Thanks. I called my local Sprint and BB stores and they both said they didn't know the off contract price, for some reason. $549 is way better than the $700 price that's on BB's website, possibly just a placeholder price though.

I'm annoyed that they treated me like a moron. If you have the phone and you can't sell it to me that's one thing, if you have the phone and you tell me that you don't have it and your getting your shipment in on Sunday that's another. I know they use UPS and I know UPS doesn't deliver on Sundays.

As an aside I did put a request in a month ago with the manager at the Sprint store near where I work...nice guy. Anyway he said he would call me when they got them in. His exact words to me were "Once they are physically in the store I can sell and activate it." Anyway, I waited. And waited. This morning I called the store but the manager was not in yet. i asked if they had gotten the Nexus in, the sales person was vague but ultimately said they could sell the Nexus on the 9th. I said thanks and hung up, resigned to waiting until Monday. Not even 90 minutes later my cell rang and it was the manager who informed me he had gotten only 2 Nexus in, and that one was set aside for me. I asked if I could get it either today (Fri) or tomorrow. he replied that he needed to make a phone call to make sure and he would call me back. About 15 minutes later he called and said he could sell it immediately if I wanted it. 10 minutes later I was activated and extremely happy. Phone drips awesomeness.
That's my story...a happy one for a change.

If anyone in Denver metro has gotten one let me know where I've called 4 stores and getting the same not til Sunday b.s I can wait except for I have an Epic that's great for texting and net but the phone functions are failing. Almost got the Evo last week but waited for this phone. (been a long week)
Just called 3 stores, 1 of which said no. Another said Yes sure. And then the 3rd was where I had planned to purchase it I mentioned another store was selling it can I purchase it here. And they said yes the manager just approved it.
So going there after work! Yey!

So, ultimately, it's looking like Best Buy can't actually sell the phone early, whether they want to or not, since Sprint isn't activating them and you can't leave BB with the phone not activated?

And btw what is up with Sprints utter lack of communication to their stores?! If there is a soft launch shouldn't all these corporate stores know about it? It's kind of aggitating not in the fact of not getting one but the fact that some stores are selling them and others aren't do to some "Privey" information or soft launch that does or does not exist...

At first i thought so as well but im used it having a palm pre right now and only having 8GB of internal storage.
My corporate store wouldn't budge and I spoke with the same guy who pre-ordered it for me from the get go, he said he didn't have a way to even sell it to me before Sunday.
