Well so far the update works well and i really did notice a difference on boot up speed and how smooth every thing is I updated using the update.zip method I used skyfire to down load the zip while at work then used ES file explorer to move it to the root of the sd card and updated using the update.zip with out a computer...

After i got off work rooted with the one click method and all went well...

Hi all, I am 100% stock. After the zip upgrade, I cannot play any media. I've rebooted etc. Any suggestions? I can't even open winamp or music player, it just force closes...

One thing i have noticed now is in the apps are not sorted like they were before as i move through the pages there are 2 or 3 open spots on each card hoe do i sort them to be like they were before?

OK.
Started off from TER 1.2, and I was going to wait, but GULLDARNIT I want BT voice dialing.
Odin'ed back to DI18. Got a GPS fix. Wiped the phone. Odin'ed again. Got a GPS fix. Then ran update.zip before reloading ANY information.

I'm two hours in, have reloaded all my info, and so far everything seems to be working alright. Will have to see how the phone performs over the next couple days.

Bummer my Quadrant score is back under 1K...

You will have to resort from time to time. Apps wont auto fill those spaces in TW. Kinda lame really...

menu - edit - menu again - A-Z sort - menu - save

Thanks bud worked like a charm is kinda stupid its set up that way but i guess its no big deal i am not adding and removing apps all the time so wont bug me much :) so far have been happy with 2.2.1

hey guys

having trouble updating my fiances phone to froyo. on eclair, i used z4root to gain root access, and if i remember right i only did that so she could use wireless tether. since the update has been available, i "unrooted" using z4root. i downloaded the zipfile from samsung, tried to do a manual update via the stock recovery, and it fails when it checks the system. tried a factory wipe and a cache clear, still no luck. help?

I'm having an error when updating from SD. It's not updating, citing a problem with system/bin/playlogo. I'm rooted and until earlier, had deleted the bloatware. I restored said bloatware, and now this problem. Any suggestions?

After looking around in my files, I noticed I had replaced the original playlogo file with something different. I renamed the newer file, and restored the old playlogo file and the install proceeded without issue. Now on to the rooting.

Is there any to control what programs/android go to SD card. Do only certain programs(a.birds) seem to DL to SD card? Sorry if already answered..

No waiting for my ota......woot!

got home late tonight, glad to see there was a way to update manually. No issues so far. GPS works (maps and foursquare locks fast). Got all my contacts resynced. Facebook contacts wouldn't sync until I logged in via the browser, then all was well.

for some reason only two contact pictures are showing up in the messaging app (there are about 50 threads in there). Some of the numbers did no sync up to the appropriate contact either (ie 1-222-333-4444 in contact will not override the 2223334444 in the messaging app). I used SMS Backup & Restore to save my messages to SD, then restored once I updated. I'll give it a day or two until I start getting some texts in and see if the problem persists.

Other than that, the update went well. I do notice speed increase in general. The revamped message app gets a thumbs down from me (I liked the basic style, not the colored bubble crap)
