[ROM] midNIGHT ROM v4.2 (BYOR Edition) CW3 Redirector/EXT4 and CIQ Removed 3/9/2011

I am new to android, but I am catching on quickly.
I had eclair, finally got fed up and followed ragnarokx directions for froyo and ext4... bricked it a few times and kept going. I tried epic, I did not like that i could not get voicemail, after a few attempt on the sprint VM i came across MidNIGHT 2.9 and LOVVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!i have seen a decrease in Battery Life since I installed this rom, gradually it is getting worse. I have 2 calendars and 2 emails running . I set the sync on one email for every 10 minutes the other is google so i dont know how to change it.
anywho,,,, I love this forum and thanks to alll who help it.

I had the problem with TER too with the voicemail, I was able to flash it and it worked properly. It didn't for you?

Love the new update!
Question, is there a way to enable a true silent instead of just vibrate?
Edit #2: My WiFi seems to be broken...after I select my network, it goes from "Connecting" to "Disconnected" constantly

Best answer I can give is a way to do EITHER silent or vibrate options. If you go to settings, sounds...and change vibrate to "only when NOT in silent mode".... when you lower the volume using side keys, it changes the vibrate option to silent.

Unfortunately, in 2.2, I don't know of a way to have vibrate AND silent as options. Hope this helps.

I use CurveFish Silent On/Off widget to get the 3 options. It'll will do ring/vibrate only/silence(no vibrate).

FC with skyfire

I love this rom. I updated to 3.1 since then when I open skyfire and hit bookmarks,it FC's.
Does anyone else have that.

Need help - can't do anything

Brand new Epic. :)

I put DK18 on it and did the converting to EXT4. Things went well. DK18 was fine. I didn't install anything extra and just flashed midNIGHT 3.0. After it was done, it went to reboot.

Bootup screen was weird. It was stock sprint/galaxy s, but with a sideways "android" word overlaying it. When it was done, got my lock screen. I unlocked and it gave me a choice of Launchers. i chose Launcher Pro.

Phone when to home screen and then made some funny little vibrating noises, blanked out and went to the sideways android word. Took me back to my lock screen. I unlock, choose a different launcher, same thing. My buttons aren't working, nor is the power button.

Do I do a battery pull and reboot? Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks!

edit: My phone is actually off right now. Don't want to touch anything yet.

I would boot into CWM and do a full wipe 3x and then flash midNIGHT v3.0 and try again.

Paul,

Thank you so much! *big hug* :) That worked! (and I put on 3.1 since I just noticed it was updated)

Now to try a theme..... :D

No problem. That's what I'm here for. Probably just one of those flukes where you had a bad flash. No big deal.

Getting FC when using voice search. Running v3.1 and everything else seems to work well except for this.

I turned off the Gingerbread MTM and force closes went away... don't use voice so can't comment there...

There are settings under each email account if you hit the Menu button. You can select the frequency of receipt of mail, from never for me to when received and everything in the middle.

Constant polling will be a battery drain, so it depends on how well you have tweaked your other settings and how you use your battery. I pull mine, hate
popups and don't really want to read them at the sender's convience (especially since half is junk), so I do what it takes for my peace of mind and battery;)

Just updated to 3.1 from 3.0... based on descriptions within the thread and the flash text itself during the process, I was under the assumption I could just install this new one on top of the old one, and that the zip would take care of backing up, clearing, and then restoring user data during the process... in reality, everything was completely erased... luckily I had backed up but wtf? Anyone else experience this? Thx

I tried that same thing and went fine for me. That being said you should wipe each time and backup data with an app. I went back and wiped just in case.

Sorry it took so long to get this up here. I'm spread pretty thin right now. Please enjoy the update... And I'll try to be more timely next time.

So in other words, while backing up with an app for safety as I did, you did not have to do anything otherwise during the flash process, and when you were done, all of your data and apps were still there on the phone? My data was all gone, my system settings and homescreen were gone, and half the apps were gone... strangely some were still on the phone... very bizzarre... in any case, just a warning to always back up before flashing, even though some have had success with the .zip files working properly to restore the system...

I want to add a note to this thread for all you read and use Midnight's Roms.
If you go to his blog, you will see a heart breaking story. He states he writes about his family's autism and its challenges as a way to bring and spread awareness about this condition that affects so many. It makes me feel blessed with my family's health and realize the struggles others have to go through on a daily basis.

He enjoys development and these forums, we are so lucky to have him and his contributions. I feel his hobby is a stress reliever and therefore, we benefit.

So I am encourgaging everyone to read these. And if they feel, as I did, contribute. We have one of the most expensive phones on the market that he enhances, so it would be good if we, as a group, followed our hearts and helped. This is different than writing a check to some PO Box with an 800 number, this is where you can see and make a personal difference.

Dude, you continuously amaze. I'm still running 2.4! I need to get with the program and update to your latest since I'm "7 tenths of a generation behind!" Lol... Many thanks for your hard work. And keep up the good work. You've got an awesome ROM.
