[ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 3/9 zvd only

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

I just flashed this rom over the weekend and it has been my first experience with CyanogenMod. While I consider myself savvy enough with Android roms the learning curve with CM7 seems much steeper than all the stock based rom's I've used in the past. So I could use some help, thanks!
Happy to help when I can. CM7 is like handing an SLR to a point-and-shoot photographer. The options can be overwhelming at first, but you get used to it as you play with it. The great thing is that all those options are.. well, optional. You don't have to tweak anything to make it just work and you can usually find a toggle in those menus that will adjust something where you would have otherwise had to research a hack and/or install a separate app.

I'm having difficulty getting my phone to roam from the setting > wireless & network settings > mobile networks > system select

I have the appropriate PRL loaded and have enabled data roaming but I for the life of me cannot get my phone to switch over to a roaming network. This is killing my battery life while at work since I get terrible reception in my office with Sprint.

Am I doing something wrong? Much help will be appreciated.
I confirm that this bug exists. What's more is that the setting to go from EvDo/CDMA to just CDMA does not work at all. Perhaps the system select is dependent on that function? I admit that I do not have a grand understanding of the radio/phone side of things, but I am betting that this feature was built around GSM devices coming from AOSP,, so it may need something else to get going.

Thanks! I do like having the controls in CM7 so far, but I also like stability (and the ability to force roam ;) so I'll see how this rom treats me.
Do you have any suggestions as to how else I can force roam with CM7? Roam Control doesn't work on LG phones and I know of no other apps that might work on this rom.

Happy to help. :)

1. [After doing a nandroid backup :) ] You can use ADB, terminal emulator, or a root enabled file manager to remove the appropriate APKs from /system/app. I did mine with ADB, but you can use what you like.

Relative to the wallpaper, the files safe to remove, providing that you don't want to run Live Wallpaper, are MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk, CMWallpapers.apk, LiveWallpapers.apk, ... and there is one more.

As an alternative to completely removing them (rm), I suggest copying (cp) them to a backup folder on your SD card. Anytime I am removing apps via this method, I tend to do that, until I can measure all the effects. ;)

If you need more specifics on the commands to run, just let me know and I will switch to verbose mode.

2. Changed the wallpaper, made the dock five buttons and transparent, made the status bar and homescreen indicator hide, changed the toggle buttons in the pull-down menu, made the desktops circulate, changed the lockscreen appearance... maybe I should upload a screenie? I didn't think it was all that fancy yet; I like smooth and simple.

3. I am the Ghost Commander! A little different, but so awesome, especially in landscape mode. Be sure to enable root features in the settings, if you like.

Thanks for taking time to explain and answer my questions. I would certainly like to have the adb commands to delete/copy the live wallpaper apks to SD card. Thx!

I am also a fan of smooth and simple and dont like too much clutter that bogs down the UI. A screenshot would be good to see. :)

I'm using 11115, my intent was to be able to force roam on 3G when needed (like at work) and otherwise use Sprint's network at all other times. IIRC a custom PRL will cause me to force roam all the time or never depending on which I use. Are there any that allow for more, automatic, flexibility in switching to whichever offers the best signal?

Well that post is terribly helpful. Care to elaborate on what YOU may have done to bootloop your phone? Baseband, Recovery etc...

My battery keeps draining while its plugged in
CPU is 245-748 on demand
Screen briteness is Down all the way
No apps running
in airplane mode
Thought it my be my power transformer so I switch to one that pumps about 200mA more (forget exact I'm in bed now) but that's bout right and still but when I switched to cold as ice it didn't do it so
WTF!!?
I'm thinking kernel? Bobzhome is what I'm useing (came with rom)

You battery is designed to charge fully, then discharge to a given point the recharge repeat until unplugged. Now if you are using it plugged in, you may use more power then you gain, resulting in battery drop. USB charging also does not charge as rapidly as plugging directly to an outlet.

Hey everyone I'm running reborn but am interested in running this Rom. Would u consider this a daily driver? Most the bugs worked out? I can't read through 96 pages on my phone, it'd kill my batt.. (who took my bootloops. Lol):p

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

I started running into issues with cm7 after the beginning of the year. This isn't an isolated thing, a lot of platforms starting having issues with cm7 at about the same time. XDA is a good place to start to read about that.

I would recommend the 12/22 build. Otherwise, you can start with the March builds and see if you find one stable enough for your liking.
