Ok in researching and experimenting trying.to.figure out why i cant get this rom to install for me i came accross something interesting. I have grom on my phone right now and someone had mentioned on that thread if you want oc to use generkernal so my question is does opti use generkernal cuz when i installed the kernal with grom it froze at the lg screen like opti did. And if so why would the kernal freeze the phone and how do.you get around it.

ginger kernel is the one by drew referenced in the build notes in post one

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM

I'm curious if some of the people having problems installing, are actually doing step " 5.Flash Debug-FormatSystem.zip " ..before flashing Opti-ROM.

also in the past after you flash the rom and go through the optimus setup..rebooting the phone before using it helps gets some of the kinks out.

I have tried to find the issues people are having by using both main recoveries that are mainly used on this phone..and have yet to get it. even from coming from gRom.

and i believe someone posted earlier, if you had grom and are having issues going to opti, try going back to VZH (before having grom) (and a little hint if your having issues going back, try redownloading/installing the update.zip's)

hopefully this helps..

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM

why does everyone HAVE to overclock?

If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand... ;)

While I don't oc my wife's phone, I do mine... it runs smoother... isn't as choppy... and it's more responsive in general. (She's commented how my phone felt significantly faster than hers, but she doesn't want her phone rooted..)

Honestly, I've nearly reverted my phone to ZVD and restored my nandroid of reborn... since it worked well most of the time... (though it did spontaneously reboot if I tried to install some of the freebie amazon android apps)...

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM

alright im not a noob at anything when it comes to this phone and i followed all instructions coming from Grom... wiped everything and all flashed the debug befor rom and im stuck in a boot loop... i was super excited to try this but apperently nothing is working... :/

Use adb to reboot into recovery and work from there... perhaps reflash the rom.....

i dont much work with adb... i dont understand why im having so much problems... i might do a dirty flash from here... and see if that help... this is irratating due to the fact i dont much like grom... ;/

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM

Just a shot in the dark here, but maybe download Drew's Gingerkernal v04 and flash it after flashing the rom. No clue if this will help you guys that are having trouble running this rom, but just a though I had.

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM

i restored my nandorid of grom and then redid all the steps and now i seem to actually be booting ... i got past every screen... CORRECTION... im booted :D good ive been wanting to try this for awhile juss have not had the time :/ but good job on the rom :D

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM

I want a reborn 2.3. Using retouched theme with opti.

Ill second that...reborn was probably the best looking ROM that has come out. Theres no mistaking that for a stock anything :-) and a GB version of Reborn would be awesome...Reborn Again.

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM

So, I took a chance...

I've been basically running the stock rom, but rooted... (not Grom). I nandroided, then used the recovery to format /system and /cache, then installed this rom over top...

Everything seems to work happily... no fc's thus far... and all my data's still there... we'll see how this works after a day or two.

Edit: I'm not sure if this was related to how I installed this, BUT I had to go hunt down the new update to SU 3.0 and install it as a zip from recovery afterwards...

Also, is there any chance to get a keymap that turns off wake on home (well, basically any key except power)?!

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM

Ok to continue with the install issues i am haveing getting stuck at silver LG screen

first question what is in the boot.img from a nand backup. or better is the kernal stored in there.

like I said before I have been able to get grom to work but opti gets stuck at the silver lg scree so i did a nand of my phone with grom and then did all the steps to install opti except after flashing debug and rom i did a advanced restore of my nand and restored the boot.img and low and behold the phone boots into opti. I did try installing the newest kernal of ginerkernal and it still froze. actually it is probably boot looping cuz when pluged into my comp the usb connects then disconects. so i am pretty sure it is the kernal. my question for the devs specially drew is. is there a log file that i can pull off the phone where you can see where it is crashing at and send to you so you might be able to pin point the issue i notices a couple people in the gingerkeral thread was haveing the same issue. so if there is some way i can help let me know. I am a computer tech with a BA so i know my way around comps and most smart phones since it is my job.

thanks for all the hard work on all the roms you all have made and i look forward to getting opti rom issue fixed and installed on my phone so i can play with it.

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM

alright so this is a update on opti rom since i have gotten to use it... it booted up once for me fully and i was able to set everything up ... i had dropped my phone and the battery popped out... and i had to boot it up again and there is was was that god aweful boot loop... again. the only way i found to get past that boot loop was to dirty flash everytime i rebooted my phone... :/ so i was wondering if you could fix that and i noticed that it only does it with drews kernal... i tried the stock kernal and it worked fine... but i want to use drews so i will wait till next release of this rom... i hope its soon.. :P

I can't remember the command to have you run to pull the log file from the kernel to help find the issue. Yes a nadroid does restore the kernel cause the kernel is part of the boot.img.Inside the boot.img is the ramdisk and kernel packed together. Using the older boot.img is fine just it does break small tweaks that we have. So to avoid breaking things as i state below we'll get a flashable that will replace the in the rom zip with the stock one but with proper edits as to not disable our tweaks.

Ill get a stock boot.img and just kernel for people that are having issues booting with drews kernel.

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM

Thank you i await the boot.imgimg

The attached zip is the stock kernel only,it can be flashed after flashing the rom to replace Drew's kernel with the stock kernel. Ill post the boot.img zip in a few almost done with it.

Thanks drew i used your zip ;)

P.S. neither of the zips are signed so if you get a error toggle sig check in recovery.
