Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

Can't say who told me, but you all know how I am about unsourced rumors. I wouldn't be stating it here if it wasn't true.

Feb. 24. HTC Thunderbolt.

That is all.

Given all of the speculation with today's Best Buy circular and the correction notices, I wonder if @PhilNickinson has heard anything new/different.

I really, really, REALLY want my new phone this week (like everybody else!).

No idea how reliable this site is, but the article is dated Monday, February 21st ...

From http://www.gizmocrunch.com/android/5483-htc-thunderbolt-release-date-verizon-iphone : But it doesn't unfortunately end there. The source goes on to point out that because Verizon is pushing the HTC Thunderbolt as the first LTE 4G capable smartphone ever, and LTE is the biggest thing in Big Red's books for 2011, we can expect the HTC Thunderbolt 4G to only launch around the “first or second week of March.”.

they're pounding the comercials tonight....gotta be coming out this week

Yup 4 times during the All Star already and I flipped to ABC at half time and saw one there.

they def puttin that commercial out tonight, i seen the commercial twice in 1 commercial break during this All Star game 1st one said February at the end and 2nd one was that revised one we been seeing were February was replaced by "coming soon"

Look for a March release since they pulled the February part of the video.

i seen both versions of that commercial tonight, seen it twice in one commercial break 1st one still said February at the end 2nd one was the one we been seeing were February is replaced with "coming soon"

Phil let us know he heard the 24th was confirmed. Im sure if their was a delay, he would tell us.

In other news. lol. Looks like i was wrong about my store having the TB in stock. I used the SKU from the BB ad to check on rss and saw we didn't have any in stock. Figured i would let you guys know so i wouldn't look like a liar. I asked my co worker what the deal was and he looked confused. SO he checked back with me about 15 minutes later and said we were supposed to be getting our shipment this week but instead only got more cases. So he definitely lost some cool points for that. But our in stock date is still the 21st so im still looking at the 24th for launch. Sorry for that hiccup.Lol this is why i said im not a source lol.

I was at the mall today and asked the guy if he knew info since he had a huge ad by the kiosk for it. He handed me the dummy which made my day lol and said he had a release date of march 1 and gave his card and said to come back to get it then so here we go again lol. He was the manager and this was a premium retailer.

I think your best bet is to take everything back to Verizon and cancel the contract within the 14-day period, then you can start all over again when the Bolt is out, if it does not come out within the 14-day period. There may be a restocking charge, 'though. If you stay on your contract and sell your new phone on eBay, you're stuck in your contract for 2 years and will have to buy a phone at full retail price.

There's a non-corporate Verizon store near me (Pennington, NJ) that will bend over backwards for people like giving you an old phone as a loaner until the phone you want comes out. But these types of shops are few and far between. The owner is rather creative at finding solutions for people, but the corporate stores never do that kind of thing.

Well, I mean, can they convert my current contract to month to month if I return everything, and then allow me to sign a new 2 year whenever the TB comes out? I would be using a crappy VX8700, but I can live with that if its only a week or two. I would prefer to not leave Verizon since their service is good, and it would just be easier to keep it all within the VZW system.

You need to speak with them as soon as you can to verify, but I think you can return everything (with restocking fee) and either cancel the contract or use the VX8700 on your current contract and still get the reduced price on the Bolt when it comes out. Why do you want to switch your contract to month to month?

Why are you so convinced it isn't? We haven't heard one way or another yet.

Different reports have come out today saying it is being delayed until the first or second week of March, plus we are only a few days away and verizon is still not talking, they also pulled the Feb out of their commercial.. All of this points to it definitely being delayed until sometime in March (which is total bs) but it is what it is :( I am obviously hoping this is not the case, but it sure looks like it is.

Just realized that Steve Jobs Birthday is Feb. 24th!!!! No wonder they pushed it back again! I hate you Apple!!

Listen friend. There are reports it's been delayed. There were also reports it would be out on the 14th. There have been pictures, emails everything. The best thing to do is stop looking for leaks and just wait for an announcement. That's the only thing that will keep you sane.:)

Here's a tip (and its one that I've taken advantage of): Stop paying attention to anything that isn't VERIZON announcing a date. There have been so many conflicting reports, rumors, and innuendo, that, to be perfectly frank, its getting hard to separate the bull**** from anything that might be true. Until the phone is launched, and to keep yourself sane, just ignore all of it.

Well I wasn't sure if they would allow me to get a new phone at reduced pricing if I was still under the 2 year. (even with the other phone being returned) I'm going to call to check. I don't have a problem using the VX8700 for a week or two. (If I can find it that is...)

Alright, so with the Best Buy fiasco, and just uneasiness about the date, I have a question. I bought a VZW iPhone 4 on the 11th, with the intention of going back to iOS. I miss Android too much, however. I was expecting the Bolt to have been on sale by the 25th, which is the last day of my return period.

So here's my question: Do you think the reps at the VZW store would cut me ANY Slack at all if the phone comes out on the 28th? I was thinking of going in sometime this week and talking to them about it. I would love to stay with VZW because their coverage is so much better, but I want an Android phone, and I don't want any of the ones they currently have.

If they can't do anything, I'll just sell my iPhone on ebay and purchase the Bolt outright, but I'm hoping they will.

they wont cut you ANY slack.. you signed an agreement agreeing that if you dont return it within 14 days you are stuck in that 2 year contract. GET RID OF THAT POS lol and go back to your old phone and wait for the Tbolt to come out

I would say return it. You are going to incur a restock fee but it will be worth it. At the same time I would start checking CraigsList or eBay to see if you can find someone local who is selling an older cheap phone that you can use until the rumored 24th date. Not sure if you transferred your number over or not but if you did cancelling your line will cause you to lose that number so you will need something to placehold it.

Was just looking, and if worse comes to worse, I could pick up a Kin One (yeah, I know) for $119. Or, if I wanted to save a ton of money, just do a prepaid for $100 or less. (I'm not sure if I can keep my number with the prepaid though. Their site didn't make it clear. I SHOULD be able to though, because I'd just be using the phone)

Or, to just keep things simple, just stick with the iPhone for now and sell it and buy the Bolt outright. That might just be easier than messing with that stuff.

Way more expensive to go that route. Don't expect to get too much for that iPhone for long. Pretty soon the 4G version will be out this summer.
