Ay, Same thing with my 64gig S6E on Verizon.. Last night, no more auto rotate. Called the Sammy help line and it is on the way to Texas to be looked at via prepaid UPS. Help line was very pleasant. BTW, this is my 2nd Edge to stop rotating. First one was swapped at Best Buy only 5 days after getting it.

Interesting, as a response to my previous post the Samsung rep that had me send it in clearly stated that it is a software issue. However, based on what was stated on the repair tracking:

5/1/2015 5:12 PM-Alicia Ramos: The unit has left the technician. SOLUTION: Replaced PBA

I'm assuming that's the main board, thus a hardware issue not software? I'm also assuming that is the issue then? Hope it's fixed.

Here are the full notes for anyone interested, looks like it's the solution to the problem so might want to share this with everyone possible.

I did the test and it passes but i just go the phone and it is brand new. I have no intentions to fast charge until the issue is fully resolved. I'm on ATT and the tests are all listed for those wondering

I just talked to a Samsung rep this morning and he cleared the issue. Basically, it's a hardware issue that can also be fixed with a software update. There was a bad batch that does indeed overheat the accelerometer and causes it to malfunction. My PDA was replaced to accommodate this and should not suffer from these issues anymore. The purpose of the software update will be to override the accelerometer and correct the screen rotation. This to me seems like having stitches on a severe cut instead of completely healing it by replacing the hardware. I guess both work, but I would say it's still better in the long run to send it in to Samsung right now to have it replaced because even with the software patch you'll always have a faulty device and there's no excusing that.

This is exactly what I was thinking they were going to do. Bad sensor but have other sensors that can do the job just have to have the software to use them.

This "solution" did not work for me. I've had S6 Edge since April 10. Worked perfectly for 3 weeks until I used the travel "fast" charger while traveling this week. So, three weeks fine with "regular" chargers that I had previously. I put the "fast" chargers in my travel bag. First use of the car "adaptive" charger rendered the phone rotation useless.

Downloading this Rotation Lock Adaptive App did not affect this issue at all...

FYI...

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue with the S6 edge, or perhaps there is something wrong with my phone...

Got the Edge yesterday, loving it except, the screen won't rotate.

Open camera app, the screen is always oriented downwards. It will not take portrait pictures at all - it simply doesn't rotate to portrait orientation.

Open any games, they will only be oriented downwards also.

The accelerometer is functional - tested with a game "extreme car driving" that lets you control steering by phone tilt - worked fine.
However, even that game automatically instantly re-orients itself upside down when you open it.

Screen rotation is toggled on. I have tried with it off, no difference.

Have rebooted several times. Have turned phone off and left it off for an hour, turned back on, didn't help.

Have not tried a factory reset yet... not particularly keen on doing it but I guess that is my next step unless someone here has any suggestions.

Did a factory reset. Didn't help. Argh.

Google doesn't seem to turn up anyone else having this issue as far as I can see?

Model is SM-6925I
Android 5.0.2 of course..

Yo! This is an issue with gs6 and gs6 edge phones. I just went through it. The quick charge function is over heating and burning out the gyroscope. This causes all gyroscope related functions to not work and your screen not adjust when phone is tilted. i.e. Camera, apps, documents. Only fix is physical repair or new phone! Hopefully you get it addressed before your 2 week grace period ends (for Verizon customers it's 2 weeks) or else you'll get a refurbished phone!

So my S6 edge stopped rotating 2 days ago. I had bought it from Vodafone Australia. Went to the Vodafone outlet and I'm getting mine replaced in 4-5 days. Also I asked them whether the quick charge was causing this issue. They were like its a software bug and has no issues with hardware whatsoever. If it was a hardware issue it would have affected S6 original also. That's what the guys at vodafone told me. But still I will stay away from fast charge until Samsung finds the root cause of the problem.

Well, my previous post in this thread stated that I thought it was a hardware issue. ;)
So far it looks like I might be correct. That being said, I have only used my fast charger briefly, early on when I first received the phone. Since then I charge it overnight like I always do with a standard slow charger while the phone is shut off. No rotation issues for me. BUT, is my phone defective? :-\
Is there a hardware flaw waiting to expose itself down the road? :(
Should I start using my fast charger to see if it breaks a very good working phone?
What a bunch of CRAP Samsung!!!!
I do not want to go through all the pain of getting a replacement that could possibly be someone else's rejected refurbished junk, and then have to set it all up again! But I also don't want to have a flawed piece of hardware in my "new" EXPENSIVE phone!
Good job with your quality control Sammy!

tambien me pasa lo mismo

A mi tambien.

Hey everyone,
I have had my Sprint Galaxy S6 Edge since April 11th. According to Sprint this is past due the 14th day period. My question is:
Why is Sprint selling me a defective device?
I went to the Sprint store. What a waste of time. I told them I did not want to use my insurance since it was not my fault the phone came defective. Yet still they insisted and ordered a replacement phone. Which of course will be a refurbished phone. I am so mad. At this point I am not sure what to do. I think is bad business practices that they sell a phone that is defective.
Another thing I noticed is when I open the Google Maps app on the phone. It says " you shook the device" which I did not. I am thinking it has to due with it.
It all started when I left the phone fast charging over night...
My other option is to send it to Samsung.. which is what I will end up doing..
THank you

update*
Mine was made in China. Mine got really hot when using a car mount with wireless charger iOttie Easy Flex Wireless Qi Standard Car Mount Charger for Galaxy S6/S6 Edge, it also got really hot when using the fast charging.. it also got hot when using it. overall the phone was always hot !!!

Send it to Samsung, that's what I did. You will be without a phone for about 2 weeks but it is what it is. I send mine in on the 23rd and I just now got a shipping confirmation that I'm getting it back on Wednesday. At least if you send it in you'll have a peace of mind that it will be fixed unlike shipping it back to Verizon/Sprint for a chance of another faulty device.

Original Problem:
SOFTWARE UPDATE - MOBILE OS UPDATES - SOFTWARE REFLASH

Problem found:
LANDSCAPE DISPLAY FAILURE

Solution:
REPLACED PBA

hopefully it works for you, still its such BS to buy a brand new (overpriced) phone to send it away for 3 weeks to get it fixed. such a buzzkill. I had taken mine into to my carrier and they had sent it away for repairs also ( this was on 25/04/15), I told them I did not want a replacement phone as it could be faulty too. I had also got in touch with Samsung and they are supposed to be contact with my carrier to get this fixed. as I said, what a buzzkill, I maybe should have stuck with apple on gone for the iphone 6 plus.....

Ok, so this must be software related. My phone was working fine until last weekend and, after Verizon telling me they won't exchange it because it's a known issue, it's working perfectly fine today. I have continued to use the fast charger ever since the rotation issues showed up and it is back to it's working ways.

Hola, bienvenida a los foros de Android Central!

También tienes el Galaxy S6 con el defecto mencionado aquí?

Sent From my Gold Platinum Galaxy S6 Edge

Que gusto saber de otros Hispano parlantes en el forum, de donde son?

Well, for those that think that is just software related, I don't know if that's totally accurate as there has been reports where it states that it has been proven that the sensor can get damaged with over heating due to some Fast Charging adapters and maybe just the environment temperature such as Warm places.

For us down here in the Caribbean and in some of the Southern States that will be a huge risk if it's true, so for now I'm just using my 2 Wireless Chargers and just when I have need an exterem fast charge and I have my bedroom's A/C on, then I use the Fast Charging.
