I'm a noob too, and want this new super clean rom real bad. I've been reading this forum for hours trying to figure how to root my Fascinate and I'm still scratching my head and pulling out my hair. They should have a "rooting for dummies" thread somewhere !

Same thing for me, getting older and not as smart as I used to be. I downloaded clockwork, rom manger and rooted the phone all from the market. Only used ODIN to install the new modem when I loaded the DJ05 rom. So how do I move over to the DL09?

I have downloaded the zip file (SC.4) and it is saved on my desktop.

Where do I go from there?

One click root is fairly easy since Z4root wont work any more. Using ADB to root is actually pretty easy if you are computer savy. You need the samsung drivers anyway.

If you are rooted and have CWM installed properly - ie. can see CMR and not 2e - then you should just install the DL09 modem with odin and then flash the rom in CMR. if you have the modem, then just flash the rom.

It seems hard at first but really is not The how to on the full DL09 install is the same process but just install the modem with odin instead of the full md5 tar file. Then flash the rom with CMR. Should not lose data that way.

I am not an expert either but I have done this a few times. Post what you have and where you are at and we should be able to get you there

I have a question for you, Adrynalyne... I want to use your supaclean rom with swype (no problem there), but I had no luck in making the searcg soft key longpress to voice search... it still tells me "application is not installed on your phone." I simply downloaded the file from the first page of the thread, copied it to the root dir of the memory card. I went into rom manager and installed from sd and then nothing happened.

any advice?
another question I have, is that I want the notification window exactly like it is in sonofskywalker3's blackmod enhanced with the circular battery indicator AND the unlock screen that is on your mod...without sacrificing the performance that you gave us...

am I being too greedy, or is this actually possible? Sorry, I'm new to this scene, but am slowly finding my way...

Before I download a third time, would someone be kind enough to post a checksum of this rom?

You are exactly where I was. If you load recovery from CWM, it will take you to CWR. If you reboot and hold both the vol + and vol -, it will take you to 2e. If you flash update.zip in 2e, you will be taken to CMR. Only time I see 2e is when I use the reboot into recovery from the power options in my theme or when I load a new modem and want to get into recovery without booting the phone completely.

You need to save the clean .4 rom to your sd card. Save the DL09 modem to your computer. Load the modem via odin using the PDA option with the phone in recovery mode. I do this with the battery out. After that is complete, I put the battery back in and reboot with the vol + and vol - button depressed. This takes me to 2e. I load update.zip and this takes me to CMR. I then load a rom from my sd card and reboot. I did also wipe cache while in CWR. For me, I did not wipe data.

That should do it unless you want swype, misc apks and/or themes installed. Then you will need to reboot/flash a few more things.

Mine works fine but I have read that you don't want to be logged in via your phone in youtube. Go into settings/applications and wipe app data/cache for the youtube app. I thinks this fixes most people.

Wow, I am NOT paying attention... Sorry, just saw the checksum next to the original file. Believe it or not, my prior downloads were bad... tried again, and alright now.

That's what I've been running and I love it. I dabbled in some DJ05 stuff with a stupidfast kernel and had alot of bugs. SupahClean with the 1230 Non voodoo is beautiful. Haven't had an issue yet.

Yep, kicking along like a rockstar over here too.

I tried that swpe install through cwm, and keep getting a forced close though. Will figure it out tomorrow. Going to bed now.

Hey man, names Justin. Im sure you get tons of this but I need a bit of help. I have the samsung fascinate. I did the superoneclick root. Which I achieved. I then followed some forum instruction and was trying to flash my first rom. the super dark. Well I ended up with factory reset wipe and dont know where to go from here. I still have root access and super user in my app drawer but I just dont know if I should use my backup and restore or if I should move forward as is now with trying to get a custom rom loaded. Either way Im not exactly sure how to take the next steps.

To address all of the newb questions... (including me).

Can you compile a one list step by step????? It took me like to days to figure the 09 using Odin out. Had to find the download places as well...

Example for me would be....
1. Download Odin3 HERE......(Link)
2. Download xyz HERE.... (Link)
3. Connect usb cable without battery and hold the volume button till u get a yellow triangle... blah blah...
4. Etc, Etc,....


After all the confusing downloads and figuring out which ones I needed and started to the "yellow triangle" part.... It was easy.... for the Stock ROM....

But then? Continuing on would be...

ROOTING...

Before Custom ROM....

Ect... MAybe add the note "Before Adding Custom Rom you should be Rooted and Have ODIN or whatever running as you will be using it to instal Software on this thread.... And add the links... to show chronological order... Kind of like a Tech Tree from StarCraft....

Sorry for the newbness but that would have made it painless for me...
Now my questions...

I'm at the Stock DL09 using Odin3... To do this super clean mod, can I use ODIN 3 again... Or do I need to be rooted first then use ODIN3?

Just wondering why you replaced the standard clock and calculator. Were they very large programs? I liked the original clock a lot, and used the countdown, stopwatch, and alarm (though the one you replaced it with, does have a nice alarm) quite often.

im alive at five and gtg. nuance workin' all day long.

this is my best setup yet. love the black notification bar that comes with the Blackmod Enhanced theme. love the aosp slide unlock. love the power button menu with reboot, recovery, shutdown, etc. got nuance voice commands, insta-GPS and speedy menu flips, etc. swype rulez. and who doesn't love seeing an android pissin on an apple when your phone boots up?
