[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

Have you ever opened and/or played with the Sprint Hotspot since flashing Froyo for the first time? This has known to cause major problems. If you did change anything in the Hotspot and restored a backup, those changes could be the culprit. If this is the case I would try wiping and installing the Clean Version of TER v1.5 to test.

If you have never opened the Sprint Hotspot on Froyo, then try flashing this zip in Clockwork. It includes the data/settings from my phone. Since I've never had a problem, I'm hoping it will overwrite whatever is causing your problems.

I never touched the hotspot. Even if I had, I did go Odin back to froyo, one click root + cwm3, to TER 1.5 Clean. I don't know where else to go from there. I just ran your zip and I'm still getting the same thing.

Update on the Mini Theme v1.7

Coming from TER 1.2 with Mini Theme v1.5 installed and doing the full version (auto backup/restore) then installing Mini Theme v1.7 no troubles...

Using TER 1.5 (Clean) when I installed Mini Theme v1.7 after a reboot I got one FC on stock messaging app. I went into CWM and Fix Permissions and all has been fine since. I went threw and opened every app included in TER and also extras I've downloaded and only that one incident.

I never tried the Eclair>Froyo>EXT4/CWM3>TER 1.5 because I felt after the first two tests this wouldn't really change things.

I will look further into this as I plan on releasing an update to the Mini Theme sometime in the near future. One of the included apps in the theme to change the icons maybe corrupting things, I'm not positive. Seems like the Fix Permissions in CWM resolves the issue.

Sorry for any inconveniences this has caused... Trial and error... Thats the way it goes sometimes..

Inconvenience? Hell, if there are people here who truly feel "inconvenienced" then they should have left their phone alone in the first place! :)

I will probably have to do a clean wipe again (not as bad as some make it out to be...) and load each app one by one to see what's causing the jam up. Which really sucks cause there's A LOT on there. :D

Anyways, to get me through the weekend at drill, any recommendations for getting a nook connected through wireless tether? I know I got my xbox to hook up to the old wireless tether, I'm sure it can be done in this instance.

Once again, thanks you guys for doing all the running around for all of us and fixing our nagging, if not petty, "inconveniences"... ;)

My experience

Just got on the android scene, done a lot of reading, now my Epic is rock solid with TER 1.5. Had issues with email and wifi tether but all resolved now.

Started at Eclair 2.1>FroyoDK28+modem via Odin>convert to EXT4/CWM3>factory reset, wiped 3x's>TER 1.2(issues with email)>reset w/3x's wipe>midNIGHT rom 3.2 AIO (stable)>uninstall wifi tether>uninstall email>TER 1.5(not clean)>install wifi tether 3.0-pre3.
Seems installing wifi tether on top of pre-installed wireless tether worked better for me, could never get wirless tether 2.0.6 to work before with Intel's latest my wifi drivers, only the old drivers that were pre-my wifi for Intel Cent Adv_N 6200 AGN.
No probs w/GPS and GPS status, hotmail works again, restored data and app with mybackup pro w/out complications.

For some reason, installing TER 1.5 on top of midNIGHT rom was stable for me, although I didn't get the cool wallpaper, phone kept midnight rom's wallpaper. Don't have 4G in my area so can't test. If u brick yours not my fault, this worked for me.
Oh and thanks Ragnarockx and others for the cool roms, this is fun.

1.5 was running fine for me. Installed the 1.7 mini theme and I'm getting reboots randomly while the phone is sleeping. Any ideas?

I won't be updating TrulyEpic Rebirth with official Froyo. If official 2.2 does get released soon, I'm going to hang up my chef's hat for the time being. I wouldn't rule out a completely new ROM sometime in the future though.

Bummer! Thanks for all the hard work, the rom is great.

Boot into ClockWorkMod recovery and select Fix Permissions. Then reboot.

Sorry I never came back to respond- past few days have been nuts. Paul/Rag thanks for all the suggestions.

I think I mentioned I got wifi tether to work after REDOWNLOADING the apk. Not sure how a file that small can be corrupted- but my 1st version I kept trying to flash never worked. The 2nd download of the same file did. And by the way- LOVE the new version. Rocks.

Also my 4g issue (never got a signal and it always kept trying to connect) must have been my AREA that night. After deciding not to wipe as it was late- next day when I got to work where I also get 4g- it worked fine! Tried that night at home- fine there too. Go figure.

Very sorry for any insinuations this was anything the theme may had caused- after a few reflashes and retracing my steps I can't say I feel there is anything wrong with the files provided.

Really sorry to hear you're hanging up your hat with this Rag- but look forward to any new ROM/Themes you and Paul cook up in the future for Epic- in the meantime- this one is PERFECT for me for some time. I never rooted until your builds- and may never feel the need to reflash till you're back!

Thanks for all your hard work.

All Sprint and Samsung apps are now in one zip, which is not made for Clockwork. You can unzip the file on your computer, pick and choose whichever apps you like and place them on your SD card. Sprint apps will self-install when selected in any file manager. Samsung apps (like MyFiles) need to be moved to /system/app. If you need a file manager to move the Samsung apps, there is one in the "app" folder on your SD card call Estrongs (which can deal with root level folders like /system/app).

I changed to this method of reinstalling stock apps so you can select exactly, and only, the ones you want.

I keep moving the samsung apps to system/ apps and I can't get them to install.it keeps saying there's a problem parsing the package when I cick on them.

i just did a wipe on my epic and restored everything using titanium backup. now the home button doesn't work. i get a vibration when I press it but that's it and nothing with a long press. any ideas?

Did you re download your apps or have the market reinstall them and do a data only restore?

Sometimes doing full app & data restores can have conflicts arise.

Samsung apps you just move over to the /system/app folder and thats it. When you go back into your app list they will appear. Sprint apps need to be clicked on to install.

By moving them to that folder you are installing them. After moving, just reboot and you're done.

That is strange. Try reflashing, shouldn't be too painful with the auto restore.

Hi. I'm having an annoying little problem that I'm hoping someone has a fix for. Background, I've been on TER 1.5 for a couple of days. Before that I was on 1.2 for a couple of weeks. Did the normal flash with apps backed up and restored. The only post flash issues I had were wi-fi tether and google framework FC's. Both were fixed from post #1 instructions. I did restore the Samsung apps and widgets by flashing the zips that were on the original TER 1.2 page (couldn't get the .APK on 1.5 post copied to /system/app. Got disk space errors). I didn't see any browser app inside the two Samsung zips so don't think that caused any issues.

Now the problem started last night. I could not get auto fit to work in the browser. I also had the screen rotation lag come up. I exited browser, turned of then back on auto fit and cleared cache. Didn't help. I fixed the screen rotation lag but this didn't help auto fit. Now the weird thing is if I rotate the screen to landscape then back (or vice-versa), the current page is auto fitted. If I change zoom, I have to rotate it to fit again. The only thing I did before things went bad was use SDX to delete some of the Samsung apps and widgets I didn't want.

This isn't the most annoying problem but if anyone has a solution or idea I'd appreciate it. Thanks for all the great work on this ROM.

upgraded to 1.5 from 1.2 with no problems!

Thanks a bunch ragnarokx, Paul627g, and everyone else contributing to this project!
