Re: Msg "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

I have similar problems as discussed in the thread. some of the apps in my S3 is not working. It says unfortunately stopped working... My google play store, application manager, whatsapp etc are not working. As some of you suggested to clear cache, i am not even able to go to application manager to try that. not been able to delete google play store app. I have already tried the factory reset and the button reset as suggested by another forum. can someone please help me to reinstate my phone to original settings. I dont mind losing any data or apps. If someone know a solution, kindly give a step by step instructions so i can try accordingly. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Re: Msg "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

I have a generic tablet that is running Android 4.01 (I think it's 1). It has this same message that pops up when I reboot, since it froze. However, I can't even try the suggestions because I can't get beyond it to even bring up a menu! I click okay and then "Unfortunately, launcher has stopped" pops up, I click "Okay" and it keeps popping up, then goes back to the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped, and the whole cycle repeats--forever! How can I fix this? I can't even reset to factory settings since I can't bring up a menu! HELP!!!!!

Re: Msg "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

Sherryl,
There should be some way to boot the tablet into a maintenance menu (what we on the Galaxy S III refer to as Recovery mode), and from there you should be able to reset the tablet back to the way that it was when it came out of the box.

Who is the manufacturer, and what model is it?

Re: Msg "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

Summary of Google Play Store not responding fixes:
1. go to Settings -> Application manager -> ALL, find 'Google Play Store' and select it - Clear cache, if that doesn't work Clear data, if that doesn't work Force stop; if that doesn't work Uninstall updates (restart the phone between each intermediate step)
2. go to Settings -> Application manager -> ALL, find 'Google Services Framework' and select it - Clear data, if that doesn't work Force stop
3. go to Settings -> Application manager -> press the Menu button -> select 'Reset app preferences'
4. go to Settings -> Application manager -> ALL; scroll to the very bottom of the list and see if 'Downloads' is disabled - if it is, Enable it; also see if 'Google Account Manager' is disabled and if it is Enable it
5. go to Settings, find the Accounts group, select Google, select your Gmail address then select the 'Remove account' button. Restart the phone then add your Google account back.
6. Last is the dreaded Factory Reset - go to Settings -> Back up and reset -> Factory data reset. Be sure you've: synced your Google account; saved any pictures/videos to your computer or SD card or the cloud; saved any SMS/MMS that you care about (the Kies software is the only reliable method I've found to backup/restore MMS); saved your call logs if you care about that; backed up your application data if you want to save your game progress, etc.

Sorry, you're not being clear. Did you remove your Google account and now you're trying to add it back?

Are you setting up the tablet for the first time?

What brand/model tablet is it, and do you know what version of Android it's running?

Re: Msg "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

My samsung S3 phone has the message "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" displayed everytime it connects to wifi or mobile data network, either to update or what ever, and after that the phone hangs for exactly a minute. Nothing else seemed to change henceforth in the usage of phone, but now I've noticed it doesn't open or update google play store.... Its very frustrating that I have tried everything related to app store... I've cleared cache, cleared data, force stopped it, restarted... wat not..??
I am even okay with factory reset, but the messages in my phone need to be saved as they r work related and important. The problem lies even here, every software that allows back up of msgs on laptop requires a software from android store on the phone too.... So its a vicious circle...... HELP...!!

Not true - you can use the Kies software on your PC to backup your SMS/MMS (among other things).

See post #114 for other Google Play Store crash solutions.
