[ROM][Repost][06/05/11] Comm ROM 2.1 (UKB) from TSM **Updated 06/20/11**

My wife, cousin, and I are all running Fixed* UKB 2.0 with -50 PBJ Voodoo Kernel. We are all having MMS picture messaging issues. They stay pending and will not send. Is there a fix for this? I have the Samsung message_patch.zip on my desktop but have not installed it. Is this the fix for our issue and if so, what will it change? We love the rom the way it is and would prefer to fix this rom rather than revert back to samsung's design. Thanks for your help

Now I did connect to wifi, sent a pic, and it worked. I then turned off wifi and sent a pic, and it worked as well. I can't imagine that fixed things for good. My wife was able to send some as well. It just seems to be a random issue, not perfect.

I get a couple random reboots here and there which is fine but because I get phantom menu button pushes my phone goes into safe mode on occasion during the reboot and it wipes out all my facebook sns files which makes me either have to do a nandroid restore or go through and wipe my accounts/reassign people which is kind of annoying. Just seeing if anyone else is getting this?

Dumb question, but is the included 3G Mobile Hotspot free for use? I don't want to use it and get charged. Kind of afraid.

Also, is it possible to change the messaging software? Like to another unit?

Hotspot is a paid service. Google "android wifi tether". For messaging, try Handcent in the app store. It has an emoji add-on. Both are free and great.

Does anyone have a version of TouchWiz Launcher that will work with this ROM? I tried the one from 1.3 and got a force close loop.

Also, I've had no luck hiding the charging icon or turning off haptic feedback, and there's an alarm icon on the status bar next to the time, and I have no alarm set.

I don't know of a TW launcher out there that works with Comm ROM 2.0. For the statusbar icons - for the alarm clock icon and charging icon, toggle the checkmark for each 2 or 3 times, then reboot phone. Some of the statusbar settings require a reboot to take effect.

Battery not charging when phone shutdown

I mentioned this over in the odin section of the COMMROM2.0. My fascinate will not charge and is freezing up when shut down and plugged in. I get the grey batt icon on screen and the progression symbol in the middle but the batt never turns green. I can not restart the phone from this state. It requires a battery pull. I read in this section where I need to do a logcat along with all my other info for any issues I may be having. I was wondering, after googling logcat and being utterly confused, if there is anyway someone can explain to me what I need to do to get a logcat of this incident. I am back to stock now but will go ahead and put commrom 2.0 back on and grab a logcat just so I can post the information.
Thanks in advance
p.s. as noted in the odin posts, I did full wipes each time. full data, full cache and full davlik. Was Not running any themes for the second two reinstalls of commrom to test battery issue.

ever since i did this, my 1x and 3g connection suck and keep cutting out.

This has been noted a lot and actually has nothing to do with the ROM. verizon has been having all kinds of trouble with 3g connectivity, and my guess would be any changes to your phone kind of bring those problems into play. Call vzw tech support, tell them the problems you are having, tell them you have done a factory data reset already, and they will have to do an ESN swap. That has fixed the problem for almost everyone.

There isn't a working TW3 launcher for CR 2.0, but the TW4 launcher from the SGS2 is available and works well. It may force close at first when setting it as default and will require reboot, but then it works great, at least in my experience.

Hi All... I have had UKB 2.0 for about one week now. The last few days I have been experiencing random vibrates which sometimes coincides with the Back or Menu soft keys being randomly toggled. It seems not to happen for a while, then suddenly resumes unexpectedly.

After connecting to ADB and having a look at the LogCat, it looks like some sort of crazy loop gets initiated. I have saved a bunch of the LogCat files. I will just paste one link here to a LogCat of the following scenario: Fascinate was put in Airplane mode and powered down. Phone was powered on and allowed to completely start. No loops yet. Then Airplane mode was deactivated and the loop started almost immediately.

The loop I speak of usually look something like this, repeated many times in a row:

V/WindowManager( 2738): Dsptch to Window{48a5c108 com.ebproductions.android.launcher/com.ebproductions.android.launcher.Launcher paused=false}

Thanks for any advice on this!!

EDIT: This seems to be a common issue of "phantom soft keys", possibly due to a spot of grease/oil over that area, and not specific to UKB 2.0. Loving this ROM!!

Unfortunately, the phantom soft key presses are nothing new. I can't speak for anyone else, but I've had issues with them ever since the official Froyo hit. Not sure how to fix it though...

Thanks, atom. After doing a search for "phantom soft key" I found this thread discussing the issue. Must be just coincidental that I first experienced it after UKB install. After buffing off the grease and oil from my screen real good I haven't had this happen yet, so maybe keeping the soft key area clean is important. Hope this does the trick!

By the way, I use a Realook Screen Protector.. the oil seems to 'float' on it more noticeably than other screen protectors, so I don't know if this is a contributor to the problem or not.

Now that I've gotten my Fascinate tweaked just the way I like with ComRom 2.0, I notice that there's a Gingerbread leak. Should I be expecting a Gingerbread ComRom in the coming weeks?
