[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

Ah, but by then Froyo would be, er, is old news! We're drooling for cookies now! :D

Well Froyo is all you get right now friend. If you watched the Android Central main page they just got a bare bones version of CyanogenMod 7 "Gingerbread" up on the Fascinate. Its literally bare bones, very little is "working" at this point. So its still going to be some time before we see any Gingerbread love on the Epic 4g.

I figured as much, only wanted to rib you and Rag. For all intents and purposes, with all the work that's been put into this rom, I don't for see anything coming out to beat it in quite a while. You've done an excellent job. This IS what the Epic should have been to begin with, a thrashing speed demon!

@all
I'll look into the force close problem with that camera mode this weekend.

Props, Ragnarokx (from max payne?)

I haven't read most of the thread but i tried your ROM and it runs very smoothly. There are just some issues, i can't seem to install hancent, and sometimes facebook seems to crash.

Also, the battery life is an issue. I tried NEBULA Rom the battery went down only 30% after an entire day, but TERB goes down about 85-95%. Any advice?

That is abnormal behavior. I actually used Handcent yesterday to send out a mass text to 50+ people, and everyone got it. Also battery should not go down that fast.

I would try wiping and flashing the clean version of the ROM, and test for those problems before doing any kind of backup restore.

Then what do we do, where do we go for the greatest roms, for the quick responses to questions? I know that Rag said that someone else will be taking the truly epic rom back over, but not sure who this is or if they will be continuing with the rebirth addition.

Actually it looks like Ahmgsk might not be continuing support for TrulyEpic, as he is working on porting the MIUI ROM to the Epic (a HUGE undertaking).

But I'm in talks with someone here at AC to create a new AndroidCentral Epic ROM after official Froyo comes out. Might not be immediately, but I would like to continue having an exclusive ROM here for all the great members we have.

+1 for The Hat

Glad you got it working again.

Speaking of burger joints in Pasadena - I LOVE The Hat. Not for the burgers of course, but for the pastrami... yum :D

I'll buy you guys Lucky Boy pastrami, you can be the judge.

If your stopping at TER 1.2 and going threw the "drivethru" check that camera issue out if you could?
I'm running TER 1.2/Mini Theme v1.7 right now and not having any problems with any of the modes.

Did not stop at TER 1.2, went straight for 1.5 clean on top of DK28, however let's both make sure we're using the same steps to re-create the camera crash:

Camera App, Settings Gear, Camera Tab Page 1/5, 'Scene mode' Option, Tap 'Sports' causes FC.

If I have time I'll test out 1.2, since I'm not fully restored.

Maybe someone pulled the little picture of a football player that shows up at the bottom thinking it was part of the NFL App. (Not really.)

Why didn't my Market Apps come back this time? Oh well, I've been meaning to de-clutter anyway.

@eltoozero. Just verified on TER 1.2/Mini Theme v1.7 and same exact "Scene Mode" and NO FC's. Actually took a very nice closeup of my hand...

Starting to wonder if this is more of the Permissions issues involved with TER 1.5 or any of the newer ROM's Bonsai/midNIGHT running the journaling mods.

We're drooling for cookies now! :D

I like it! The unofficial 2.3 rom for the Epic should be called EDC. (Epic Drooling for Cookies)

Thanks to everyone's hard work that made TRE so awesome! Now I don't have to flash to Froyo (whenever that REALLY will be) on day one. I can get an idea of any reported issues I might have to deal with before hand.

How can i overclock my processor? i have TER ROM Installed.

I have rooted Epic with TER ROM 1.5, Mini Theme 1.7.

Dont you have to Download and flash a custom kernel? if so can someone direct me to a link to get a good custom kernel? and will it work my TER ROM 1.5 ROM?

If you stay and watch the flashing of 1.5 you'll see that it flashes its own Kernel, though im hella new still and i don't know what kernels are for, im just happy with TER :)

You have all that you need. Currently there are no custom kernels available for Froyo, since it hasn't been officially released and they haven't released the source code. Therefore overclocking while running Froyo is not possible at this time.

As soon as an overclocked kernel is available for Froyo we'll post a thread in this forum to let everyone know. Source code is usually released shortly after the software release, so it should just be a few more weeks.

