[ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9+Paranoid Android LS670 11/20 ZVD basesband Alpha19

You can flash testboot 3 after and it keeps the Bluetooth fixes and restores Wi-Fi.

I'm talking about alpha 11c btw....

So I have to stay awake all night long turning my phone on and off to make sure the alarm goes off in the morning to get me up at 5:30? Seems like a poor solution to me.

I've missed morning wake ups and important calendar alarms because the clock lags, then phone wakes up and jumps past alarm time, so no alarm. Bad juju.

AlarmDroid from the market works like magic. never misses an alarm.
I also have clocksync on auto-sync.

imagine a situation where you may need to have an alarm go off at an exact time. well, you plug your phone in, go to sleep, screen shuts off, you get clock lag, dont wake up for work on time, get fired from work, cant pay your cell bill, lose your beloved optimus, and all because you had clock lag.

...CLOCK LAG KILLS!

Ummm. Alpha build....lol cm7 is finished though

Test 13 kernel broke wifi

In recovery, mounts and storage, mount /system, then flash, clear cache and dalvik, then reboot. That worked for me in 11a and now 11c.

This from thekraven post #2 :

HOT FIXES: If stuff don't copy correctly, ie wifi drivers, try mounting system in recovery, then flash. Always flash kernels last after patches or boot.img. Try turning on wifi, then reboot. Turn off haptic feedback on the keyboard to get rid of any typing lags.

It won't fix the lag in displaying the correct time on the lockscreen or statusbar (that's a problem with updating the time readout on each of those), but it will keep the actual system time in check.

I've attempted to find the answer, what is the best settings for clock sync?

Not sure, I have been running it for about 3 weeks. I let it verify anytime, any network, shortest interval, strict interval.

Don't be afraid to experiment and post your findings. That is what this thread is about, is testing and finding solutions.

I have not had a missed alarm since I let it run always on a short sync time, come to think of it, but I do see the difference in clock widget, status bar, and lock screen.

backup user apps with Titanium Backup,

place the latest alpha release on the top level of your sdcard, as well as the 4-29 gapps zip.

reboot into recovery, and make a nandroid backup. then wipe /system, /data, and /cache. then hit 'install zip from sdcard'. choose the alpha zip. let that finish. then install zip from sdcard again, and select the 4-29 gapps. don't worry about the kernel, as the one that's included with the latest alpha is just fine. then boot up, install titanium backup, and restore your apps

So is the latest alpha okay for daily use?

Essentially. Look at the original post and notice which bugs still exist, and make sure you understand the risks & benefits, as well as the possible shortcomings. but obviously it's not going to be as stable as thekraven's CM7.2 ROM. it won't be for a while.

Keep in mind that ROM development sequence is
Alpha
Beta
Release

Software release life cycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So, yes, if you can stand lots of bugs and many showstopper issues that can make some functions / or your entire phone inoperable. May not happen, but it is possible.

edit - look at how many people are asking how to get this and that working, or how to get this or that app to run. It is not ready for prime time in my opinion. I am back on thekraven CM7 when I REALLY need my phone.
