RUU 2.07.605 vs. RUU 2.10.605

Well, I got it installed the old bootloader way. Still installing but I did notice that on 2.10 the WiFi toggle on the quick setting menu pulldown is actually a toggle, not just a shortcut. I didnt see that difference pointed out anywhere. Also GPS is back to being nice and stable. Not dropping satellites every few seconds like it was with the official MR2 release. No problems yet but haven't had much time with it.

I wonder if you use fast start if a restart of phone wipes memory to get rid of jamming or loss of signal if all you're doing is sleeping and waking?

Restart does a standard reboot, even with fast boot enabled, which does clear the memory cache.

Powering off in fast boot is only hibernation, so there is a good chance for memory cache errors. If that happens, just do a standard restart.

I've only tested this once but my bluetooth doesn't appear to be disconnecting any longer. And the Wi-Fi turns on and off as it used to rather than the shortcut(s) bringing me to the Wi-Fi menu.

As it stands, 2.10 is the superior build.

Ok, here is what I found. After some time, the 3g/4g just quits. The phone part still shows bars.

If I toggle Mobile Network, I get 3g/4g back.

2.10.605 full RUU, but rooted and debloated by me.

Maybe a radio issue?

Well, I'm sad to hear that. That's exactly what I hoped GB would fix.

I did not see this on the 1st leak 2 a week ago.

So, I might either flash those radios or just install the prev backup and bring my apps up to date.

Granted i've only had this on my phone since last night but I haven't noticed that problem yet. I haven't had that problem with my phone since I got rid of MR1 with the leaked MR2 in June. Will keep an eye on it. 4G seems a bit slower for me since the install. I was easily getting close to 20mbps down before the update, now its more like 8-10mbps. Might just be a network thing, I hope, and will pick back up soon.

I've never gotten more than 8 mbps using the CNET tester. What are you using to test speed?

Something on the 2.10 update ate over 35% of my extended battery while on standby overnight. I had already turned off the assisted dialing. Not sure if it was the Blockbuster app (just disabled updates on it this morning) or what. Will keep an eye on it. I have Watchdog installed and it didnt alert me to anything.

I'll try that compared to CNET numbers. I suspect your 20 mbps reading is grossly inflated.
It's probably not an issue with the testing webpage. Currently I'm sitting literally across the street from a 4G cell site. I can see the antennas as I type. And below is my result. I think the primary limitation is a combination of back-haul capability of the local cell site, the server selected for the speed test, and any "configuration" VZW may have applied to the specific site.

This is tethered using the Mobile Hotspot: (stock ROM - Froyo MR2)

I Tested for two months straight everyday and got consistent average 14mb/s saw the thread and tested now at 5mb/s will try for the next week and see, I AM a data hog at 9 gigs per month, work overnights so I do a at least 5 hours of streaming. maybe Im the over user and must be throttled.:-[ hope not.

My readings are.virtually identical to yours. Is there any reason VZW would.do this intentionally?

Sure. Don't they advertise something like ~6down and ~4up? Note the "~". Forgot the exact VZW numbers, but these are close. That doesn't mean they intentionally do this on every site. But... they know that they can build a cell site in a location that can only support these numbers because that's all they ever estimated. If keeping a site lower will help them serve more customers in a specific area, sure, they'd do it. I would too if I were them.

I've used speedtest.net for quite awhile now, never heard of it being inaccurate. There was a problem with upload speeds when LTE first launched but never with downloads. I consistantly was getting 15-25mbps. I've seen some folks on here get up to 50mbps as well. Maybe they are throttling it a little bit now but i don't think its coincedence that mine slowed down as soon as I updated to a different radio.

I'm in Denver and hardly get 1mbps on 4G. Got 5 when I was out at DIA other than that its been terrible and I always drop to 3G even though I've got a full signal
