Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

for the first 24hrs (up to 48), the data coverage (3g) may be spotty at best, least it was for me.

Try wiping data/factory reset from your Xionia custom recovery, also wipe the cache and see if it clears up the issue for you

if you still have the issue, after doing those, try a "dirty flash" - flashing the rom over itself without clearing data or cache

*be careful what you restore from titanium backup (if you restored some data)

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

I'm having some weird issues with data. I've reproduced it three times between reboots. For a while the 3g and wifi icons work but later either the 3g icon won't display when its connected or the wifi icon wont show its connected.

Now my wifi icon says its connected but i cant load anything (webpages, market).

Thanks,
masaharustin

Wow, that is weird. Let me ask you a few questions...

1. Did you do a full wipe before loading this ROM?
2. Did you restore anything from back up?
3. Did you install any task killers or battery saving apps like Juice Defender?

Answer those and we can troubleshoot further.

I agree with you 100% But I am not sure about the 3G coverage being spotty. It seemed fine to me but I updated profile and PRL right away so maybe that had something to do with it?

I've just installed this Rom, and am having the super sensitive screen issue.
Double letters, selecting items instead of scrolling, hard to move icons around
the home screen, try to select an item and it hesitates before deciding what it
wants to do, i.e. remove, move or run.
I'm running Drews' v3 kernal on a clean install.
This is basically an FYI.

Thank you for letting us know. A lot of people running that kernel have had similar results as yours. They have posted in his thread and he is looking in to why this is the case. I would maybe just flash the ROM with out his kernel. You then wont have that issue. And make sure you wipe really good!

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

I followed the unroot, back to stock tut. to a T.
Then installed gRom as usual, wiping everything.
Then installed the new Kernal.
I'm not sure if I could have done it any cleaner.
And although it is a little buggy, I will continue to
use it and just work with it.
THANKS FOR ALL THE DEV'S WORK ON OUR PLATFORM!

Sup all, just wondering, if I upgrade my baseband to use this rom and I wanna go back to drews cm7, do I have to downgrade my baseband, or will drews work on the new baseband?

Edit.. nvm, found my answer

My odd data problem seems to have resolved itself after a few hours. Not really sure what caused but it but everything is fine now. :)

BTW: I am using juicedefender and setcpu. I had the same problems with and without these.

EDIT: Never mind it happened again but stopped. I guess it comes and goes.

Despite the weird data thing, GREAT JOB ON THE ROM! :D Keep up the awesome work.

You claim its buggy (you may also want to take note that you are really the only one claiming this that has not figured out the issue that they were having) but... Your running a kernel that is simply not supported by the ROM. Its like trying to run diesel in gasoline engine. Just something for you to think about before you make the claim of buggy. But either way...

This ROM is solid stable and fast (as it can be without a good OC kernel). The majority of users (if not all users) have no issues. They report issues only to find it was something they did wrong, like flashing an unsupported kernel or not wiping completely as the instructions state you must do.

Yes. I would belevie so but you may also want to confer with Drew on that.

Keep up the awesome work.

The reason I ask about juice Defender... A lot of people on the Evo 3D use Juice Defender and report similar issues that you reported. They always say, "WiFi wont turn back on after sleep" and every single time its juice defender causing the issue. That's why I threw that out there. As far as the issue, am starting to think network.

I believe I read that Drews' Kernel was supported in this rom.
Maybe I read it in a different thread but I swore I checked and
I was good to go. I might not be the smartest on the web, but I
read everything for hours before I pull the trigger. I don't just install
willy nilly and then complain. I'm not like that.

By all means, I hope you are not offended. That was not my intent! I was merely pointing out my observations. If you read through his thread it is littered with similar complaints as yours. I am confident its something his kernel is doing.

This is what I went by.

You may also take note... I did not make that statement nor in my OP do I make any mention of his kernel being a good add on for the ROM. Unless its in the OP you use it at your own risk. He said it worked and I beleived him. I read his thread and its clear its not a good fit for the ROM. I may just go ahead and post that in the OP so everyone is aware but I didn't want to point it out due to respect issues. Catch my drift?

Oh and I am not blaming you for this. I am just sayin...

No offense taken, I'm just trying to give my observations, and whether
his Kernel is "officially" supported or not, I'm giving my situation to
maybe help, and guide other users.
On a side note, how do I revert back to the gRom stock Kernel?

Easiest way, just re flash the ROM and should revert the kernel back. I would recommend a full wipe before reflashing.

I do appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Maybe others will take note. I will update my OP to indicate that the only supported kernel is the one on the ROM.

That's what I thought, I was doing just that as you posted.
Thanks.

Hey Scrosler,
Do we have to revert back to v9 to re-flash the VZH Rom?

I am on gROM with Drews kernal and would like to revert back to stock. I have xionia recovery.

If you want gROM without gingerkernel, you can just reflash the gROM zip file. It includes its own kernel.

+1
And as another side note, after reverting back to stock gRom, my double tapping
selecting problem has went away.
So I would just say don't flash any other Kernels as of yet. Just my
******ed 2 cents.

Ok, great. And I will be up front with you... You may encoutner the screen touchiness at first but it normally goes away in a couple minutes. His kernel just makes it worse instead of going away. Its this way on the stock ROM as well. Thats why when people were reporting it at first I did not believe them. I was in between two ROM builds (Evo 3D and Optimus) and a website upgrade (Scott's ROMS - Home) so the phone would sit for like 15 to 30 minutes after a flash and I would not see any issue. I would even reboot after a first boot from a fresh flash.

Correct. If you got time and can make a flashable zip that will kill the Gingerkernrel I will gladly appreciate and post a link to your post so people dont have to revert all the way back. I would do it myself but I am at work for the night.
