I don't really see it as dragging their feet when Samsung clearly provided us with an availability date. It would be nice to get it early but it's not promised to us.

Same here, not a while lot of chatter with the Sprint camp. So, I'll watch here and hope we're not too far behind.

Someone on XDA replied to me when I asked if we will have it by saturday and they said they think so based on what others with connections to tmobile are posting on the forums. I ordered black and around noon on 8/4 so I would think I would be part of the first wave to go out.

Already not happening as early as the S7's. I got my S7e 12 days before retail release. 2/29. As did many. I ordered that S7e about 30min after preorders went live...and did the same with the N7. I'm on JOD.
There's a really good chance people will start getting notices in a day or two. Probably the 11th, 12th. It'll probably ship from Lexington, KY as they have in the past. No doubt Tmo will be first again. They were with the S6, Note5...and probably further back as well.
Only bummer this time around, is the new fine print for the promo. With the S7's, it was 6 weeks they had to get your gift to ya. Turned out, that was spot on for my VR. This time, it says they have 12 weeks to send the gift. That means people need to take a deep breathe and be ready to wait till November for that promo gift to arrive. No doubt there will be anxious hysteria in the forums for several months

At this point I don't even care about the gift. I care about getting the phone. My estimated ship date has been jumping around and not in a good way. It went from 8/18-8/19 to 9/6-9/20 then back to 8/18-8/19 then to 8/23-9/6. So I'm pretty annoyed because I thought the point of pre-ordering was to get the device at least by release date. I've been told by several reps on chat, phone, and Twitter that it's an error and I'll get my phone by the 19th since I ordered on the 4th.

Why does Samsung allow companies to release it early in other countries though? Why do they get special treatment?
