S6 Edge - Screen rotation does not work properly

i think i am done with Samsung....not going to buy 3rd phone after 2 phones with faulty screen rotation....

I just got one 3 days ago...seems Luke the gyro isn't broken, but stuck. Open a level app and you will see it works, but its centered hard left. I'm going to factory reset, if that doesn't work I'll be going back to best buy to replace it.

Took over an hour to do the exchange but I got my new s6 edge and got it back to how I like it and all is well. I won't be using the fast charger!

yes i got mine black s6 edge 32gb on 4/15. On 4/17 I noticed the problem, did the online research to see what the deal was. I took it back to verizon on 4/18 and they replaced the phone, the lady behind the counter said that it was a known problem and they were informed to replace no questions asked.

At this point i decided i would baby this one and not use the fast charger. On 4/21 i said to myself, why am i paying all this money for a device and not using one of the main features (fast charger). So i plugged it in and boom, camera upside down, no rotation, etc....

Brought the phone to a different verizon on 4/21, sold out but said they would call me when it comes in and extend my 14 day window since it wasn't my fault that they were sold out. I am impatient when it comes to tech not working so i went to the original verizon on 4/22. Also sold out but said they would have one overnighted to me. Amazingly enough the phone shipped at 11pm and showed up early the next day (fedex is pretty great).

I opened the box and immediately got angry when i saw an out of the box refurbished phone. I contemplated what do for a minute and then thought to myself, maybe since this phone is refurbished and came from somewhere else it would probably work. I would gladly trade a brand new non-working phone for a refurbished phone that works like a brand new working phone.

So low and behold i fast charged the crap out of this phone twice a day, sometimes 3 and now on 5/6 still working fine.

So in conclusion i believe it is a software problem that creates a hardware problem but only a small batch of phones.

oh and for you ocd people, the verizon that said they would call me back never did.

why are people assuming its the fast charger? I've been using the Samsung provided fast charger and the Motorola quick charger for awhile now with no issues.

I wonder if the accelerometer and/or gyroscope part is manufactured by varying manufacturers similar to what Samsung has done with the camera sensors.

WHich carrier are you one and can you check the box to see where your phone was manufactured?

who cares where it was manufactured....matters only if Samsung going to fix hardware or its going to be left behind....i dont understand who is going to buy edge if its broken, lol

There are plenty of S6e users that are not experiencing these issues. Documenting specific device differences is a way for AC S6e to do our due diligence. At least we feel like we are doing our due diligence, lol.

so how come, that some s6 edge users not have such issues and some have issues? whos fault is that then?

So I'm really worried about using the fast charger now after this experience. Does anyone know if it's safe or if it's better just to use my old Nokia charger.

Samsung's obviously, as the manufacturer they are ultimately responsible for producing a working device.

More specifically it may be that the particular malfunctioning component was produced somewhere else by a 3rd party but that isn't the consumer's fault, that's up to Samsung to catch through QA processes.

It's probably a bad batch of one specific component, no great mystery or conspiracy, just a bad batch.

Still waiting for my carrier to replace mine. :(

Does anyone else feel like we've been completely abandoned by Samsung on this issue? We're quickly closing in on a month after the initial release and many of us have had this problem from day one. I'm currently stuck on my second broken phone (Verizon does not have any replacements) and I cannot get anything remotely close to an answer from Samsung's customer service.

Every I time I hear some customer service rep tell me "It's a small batch of phones" and "in rare cases" I want to scream. If it's so rare, how are so many of us on our second and third phones?! Honestly I feel like the problem is likely much worse and there are people who simply haven't noticed yet.

I pretty much refuse out of principle to send back a brand new phone in the off chance they manage to actually give me a phone that works. This would be so much easier to deal with if I knew how to react. If it's simply a bad batch and there's a chance I'll eventually get a working phone, I'll sit back and wait. If I'm going to spend the next six months replacing my phone every three weeks... well, that's not happening.

Love the phone, but good lord... never had a company just completely ignore a problem quite this bad.

I completely agree. My Verizon 64gig S6 Edge is currently in Texas being repaired for rotation problem. This is my 2nd phone with the problem.
Interesting that the status of repair is "on hold waiting for part"... If they are running out of "repair parts" then I suspect the problem is much more wide spread.
