It means a device you can use. And yes, my Best Buy doesn't have any of those either. Also, one would expect that "Mocks" that were usable and thus probably based on the same hardware.... would not be available right at launch particularly if there is concern about the # of units available.

It's also possible the launch date got pushed back to 2/28, but I wouldn't see "mock" units as being a) critical to or b) indicative of a launch.

I just called 611 on my phone and talked with Verizon cs. She kept saying they have no information on TBolt. I kept asking about release next week and she said "If it was coming next week they would have known by now". The I asked when do you think it will be available, she said " Week of Feb 28 or later"

I hope she is wrong, take it with grain of salt.

I have been following this forum for a few weeks now but I have just joined for two reasons. #1 I just got off the phone with my local Verizon store and (take this for what its worth, it was just a local VZW rep.) He said that the original date was to be the 14 but that it got pushed back to the 24 because of the Iphone, but it is looking like it will be the 28 now. It may possibly be the 24 but in his opinion it will be the 28. Again that is the opinion of a local rep.
#2 I am swapping from AT&T to Verizon as soon as the bolt comes out due to very bad service in my area that is constantly getting worse. I have a 3GS now and I love it but I am really looking forward to my first droid. I still have a few months left on my contract on 2 of my lines but my third was upgraded last June to an Iphone 4. Does anyone have any experience in getting out of an AT&T contract without paying an ETF. I would normally wait till my contract is up, but I feel that AT&T is not keeping their end of the contract by maintaining their service area. Feel free to contact me by email. Thanks

I see a lot of people going from the Storm to the Thunderbolt, myself included. Really really really hope this phone is not another Storm!

Best buy doesnt really use mocks...they are all dummies the only none dummy is the nexus s...im using a rumor touch loaner phone so it better come out the 24th....cause after i lose the loaner phone back to best buy i wont have a phone...i think verizon will be announcing it monday....they havent even announced the xoom yet (well from what i hear they havent) and that releases the 24th as well so if HTC really shipped the phones and they fix that LTE issue it looks def probable that we will get the phone the 24th...anyone disagree?

I don't agree. Verizon can only do one thing at once. Maybe xoom drops on 2/24 and Bolt the following week.

The Xoom is different, and is treated differently by Verizon. They wouldn't delay the Bolt by a week just to give the Xoom a week to itself. We already know Best Buy is advertising both the Xoom and Bolt in this week's ad; I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to launch both this week.

Oh, and I stopped in my local VZW store tonight to play with the DroidX, since I might (emphasis on might) choose to swap my iPhone for it if the Bolt isn't out Thursday. There weren't any customers there, just employees cleaning up, and while I was playing with the X I heard them talking about accessories they just got, which include some for the...Thunderbolt!

When I was ready to leave the store manager stopped me and asked me what I was thinking, and my situation. I explained that I had till Friday to exchange the iPhone, and was looking at the Thunderbolt but didn't know when it would be out. He said 'oh yeah, your last chance. Just wait until the end of the week to see'. Not a confirmation per se, but more than I would have expected to get.

Don't get too excited. We had VZW and BB employees saying the EXACT same thing regarding the 14th date.

Sorry to be the downer this time, but when I preordered 8 days ago there were already cases at my Best Buy. They were supposed to arrive together, they said, but the phone wasn't with them >.<

I wasn't really saying that it meant anything, I just thought it was interesting.

did someone already post the facebook info about the 24th release?

on the HTC Thunderbolt 4G with Verizon Wireless
Product/Service profile?

Someone posted some info on some "Verizon 4G LTE" Page about the Tbolt, but it wasn't an official Verizon page. Not sure if that's what you're talking about, though.

I agree with this in principle. The problem I have is that Verizon CHOSE to show the phone off at CES, They CHOSE to flaunt a Q1 release, and then they tweeted on their official Twitter that it could come "Sooner than expected"

First, had they said 2011 and left it at that, none of this wild speculation and hysteria would be happening. Second, if they would "officially" Tweet, Press Release... ANYTHING that it was "Still on schedule for a Q1 launch" or "First/last week of _____" or even a date (Even March __th) we could stop all the hoopla and sit back and wait. They started the madness by opening their mouths, and now they won't say anything to stop it. Instead they let the advertising blitz start and stay mum.

I had a Droid X, and it was riddled with problems at launch. I had a Fascinate, and it's STILL having problems (there's a new one each week!) and I'm quickly souring on this phone, because I don't want to be a "Beta Tester" again. They creating their own problems by saying something, and now those problems are festering because they wont say ANYTHING

Ah, but they didn't do anything wrong. That's the thing.

They showed the phone at CES, they announced a Q1 release date. They've got over a month left to make Q1. The problem here is that a bunch of people took leaked screenshots of estimated arrival/availability times and took it as gospel... Sooner than expected? What *exactly* were we to expect?

It's pretty widely known that the original launch date of the device was March, but was pushed forward to Feb 14th. Verizon obviously wasn't confident with that date, and as a result they didn't say anything about it. Good thing they didn't, eh? It's the 19th, there's no phone. The 24th? Well, here we go again. Phone rumored to be delayed. Once again, Verizon didn't say anything because they weren't sure they could deliver.

You're forcing them into a no win situation guys. Seriously. You're going to cry foul if they keep silent until they know, and you're going to cry foul if they tell you something and don't deliver it.
