Samsung's UI will always be better than stock

I have a note 8 tablet running paranoid Android. S open works perfectly. Just not with any of the horrible Samsung apps that came with the tablet, 4.2. S pen is hardware.
Patented Samsung hardware. Meaning no one else can do that. Samsung owns WACOM.

Still hardware, being stock Android is not the issue. No one is stopping other companies from building their own s pen, LG does it, Apple did it, and did it fairly well, just not as good. You can even buy digital pens that work similar to s pens.

Actually no they don't. The digital pens you buy are powered so that the screen can register their touches because there needs to be a specific electric charge for something to be registered on capacitive screens. Thats why they can only register up to a certain size. When it's too small, it can't register. S Pen works different where the screen emits an electromagnetic field, the pen uses that field as an energy source and creates a disturbance in the field that the Note detects. Basically the S Pen technology isn't the pen, it's the screen.

I expect some of these changes to appear in Nova one of these days. (The grid size on both the desktop and the app drawer have always been expandable to more icons than anyone could actually use.)

I read a couple of the points, not all the way through because I like reading the full article, not reading a slideshow.

The few reasons I saw were subjective. I personally don't care for Samsung's everything and the kitchen sink approach, but that's just me.

Stock isn't the Google Now Launcher.

Stock isn't the Pixel Launcher.

Stock = AOSP + Google's suite, if i'm not mistaken.
From there, you are at your own liberty to add what you wish, not have it crammed down your throat.
i would think NOT being told how to use the device you paid for would "always be better".

Samsung's interface is extremely limited. If that is all you want or need, go for it. Million of other people will want options that are not available with the stock interface.

But stock Android slowly gets these features every year. Every Android update I see something that Samsung has already had for years already. And these features make it better they are not crammed they are just part of the UI if you need it it's there if not no need to use it. I'd rather have the option than nothing at all.

That's just it, you do have the option with a bare bones UI.......it's called the Play Store. Just add what you want and don't add what you'll never use.

You fail to see his point. He has the hardware in the Note 8 but is running a custom ROM that rips out all the crap software features he doesn't use. Best hardware plus bare bones UI is the dream many try to achieve as it makes for a truly customizable, lightning fast experience.

I didn't realize the Note 8 could run custom ROMs. I left the romming seen when everything started to get locked down hard by the OEM's in collusion with the carriers. I wish I had my Note 8 back so I could try it but let me guess........you have the Exynos version.

Personally I don't get the hype over stock android. To each their own. To me it's blah, like apple.

I have the tablet, made in 2013. It's old but built like a tank and still runs good, battery is going bad though.

Seems like some participants from AppleInsider have stopped by. Now that's a site based on uncontrolled rage.

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

Yeah, I just don't understand how a company as large as Samsung won't get serious about timely updates to their flagship devices. It's mind boggling
There really isn't an incentive for Samsung to provide speedy updates. Look at what has happened to Apple over the last year. Fast updates have crippled their smartphones. Samsung has a winner why would it interfere with prolonged success of the No+e8 just to show they can quickly provide updates? It wouldn't be a good business move at this point. Plus, what would OREO really bring to the Note8?

Yeah, you have a valid point. Oreo may bring some added features but I don't think it's gonna be a MAJOR update. Samsung's UI is already feature packed and IMO ahead of stock Android. There is NO LAG on this thing and it's still fluid and super fast.

I just posted a question on the "Oreo Beta" page on the XDA Developers Site asking what major differences they've seen over Nougat. There's quite a few guys running it on the Note 8 over there. Let's see if I get any decent answers!
