[ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 3/9 zvd only

Re: [ROM] CM7.1 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 11-20-2011

Ok, everyting working great except the voicemail and I doubt I did some mistake.

Here is what I did: Flashed VVMfix zip from recovery, downloaded both apk's from XDA link provided,
went to system, mounted it as R/w, deleted visualvoicemail.apk and mms.apk and moved the downloaded files to the smae place and set persimsions like rest of the system apps, mounted system as R/O again, rebooted.

Went to voicemail app and set a personalised greeting which says my name.
To check if its working, I gave a call from work phone, didnt asnwer on mobile, waited til it goes to voicemail. Now, i dont hear the personalised greeting I set. I hear the whole phone number (standard default I guess) instead. I leave a voicemail anyway.
Waited for half hour and I never got a voicemail on my phone :(

I will be greatful if someone would point the mistake i did or anything I missed. Thanks.

BTW: status bar tweaks is awesome. I changed carrier label to my AC user name :) Love this ROM.

The only thing i could see is the stagefright options that Froyo based roms use. There is a compromise with using hardware vs. software in CM7. Some settings made Youtube and videos have green banding. I'll look into seeing if any of the stagefright settings work with CM7.

The only thing the kernals would help with is when your screen goes to sleep and the governor drops the CPU performance to save battery. Interactive would help if you get choppy audio while streaming.

Thanks for looking into this. I really appreciate it.

I tried it, and it seems to have the same 30 sec delay as the TWiT Play app. I verified this by pausing and then hitting play again. Without fail, it takes 30 secs to start playing again.

This issue aside, I really love this ROM. Looks and performs great. It's just a little inconvenient to have to wait 30+ secs every time I want to play an audio stream. Hopefully, there's an easy solution to this. FYI, I went back to the 10/23 ROM you have posted in the OP just to see if this "feature" was introduced in the latest CM7 builds. Unfortunately, the same behavior exists in that ROM, as well.

Yes, I removed the stock MMS.apk as the instructions stated, as well as flashed the VVM fix from the first page.

No other SMS/MMS app on the phone.

The only reason I know for MMS not to work is that the stock Mms.apk is not working properly. The VVM fix should have the Mms.apk and that counts as the stock Mms.apk cuz it's sthe stock app from another phone that has the 9016 text fixed. If it's working fine sending and receiving texts I don't know why MMS would'nt work:(

The VVM zip works the same way as manually removing and installing the 2 apps. You only need to do one of them. I usually use adb and delete the stock CM7 Mms.apk and then move the fixed Mms.apk and Voicemail.apk to the system/app folder and that's it. And then go to VVM and compose a voicemail and send it to yourself. Everything should work from there. I've done it on different phones that have CM7 installed and never had any problems.
I usually dial 1 and change my greetings from there and it'll stay there as long as you don't switch to another voicemail handler.

I've seen this streaming music fix but needs to be done on a stock VD or sprint based VD rom first. But you need your MSL code from sprint. If i have time I'll try a nandroid and see if it works. HTC EVO 4G: Fix Music Streaming And (Maybe) Boost Your 3G Speeds With A Simple Hack

I was having random issues with 11/20 build ie GPS exceptionally slow. Apps and web would just close without any error message. So what I did was full wipes and flash debugsystem. Than I flashed the rom TWICE. Than gapps and finally vvmfix. Than reboot. Works great now. Thanks kraven.

I noticed two tiny bugs though. Try to opt in for anonymous statistics get a fc and the notification sounds for texts aren't the same sounds I pick. Works right for emails and other notifications.

Re: [ROM] CM7.1 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 11-20-2011

I'll throw CMstats back in the next build. I think it will fc if it's not there.

As for the MMS for VVm. That was the latest the developer (DECK) made, and it's from his 2.3.5 AOSP build which fixes the 9016 texts. So there will be some compatability issues since we are on the 2.3.7 code. I'll see if he made another build since then.

Here is the Google apps with the VVM, it will just save another step when flashing google apps. But you will still receive 9016 texts till you push his Mms.apk file to your system folder. Download gapps 20110828 zip

Make sure you don't restore Messaging/MMS app or data in Titanium backup.

It's a lot of trouble it seems to me, I'm happy with google voice.

I'm still using the VVM fix files from the xda link. I just use adb and push them to the system/app folder and it works fine. It's an extra step but it takes less than a minute to do it. Doesn't seem to have any issues on my phone and my husband's Samsung Epic 4G with an alpha version of CM7.

Interesting. I'm not sure this is the same problem that I'm having, but it's worth a try. After the 30 sec delay, audio streams fine on this ROM. The delay is the only problem. Strange thing is that the delay seems to be consistently around 30 secs. I wonder if there is automatic 30 sec audio buffering or something built in to the ROM. Is that possible?

Regardlesss, thanks for investigating.

Re: [ROM] CM7.1 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 11-20-2011

came from drew's cm7 rom, and this one is fantastic.
the vvm and gps work great on this rom.
only problem is when i plug in my usb to my pc, it doesn't detect to transfer files.
it only charges the phone. is this a feature of the new build?

No,.it should work normally. Try this, it worked for me when I had the same issue before.
Reboot into recovery and mount it as USB and connect to your system. You should be able to transfer files between SD and PC. Disconnect, reboot into android and connect to PC again.

Sounds weird but worked for me :)

Re: [ROM] CM7.1 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 11-20-2011

I'm wondering, will this work for the Motorola Photon 4G?

Re: [ROM] CM7.1 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 11-20-2011

No, there's a version for that on xda, but 4G doesn't work

In this latest build is the barcode scanner fixed by chance? Not sure if it's been brought up but when using it on the 11/03 build I get a black line going across the screen and can't see what's scanning. Unless the Google goggles fix helped it, haven't had a chance to update very recently.

Barcode scanner works for me
