[ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 3/9 zvd only

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

What's the purpose of CM7.settings.basebandtest1.zip ? Is this a fix for something that we need to install ?

It's just shows the baseband in the settings menu. Next is to try to port over the Cm9 bluetooth mac address semi patch. There is a text file generated, but you manually change to what ever you want.

Here's some mods to try, but backup just in case.

This new kernel by tvall flashes ok for our cm7 http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...-roms-kernel-thread-hijacked.html#post1666899

the flashable zip works great. Thanks thekraven.
Now i can use this when I make phone calls in my car and be hands free.

Flash this, but you will lose headset mic functionality. This allows regular headphone with phone microphone working. Call clarity seems to be improved.

Thanks - I have regular headphones, not a headset, so this fix will help me!

I finally found the time to revert to ZVD and tried out the ICS beta (which I would have stuck with if the camera worked :( ) but then I jumped on this baby and I haven't had any issues at all! Thanks thekraven!

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

My friend is currently running version CM7.1.01-IHO KRAVEN flashed and was wanting me to flash to the latest version. As always, when I'm dealing with someone else's phone I make sure the phone meets all the requirements for the ROM before flashing no matter what they have on it. I was checkin to see what Baseband he was on and it says "unknown"

Before I go any further I wanted to know how this happened or at the very least is there another way to find out the baseband or shoud I just start over from scratch and make sure it is ZVD? I assume starting from scratch is going to be my only option. Any suggestions?

It should be ok to flash, but to make sure make a nandroid back up before doing it. The newest version also says unknown untill you apply a patch.

Same here, though I don't really notice much from the amphetamine mod. New kernel is cool though :)

thekraven, thank you! I got it to work! I bought another phone after my old one fried from me being an idiot. After a long while I summed up more courage to try again. Your tutorial was great, but I had to remind myself how to root first before continuing with your tutorial. Luckily there are some great tutorials on this site that also teach that. Thank you again for making my phone super awesome.

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

You sir, are a total boss. I absolutely love this ROM! Coming from the HTC Hero, the Optimus S is a pretty big upgrade for me. I was a bit disappointed with the performance of the ZVJ stock ROM from LG, considering it lagged on pretty much every animation it did (even the Hero was smoother than it using a custom Gingerbread ROM), and Sprint ID was very annoying, since I'm not even on Sprint (Kroger iWireless, SUPER budget carrier lol) and it wouldn't let me do anything. Then I learned how to root this phone, and flash ROMs. Now my phone just flies!

I give my thanks to you and the Cyanogen team for making my life a whole hell of a lot better! :D

PS- One little question- how do you go back to the stock Gingerbread transition animations? As in the opening app transition?

*EDIT* Found the answer to my question. MAKE A BACKUP OF /SYSTEM/FRAMEWORK/FRAMEWORK-RES.APK FIRST!!

Basically, take the framework-res.apk of another AOSP Gingerbread ROM of another MDPI phone (Gingerbread Hero Deck for example), open it up using WinRAR (or an equally capable program). Then pull the contents of /res/anim from that ROM's framework-res.apk, and put them in the same folder of CM7.2's framework-res.apk, and push the newly modified framework-res.apk (the CM7.2 one with the anim folder from Hero Deck in it) to /system/framework on your phone.

Wow, I got the ROM-hopping bug again with the surge of development for ZVD (lazy, as charged!) and just tried this ROM again for the first time in 5 months. All I can say is... Wow! This is a suitable daily driver for me now (after a few mods and changes, of course.)

Necessary mods include:
  • Handset mic with headphones mod(a thousand thanks to thekraven for seeing this done!)
  • Sub QuickPic for Gallery3D (What crappy bloatware! I just love looking at my album covers in 1000 3D bendy folders, wondering where all my photos are.)
  • Sub GoSMS or anything for the lame messenging app (I forgot how much I hate it!)
  • Sub Business Calendar for stock Calendar app (OMFG, did they really go with that pathetic widget for Gingerbread production?? That's Apple ammo, right there! It tastes like Play-Doh!)
  • Applied the EAS bypass hack to the Email.apk (F%*# you, Outlook server! I got your PIN, right here!)
  • Deleted all that smoke and mirrors live wallpaper jive. If your wallpaper is alive, you may need an exterminator.
  • Installed a real file manager, instead of the Fisher-Price cartoony one that comes with it.
  • ADW tweaks. Why did they make the launcher look lame like stock by default? Just for the joy of seeing it without "ID" on it?
  • Xabber or imo in, Talk out. Single protocol IM clients are so AOL era.

Battery life seems great so far.
Much more cohesive than the CM7 I tried 5 and 9 months ago; can't believe it's the same base.
Looks great!
Still haven't figured out how to add a hotspot widget...
Anyone know how to change/get rid of the Sprint branding on the lockscreen and the pulldown menu? I'd rather it said "Bad Ass Mo Fo." Thanks Pkt_Lnt!
This just looks great! Simple on the surface, yet so featured under the hood. Aesthetics do matter.

I might have to keep it. Never go grocery shopping hungry and never go puppy browsing when you are not angry enough to have no heart. This may finally get me off my Reborn loyalty.

EDIT: Regarding the stock software, I am aware that most of it must be kept to ensure greatest deployability and function, e.g. Mms.apk. By "they," I generally refer to Google.

Settings, CyanogenMod settings, Interface, Status Bar tweaks, Carrier Label type & Custom Carrier label.

You can be the BAMF with that rant, here and the Ice thread. :D

I was trying to clone the mods you did and had some questions about some of them..

1. How do you delete the smoke and magic wallpapers? I want to clear some phone space too.
2. Can you share the ADW tweaks too?
3. What file manager did you install?

Thanks!

Happy to help. :)

1. [After doing a nandroid backup :) ] You can use ADB, terminal emulator, or a root enabled file manager to remove the appropriate APKs from /system/app. I did mine with ADB, but you can use what you like.

Relative to the wallpaper, the files safe to remove, providing that you don't want to run Live Wallpaper, are MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk, CMWallpapers.apk, LiveWallpapers.apk, ... and there is one more.

As an alternative to completely removing them (rm), I suggest copying (cp) them to a backup folder on your SD card. Anytime I am removing apps via this method, I tend to do that, until I can measure all the effects. ;)

If you need more specifics on the commands to run, just let me know and I will switch to verbose mode.

2. Changed the wallpaper, made the dock five buttons and transparent, made the status bar and homescreen indicator hide, changed the toggle buttons in the pull-down menu, made the desktops circulate, changed the lockscreen appearance... maybe I should upload a screenie? I didn't think it was all that fancy yet; I like smooth and simple.

3. I am the Ghost Commander! A little different, but so awesome, especially in landscape mode. Be sure to enable root features in the settings, if you like.

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

I just flashed this rom over the weekend and it has been my first experience with CyanogenMod. While I consider myself savvy enough with Android roms the learning curve with CM7 seems much steeper than all the stock based rom's I've used in the past. So I could use some help, thanks!

I'm having difficulty getting my phone to roam from the setting > wireless & network settings > mobile networks > system select

I have the appropriate PRL loaded and have enabled data roaming but I for the life of me cannot get my phone to switch over to a roaming network. This is killing my battery life while at work since I get terrible reception in my office with Sprint.

Am I doing something wrong? Much help will be appreciated.
