[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

ADW EX is TERRIBLE in my opinion. I'm rooted with Truly Epic and have Theme 1.5 installed. I tried ADW non EX prior to root and wasn't impressed then... now I tried EX and ugh- still not all that great. I SWEAR I was within my 15minute window- was trying options to get a good feel of the app and features- and then realized I was stuck with it. I see what they're trying to do- but overall, they focus on looks rather than substance and thus why I recommend the other 3 below.

If you really want themes and customized dock- Go Launcher just updated to Go Launcher EX and has a handful of limited themes available for download. It's all FREE too. It's not a good launcher to keep switching back and forth from- you need to leave it as default for it to "get up to speed" (or the app tray will keep rebuilding) but some aspects of it are truly unique- and it's implementations of theming are simple and look great. Very polished. Also like the app tray built in task killer and recent apps tab as well as being able to sort by recently added apps.

If you want lightweight and easy- but great dock support I still say use ZEAM. Light on resources like AM Launcher - but with custom dock icon support.

If you want great overall options and widgets- Launcher Pro Plus rocks on this ROM. They've now copied ADW and added a few home screen transition animations that are nice- and the sense inspired widgets are worth the paltry sum for the non free PLUS version.

I recommend Home Manager as a home switching app- it will tell you which home apps are running even in the background and you can force kill them so you're truly running only 1.

I wanted to begin by giving you enormous creds for the truly epic rom, I enjoy it immensely.

That said, do you know if there is a way to get this rom to work with the new visual voicemail translate feature? I just flashed the app back on and it seems to be running a little odd, bunch of garbled letters instead of specific attempts to translate..

Did you already try the suggestion from post #1?

To fix force closes after restoring stock apps: Settings>Applications>Manage applications>All (at the top)>(app)>Clear data and Clear cache

I just installed the ROM, and I'm loving it so far. I do miss being able to adjust the screen brightness by sliding my finger across the notification bar. Does anyone know if there is a way to add this feature without having to switch ROMs?

That's not a ROM thing, that's a Froyo thing. The feature is still there but just harder to properly use.

i no longer have the facebook app and it is not in the market. is it found in the samsung/touchwiz zip folder?

Thanks. It took me a few tries, but it's definitely still there. I just have to move my finger really slowly. And it only does min or max brightness. No/little gradient.

My wife (and her phone) are on travel right now, but she is telling me she is starting to have connectivity problems on 3G and Wifi and restarting the phone doesn't seem to help. I remember someone on this thread reporting similar problems, but it did not seem to get resolved. Anybody still having this issue?

I get a "No Connection" message a few times a day and usually pressing "Retry" fixes things temporarily. I re-flashed TER a few days ago due to other issues but this problem was not resolved. Since it does not seem to be a common problem, I think I may go back to 2.1 and start over. Any other ideas?

What steps should i do to correct this

I had the same problem with the airplane mode turning on and off so I couldnt get a signal. I realized that I forgot to install stock dk28 and dk28 modem before installing rebirth. So I got odin and installed dk28 and dk28 modem (found in the second on how to restore factory....) and then I converted to ext... then installed rebirth. It's been a while though. I think that's how I did it. I might have converted to ext first. In any case, its the installing dk28 that helped me.

If your airplane mode is turning on and off then your problem is you came from Eclair straight up TER without flashing/installing the DK28 modem.

If your problem is only 3g data connectivity- try Settings/About Phone/System Updates/ Update Profile and Update PRL- this solved my wife's problem - however she was not rooted.

If it still doesn't work you may need to walk through the dk28 modem flash process.

Updating the PRL is worth a shot. If they are getting a signal and its just interrupted now and then, the DK28 modem should be intact or they wouldn't be getting a signal at all.

I'm leaning more towards updating the PRL and possibly areas that have a very weak signal/fighting between network and off network roaming signals.

Yes it is possible. I've been running set cpu 100 to 1000 mhz since first installing this rom with no problems. Seems to run same as it did with 2.1

How are yu doign it? I can't seem to do it on mine :/

1) Re-download the file (extra precaution), in Clockwork wipe data/wipe cache/advanced>wipe dalvik-cache twice each, and reflash the ROM.

