[ROM][GINGERBREAD] CyanogenMOD 7 Nightly Builds.

I love it!! I appreciate those guys for this fix in 151!! I just wish I didn't have to completely start over after flashing a new ROM. LOL

You don't... If you are upgrading between nightlies, just clear Cache and Dalvik, not Data; and when you flash the nightly you will still have all your apps and settings.

Hope this helps.

Thanks P!! That's very valuable info for my next nightly update!

with cm7 what happens of we travel outside the country? will we face same charges and phone function properly? just curious. oh and with tethering will big red charge for it?

If you are in Canada or Mexico you should be OK, but most countries use GSM, not CDMA, and it won't work on any GSM network. Verizon does charge for International Roaming. Something like $1.25 minute and $0.50 per text. Not sure what the data rates are but I'm sure they are equally high.

What should I expect from a 'stable' mod as opposed to a 'nightly'? I assume the 'stable' CM7 wouldn't have the signal dBm fix and other enhancements since it's older...

You are correct - Nightlies are a continuation of the development cycle and have bug fixes and enhancements the "stable" does not have. Frankly I can't remember when there was a "bad" nightly. Sometimes a minor thing will break in a nightly, When that happens, you either restore your Nandroid until it is fixed or flash an older nightly.

Honestly, I tend to stay away from CM "Stable" releases. It seems to me that everytime they release a stable, it has some strange issue not found in the nightlies. Which is odd, because a stable release is really just a nightly with a different label. Oh well, I will always love my nightly builds<3

I too love the nightly builds though I likely wont flash every night. Maybe when there's a major update. It's crazy how I rooted Saturday morning at 4am and feel knowledgeable about it already. You are a great bunch of guys.

Thanks Stig and thanks cron for breaking down how to do this!

When I first loaded CM7 I did it every night, but now I typically am sticking to every tenth nightly or if something breaks or if a major new feature is added. I need to update to the newest one to fix the dbm issue and then will probably update to 160 after that.

CM7 definitely is awesome though.

I think that's where most of us are at. Not even I flash every single nightly anymore. Mostly just because there aren't a whole lot of new features going in every night. Mostly a lot of behind-the-scenes code cleanup or support for other devices. I can't wait until Ice Cream Sandwich drops, to see what the CM team can do with it.

What ice cream sandwich??!! Looks like #153 has some update to kernel coming. I am really happy with Chad's latest using the fast usb charging code. Works like I champ. QUICK Charge when plugged into my computer at work. Gonna stick with that kernel for now. See link:

Very Happy with this kernel and it goes great with CM7 Nightlies. Sucks I have to reflash kernel every time I flash a nightly. LOL its fun though and thats why we do it

Ice Cream Sandwich is the next version of Android that should be out sometime near the holidays. Apparently it is going to merge the code of the 2.x and 3.x versions of Android into one super awesome operating system. So if you are on a tablet, or a phone, it will automatically display a certain interface based on what kind of device you are on.

I have added a new link to the OP under the kernels section for Chad's new app, Incredicontrol, to go along with his awesome Incredikernel. This app allows you to turn on USB Fast Charge or Audioboost, and also provides a super easy interface for changing your voltages on the fly.

Chad actually just released it on the Market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.incredicontrol

There is also an ad free version available for $3.99, that everyone should purchase to support this awesome dev.

If you download the fastcharge enabler from Chad's website, do you flash it just like other zip files? (Roms, kernels, gapps, etc.?

Awesome! I'm about to flash Fast Charge Enabler right now. I rarely plug into my laptop at work to charge anymore since I have the 2150 battery but having the option to fast charge is nice. :D

Now my newb question... Where do I enable the fast charge?
