[ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 3/9 zvd only

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

I just cleared the maps cache, then uninstalled it.
Reinstalled the same last maps version 6.7.0 from google play, booted into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik, then ran fix permissions. so far 1 day with zero crashes when maps/gps is used.
Praying this would do it :)

The only problem with this rom for me is I rarely get above 2 bars of service. I've been all over southeast Michigan and no different only 2 bars or less. I've reflashed and yadda yada, no big deal tho, this rom is still worth it. Great work kraven!

Building mainly for references, but I'm in a teaching mood, so ask if you want to learn.

You've stated in a couple of posts to ask if we want to learn....I hope that offer is still good!

My question pertains to CM nightlies. As I know that you keep yourself busy as it is, not to mention the fact that you are actively developing new and amazing things, we can't expect you to make a new build every time a nightly is released. I'm trying to learn and I'm trying to learn how to test. The most recent build for 7.2 was RC1. If RC2 nightly came out, how can I install and test?

Happy to report zero crashes since my last post in May 23 when using maps/gps, and maps version is the latest 6.7.0 from Google Play.

Get an app that shows real measured signal, and not just a silly bar in the notification. Use the widget that shows measured db and asu.

Here are two I recommend:

https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...s?id=com.staircase3.opensignal&token=i8EEgoJM

you can also go into cm7 settings and change the status bar signal display to "signal text"

Half step more than the two step signal comb, but not near the info of the others, since it is only a percentage of signal estimate of a carrier channel. ASU is a better measure of data strength, dBm is a better measure of real voice signal, not a carrier channel that can only handle SMS when nothing else works.

More than cool but very useful! I live in a rural area with weak signal. This lets me know where my phone will actually work!

My orientation takes about 3-4 seconds to move from landscape to portrait. Is there any way to fix this?

Have you tried reverting to a nandroid backup? If worst comes to worst, you can always reflash to stock and start over.

Hmm, I had that problem with an Optimus S Gingerbread rom/newer kernels. It was both, NEWER gingerkernels AND NEWER Gingerroms.
I dunno what rom you flashed I didn't read that far back.
but I would start over from scratch on that phone if I were you, erase it all and put on what you know works
ALWAYS have a rom you know works in Nandroid backup and KEEP only a recovery that works and never change it.

I have reflashed 6 times it doesn't work

Let me get this straight.... You reflashed to stock 6 times and you're stuck with a slow and unresponsive phone that has a grey-lit background?
