Samsung.com Orders

I preordered on the first night and my S20U hasn't shipped. I talked to Samsung today and was told "we don't know," why or when it will ship, but that it was guaranteed to get here by the 17th. I stated that it was the lack of straightforwardness I felt I was getting that was frustrating.

To be honest, everyone here seems to regret their choice, the reviews are bad, this preorder experience has been turd-tier and the Pixel 4a is right around the bend. Add to that I still have no idea of when I might get the $1600 phone I preordered nearly a month ago, so the hype is dead by now.

Before I hit cancel, I was hoping the community could share some thoughts.

Sorry you are having trouble. Seems like most folks with this issue canceled the original order and re-ordered.
I love my S20+...great form factor, camera rocks, 5G service, which will only get better. Screen is beautiful...
The reason you hear more complaining vs positive feedback is because negativity loves company...there are many happy S20 owners...but you obviously need to do what you feel is best for you.
Samsung should be buying this phone for you after putting you through this...no excuse for this mess.
I hope you get your phone and love it...

Not everyone agrees it's a turd. Some don't think the camera works good enough, it's fine for me but I don't expect professional pictures from it nor do I look for professional quality. Everyone is different, but remember you always hear the negatives more then the positives. I suggest trying it and decide for yourself. I love the 120 refresh rate, they say the new processor is 30% faster then the note 10+, I have to agree, the battery lasts longer even with the 120 refresh. For me, even coming from the note 10+, I notice enough differences. I say go for it, you can return it if you don't like it.

I appreciate the responses folks. I get Covid-19 is a thing and that 512 modules are probably not ramped up in terms of production, but just...say that. I was reading other sources that said these 512s aren't shipping until May. That's to long, right? Pre-order a phone that you get 1 fiscal quarter later...? That's insane. I've used the pre-production model, I think the camera is ok, but I'm starting to feel like...aggressively underappreciated as a customer. I know I'm a drop in the bucket, but there are other options out there. Has anyone else had this experience on these devices or in the past? I have never had this happen when pre-ordering iPhones (wife, family members, myself). Never pre-ordered Androids before.

Edit: By "just say that" I meant Samsung, not the community.

Every company has these stories when it comes to preordering. You just happen to be one that didn't get their phone yet. With the virus, I would expect future phones coming out in the future to have delayed release dates.

I don't regret my choice. There's no way I'm interested in a Pixel 4a. If I was going to get a Pixel I'd get the 4XL or wait for the 5 series.

I respect where you are coming from about the Pixel, but to me value is a synthesis of price to perceived "what am I getting for that price?" This means it differs for each person. I like the fingerprint reader and hopefully better battery of the 4a to the 4, but yeah waiting for the 5 is probably the better play there...until you consider price. I am not enthused about Samsung as a brand after the last few days and the way custom service has treated me. I understand to the max about how supply chains are being impacted right now, but its the "Samsung Mystery" bs you get from them that activates my almonds. Just like the anxiety caused by having an issue every single time I send them back a trade in (Google this, very well documented). We're at a price point now of 1600 dollary doos and this bush league act is a much more bitter pill to take. Thanks for the i put Mike Dee.

Once Again, I "Like Mike" as I as I have a Pixel as a back up for the last couple years (Pixel 2 and 3. Skipping 4/4a but will get the 5..
S20+ will be my main unit used with the Galaxy Watch ...

I love the simplicity of the Pixel and being part of the Betas

For me the the 4a is a deep contrast to a 1600 dollar device so that's where a part of me is coming from. If you can tide off with something older for less money until the 5 comes out could be an option. You could certainly trade up from the 4a to the 5, or if you feel the 4a will suit your needs just keep. In the end it's your decision. Ultimately these devices do all of the same things, just differently.

Yeah....the betas are always tempting but I advise some people not go on them. I'm referring to people who use the Pixel as their sole or primary device. Sometimes they don't listen because they feel like they are missing out and that's when the "fun" begins.

Yeah it's all preference and different people see difference value. Personally love my Pixel phones. iPhones are my first favorite followed by Pixel and then Samsung. I never care about million different Samsung features. It's purely my opinion but I enjoy using Pixel more than any Samsung phone. Then why I get every Samsung phone? Because I can and no one can stop me . I like Samsung phones but just prefer the iPhones and Pixel more than the Samsung phones. And yes no way in hell I would get 3a or 4a, love the 4 XL and will get the 5 XL. The 'a' series is great value no arguments but it's not for me since I'm not looking for value purchase.

Yeah, I full retailed a 512 Ultra on day 1 of preorders and have gotten the shaft thus far and it kind of made me re-evaluate the law of diminishing returns. Is an S20 Ultra going to do (FOR ME) 1100 more than a 4a? Nah. I pre-order the top spec iPhone every year too, have never had this experience and can justify the price because of how integrated the product is with other Apple products right out the box. AirDrop and iMessage for example.

Just, this preorder experience has been a face slap eye opener for how Benny Hill theme song crazy Samsungs wacka-doo Samsung ways are.

Yeah. Verizon is still saying "April 17th" for a 512. I'm, literally, not buying that as I canceled my order. Doesn't bode well for the Note20. I am pleased that I bought an S20 Ultra 128/12 as a placeholder until the 512s became available. New phones might be delayed across the board so I'm very happy with what I've got.

How did you cancel? They REFUSE to cancel my order. I have gone from mildly disappointed to getting rid of all my Samsung stuff because of how non transparent they are being. Absolutely awful.

I called them this past Saturday. I didn't try to rub it in their face or anything. I tried that last August when they thoroughly botched my Note10 Plus order. I have been moving lines to my Xfinity account but I have been dragging my feet a bit out of consideration for a younger brother.

*I am referring to an order placed with Verizon, just to be clear.

Yeah mine is placed directly with Samsung. I know I won't be looking at their brand for awhile after this. I even pleaded that I understand Covid-19 is making things very challenging, but they just keep blowing me off...oh well, just a phone.

I sympathize with you though my recent experiences with Samsung are mostly pleasant. The one 'grudge' i hold with them is for their emasculation of the Note 5 back in 2015. When they removed the micro SD card slot from that version of the Note I couldn't bring myself to buy such a watered-down device so I bought an LG V10 which was, for its time, plenty powerful but quirky. LG's inducement to buy was a 200GB micro SD card and a spare battery w/charger. I still have the V10 (and V20, a Note7 stand-in) and it can still keep up with newer phones somewhat. I try to use all my more recent older phones during the year on my second or third line and amazingly they fare pretty well.

Wait, did you say you still have a Note 7 or did I read that wrong?