Quick question on the "Mini Themes" do each version adds to the previous version or are each version as listed?

Quick question on the "Mini Themes" do each version adds to the previous version or are each version as listed?

Mini Theme 1.0 and 1.0 Lite are the originals that were put out when TrulyEpic Rebirth was first started. I joined in with Mini Theme 1.5 and 1.7 with the release of TrulyEpic Rebirth 1.2 and TrulyEpic Rebirth 1.5.

Each version as they have progressed have maintained the "original framework" of the first Mini Theme and we have added and modified things slightly as we went along by adding new wallpapers and a few app changes and custom icons. Any one of the Mini Themes should work fine with TrulyEpic Rebirth 1.5.

Ok, ran into an issue and a big one at that. My battery ran out on me the other day, upon recharging and turning it back on, the phone came back up into first time setup with all my APP's FC'ing. I restarted into CW3 and wiped everything 3X, then rebooted - same thing. I then decided I would restore from an earlier backup in CW3 and did so. Upon power up, I went through the initial setup steps and everything seemed to work fine except now only a handful of my installed apps show up in the market under installed apps.

Any ideas on #1: after a battery discharge my phone came up into first time setup with FC's; and, #2: why are only a few of my apps showing up under Installed Apps in the Marketplace?

BTW regarding #1, I read elsewhere here that someone else had run into this issue as well, but could not seem to find it in the thread.

Also, does anyone know Froyo uses EXT4 by default?

I've heard of the battery-discharge-reset issue, and I even tried to replicate it by letting my phone die but nothing happened to my system. It was just the way I left it after I charged back up. I'll try and look more into this.

Froyo will use RFS by default. As soon as we get a custom kernel based on official Froyo, we'll be in business for EXT4.

I was using TER 1.2 with no issues, then I upgraded to TER 1.5 and had various issues. So after this past week, I just decided to wipe it clean and do a fresh install of TER 1.5 with Theme 1.7.
Seems OK now. I am wonderig about the BloatWare that seems to come with 1.5 that wasn't with 1.2.
Seems that several people are having an issue with the yellow wireless tethering and so I too installed the green version. I still don't know what it is, but it seems to work. Same with my issue with PDANet. It was primarily the reason for the reinstall.
As for the bloatware - AllShare, the built in MusicPlayer, VideoPlayer, Google's News and Weather, Google Talk, Google Places, Task Manager, ThinkFree, VoiceSearch and Voice Recorder. Can these be removed? I saw a post on XDA that said a few of these could be removed, but I'm not sure how that would work with TER. Can all or some of these be removed?

In terms of this custom ROM - can other ROM's (am I using the right word here?) be added? I see something that is a custom notification menu on XDA ([Featured XDA][Notification Menu]Excuse Me! - xda-developers). I'm not sure if it's what I think it is, but it looks cool. It doesn't say its for the Epic, and I see these all the time (both here and at XDA) and I wonder if they can be added.
Additionally, I see several other Epic Rom's like TER 1.5 - Viper, Bonsai and so many others. When 2.2 comes out officially, is TER 1.5 still going to be our best option, or would one of these other potential ROM's be better suited to using and keeping updated?
I really enjoy my TrulyEpic Phone - and with minor tweaks, TER1.5 seems to be much better than 1.2 and for that I appreciate all the hard work that has been put into it.
Come out to Vegas and we'll go to a strip club!

Yes. List: Stock Apps and their .apk files (for removal)

Answer to your "themes" from the XDA link you provided, you could definately try them. I strongly suggest a backup in CWM before you flash them just incase of any incompatibilities that may arise but I have used things before from the Galaxy S I9000 platform.

Unfortunately TER will not be continued any further. We will still continue to support/answer questions on TER. It is entirely up to you what ROM you would like to run once official Froyo comes out.

The one time this happened to me, it was because I drained it down, then turned it on to drain it some more. I was trying to get as much out of it as possible when it started boot looping until I plugged it in. That when I got to find my system reset. This was also right after I flashed 1.2 for the first time, and being said ultra-n00b, hadn't quite figured out how important back-ups were... :-[ hope this helps.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what is the difference between these two:

TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 auto data restore
TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 clean install

I am on 1.2 now and want to go up but need to figure out which to use.
