I'm a wreck. My wife hates me right now. I'm not too fond of myself either.

Don't forget to follow all the steps, no matter how hard they are to find.

Update: I was able to restore dk28 and my phone functions again. Haha, I'm going to be kicked out of here for all my stupid troubles I'm having, aren't I?

The best issue free method would be to go from stock form to DK28 Froyo and then follow the first procedure listed here to install ClockWork v3.0.0.5 and be on your way. Then you can flash any of the new EXT4 ROMs that support the new ClockWork v3.0.0.5 (Edify script) only.

Usually Mammon uploads a "Leafless" version of his ROM, which is not themed. However I don't see that this is up yet. In the meantime to change the notification bar you'd need to flash a theme.

For the font, you can use my zip to go back to stock. Flash using Clockwork: Stock Font.

I just added a how-to on flashing the modem on. Go to the bottom of the 1st post of this thread.

We're here to help. And once you get the hang of this stuff, I hope you'll be here to help also :)

Hey guys,
I just got done installing the new Bonsai1.1.3 build and I ran Quandrant to check what the phone would be doing now. Is this a fluke? A score of 1579?

Thats the range that I got when I ran it. All that really matters is how do you like your phone now? Lag is basically gone, things are running nice and smooth?

Were you expecting higher or lower?
Ha, sorry. I was expecting slower, by a few hundred. I got a 900 something prior to this new build and adding 15% faster because of the ext4 deal. I was expecting slower for sure.

Phone does run nice, crisp and smooth now though! Thank you again.

So... who needs help with Odin? I'm a pro now.

Hello all, I was thinking of using this ROM. It seems pretty sound. I have a few questions:

I'm on DK28 RFS (non-EXT4), can I use the ROM link in the 1st post? I saw that it said RFS/EXT4.

I'm On ClockworkMod 2.5..., Do I have to move to 3.0+ to use this? I was hesitant because I read somewhere that all current zip files were unusable w/this version (CWM3.0+).

Thanks.

Yes u can use the link posted. And the rom supports RFS/EXT4. So clockworksMod 2.5... is supported.

Hi, I have a little problem. I installed this ROM and my phone keeps rebooting back to the Bonsaii logo screen at start up. I don't think it's a full reboot because it is pretty quick (i.e., 10 seconds), but it's a little aggravating. Is this part of the "lock" process? It's sometimes not responding to my fingers/press? Did I do something wrong?

Also I noticed that when I installed this ROM (as well as midnight 2.8), a large amount of my internal memory is used compared to my previous ROM (midnight 2.4). I'm moving all possible apps to my SD card, but amd still consuming a large amount of internal memory compared to previous ROMs. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Please help. I really want to give this ROM a try.

UPDATE: After manual reboot, the Bonsaii logo seemed to stop, but I'm still have the issue w/the memory usage. I will move all possibe apps to SD card and reboot to see if that will relieve some memory.

I know Bonsai has more "goodies" in the ROM so its a bit bigger when compared to midNIGHT. It shouldn't be taking up that much memory to make a big difference. The quick reboot into the Bonsai logo seems like a possible bad flash or didn't wipe before the install. If it has resolved itself then it could of just been a isolated incident.

Thanks so much. I just posted a new thread trying to see where my memory could be going and/or what App(s) could be consuming such a large amount of my memory. I created a new thread because I've tried a few different ROMs & have been unsuccessful w/the memory issue.
