S6 Edge - Screen rotation does not work properly

So I'm really worried about using the fast charger now after this experience. Does anyone know if it's safe or if it's better just to use my old Nokia charger.

lol i wonder why Samsung company included fast charger into a package then, if ppl afraid to use it later....

I had the same problem. I'm on my third phone. From what I understand, it's a problem with the charger that came with the phone (the one that allows for a very fast charge). Apparently, it may be frying the accelerometer. Anyway, if you get a new phone from your carrier, don't use that fast charger on it. Verizon sent me a different charger and I haven't had any problem with this last phone.

Did anyone send theirs back to samsung for a fix? I just sent my back two days ago since best buy wouldn't exchange it out for me. I guess I had already passed the 14 day return policy. It sucks being without it but thankfully I still have my note 2 to use.

If you go to Settings>System Update>Update now, it should download a file. Somehow this fixed my rotation for me. Hopefully it fixes other phones too.

why are people assuming its the fast charger? I've been using the Samsung provided fast charger and the Motorola quick charger for awhile now with no issues.

I wonder if the accelerometer and/or gyroscope part is manufactured by varying manufacturers similar to what Samsung has done with the camera sensors.
Because folks have had new phones that function properly, use charger, immediately problem occurs.

so there is official update from SAMSUNG u saying? i am not going to buy Samsung anymore, i had enough bought 2 edge phones, not going to buy 3rd phone, its enough, i will post my videos in here later so you can see guys what **** Samsung phones we using...

God I'm hoping this release fixes the screen rotation crap. Im pissed that I sent mine into samsung to get fixed if this issue is now resolved with a firmware patch.

Have you heard from Samsung since you sent yours back? Others that have sent theirs back said that Samsung repaired/fixed something on the PCB. Ane others are saying the heat from the quick charger burned something out. If it's a software fix, it certainly can't fix a burned out component. It would be nice if Samsung addressed the issue.

Just downloaded the update. It does fix the screen rotation but it does so by switching the duty to thy gyro sensor. Checked my accelerometer sensor and it is still stuck as previously. So if you are using an app that relies on that sensor it will not work properly still.

I am Verizon customer. I am currently on my 3rd S6 Edge 32GB. Both replacements were simple to obtain and were overnighted to me with no additional cost. I was also offered a 64Gb model for 50% off however I refused and plan on getting a free upgrade once this 3rd unit fails which I'm sure it will.

Well that's good and bad. What apps use the accelerometer? Radyoactive I have not heard back from Samsung yet. It should reach their repair center today. As soon as I see something on the report I will let you know. What sucks is that if they are burning out the accelerometer with the fast charger its a pretty big issue. I just find it weird that the fast charger would do that. A couple of other phones have fast charging and not this issue.

I can confirm the Sprint update does fix auto-rotation, but as said above, it seems to now use the gyroscope for sensor data. My accelerometer still has a stuck axis. This is the same for two devices that I have.

It is sort of bittersweet, but for all intents and purposes, the phone is working as it should in terms of auto-rotation. However, there's still that nagging feeling of "my phone is broken."

What a disappointment. 3 weeks so can't just swap out. Having to send to Samsung.
They will also be getting my nicely installed Zagg screen protector.
The folks at Best Buy were aware of the problem, including the Samsung reps.
Same with the people at the Verizon store.
In both places they were all referring to the problem absolutely being heat generated failure of the accelerometer.

That being said, I guess that means Samsung will be mailing me back a rigged but still broken piece of hardware since there's no way they will have actually re manufactured anything over the next 10 days. Pathetic. Let the class action lawsuits begin.

I read where some phones get very hot when doing a combination of things like using the GPS and some other app at the same time which also could burn out certain components. I think the problem is with the accelerometer itself, or maybe just a bad batch of them and the flaw is exposed by too much heat no matter how it's generated.

Can anyone recommend an application for debugging both the accelerometer and gyroscope? I'm on verizon so AFAIK the debug settings are disabled. I'd like to make sure I know exactly what's broken if/when they attempt a software patch.

I agree with you, I've had my GS6E for about 3 weeks now and use the fast charger that came in the box once a day with no problem.