2) Download the app from the Market first and then restore data.

I've had this ROM for over two weeks overall doing great but last week phone started resetting, only thing was that I got a new SD card. The resets always occurred when I tried to turn screen on. I took your advice as above and reflashed the ROM, redownloaded all programs fresh from the market but still had the resetting problem. I switched back to my old samsung SD card to see if this issue was from this and still resetting. Today, my phone kept resetting about 4x in a row then came back with all the data gone but applications still there. One thing is that I've been using launcher pro since I frist installed the ROM with no problems. However, after the last restart, it came force closing launcher pro until I was able to uninstall it in the task manager. Not sure yet what to do. I might first simply try this without launcher pro to see if that was the issue. If not might have to restart over from stock. Please let me know if you have any thoughts of if anyone else had this problem. Thanks!

In response to the various data resets and FC's:

As you know Ragnarokx and I both have done a lot of testing with this ROM. We have had good success, very little issues that go unresolved. We both try and install many of the apps that are mentioned and make sure they work properly with the ROM. I personally whenever someone comes up with a question/conflict will try the app that people are having problems with to see if I can reproduce any of the issues reported. Unfortunately these unknown data resets I have no answer for at this time. I have used Launcher Pro, AMLauncher, Touch Wiz and Zeam and have had no issues what so ever. Not to mention the numerous ongoing flashes and reflashes time and time again of different themes/apps/add ons to troubleshoot things.
We appreciate the feedback everyone provides and it does make a difference when trying to resolve problems.

I have never had to reinstall TER because of issues/conflicts or had any data resets.

I'm not putting this out there to stick it in anyones face, just to simply let you know we are trying and do try our very best to provide you with a quality ROM to use as a "daily driver". I'm sure Ragnarokx will have something to say concerning this as he always does, but I'm sure he shares the same feelings I do concerning these issues that some people are having.

Thanks for the quick reply Paul. I'm sure there's no way to explain every problem since we all various configurations. I'm sure I just have some program on my phone that's creating problems. Even after uninstalling launcher pro it's still resetting so I'm sure that's not the problem. But I really want to thank you and Rag for taking so much of your time to try and help me and everyone with their phones. Worse case senerio, I will just start from scratch and restall the ROM. These improvements on my phone are definitely worth the effort. Thanks man!

some1 please help. i flashed this rom mainly because i was going to get a new laptop as a graduation gift and wanted to unlock the sprint hotspot app, it is my understanding that regardless of the rom i'm running i will have to pay to use the sprint hot spot app for wireless tether. is this correct? the next step is to use my phone as a modem by tethering it via usb cable. i tried this on my brand new lap top. when i plug in a screen pops up asking if i want to charge, mass storage or tether. they all function accept for tether mode. i get an error message that says "error code 67: registration failure. your sprint login or password may be incorrect. please try again." i'm wondering if i need to install the drivers but figured that wasn't the case since the pc is recognizing the phone.... suggestions?

Use "wireless tether" from market. It works for rooted phones.

You can tether your phone to your laptop wireless using Wireless Tether for Root Users v2.0.6, located in the Market.

Sprint Hotspot app, yes as far as I know this is still a paid usage application.

I think i know what you're having with your LauncherPRo FC'ng, possibly it was the same thing that was going with me too when i first installed it, and Data Reset? what do you mean? Like, is it when you gotta input all your information once again after you Poke the LIl green android when you first bootup your phone? then yep i've gotten this too, but about the FC'ng LauncherPro

Unistall it( if you already have done so) go to the market, search Home Switcher for Froyo, install, then LauncherPro install it as well .
Open HomeSwitcher and delete all defaults then Choose LauncherPro

now after this you're welcome to restart the phone,and no more FC'ng LauncherPro

thats the only way i resolved this problem i was having with it,and if the Data Reset is how i think i explained it above, then that will also not happen if you follow this direction.

I don't see why it FC's but This will resolve the problem you got it with.
