Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

After waiting this long, why would you give up at the very last second?? It's like watching a tied up game at the super bowl this Sunday and turning off the TV during the last 2 minutes. What's the point of that? To stick it to the NFL?? That's just silly

All sorts of leaked information - as well as sneaky panda tweets from blackmanx - say the device WILL drop in February. You aren't going to have to wait much longer before getting the information you want since the end of February is almost only 3 weeks away, and you KNOW they are gonna drop information, and likely this phone, well before that

Just stick with it bro. Based on the dates we're seeing, logic would say that you'll know all this information within a week. Giving Verizon's multi-million exclusive deal they have with the NFL, they'll have plenty of air time during the Super Bowl. What better time to run an ad announcing the official release (including prices and dates) of their 4G network ;)

I agree with you but VZ online chat playing games as well. Once they say 2/14 next day they say "we have no information". This is just crap, if customer ask they need to provide reasonable response.
Hopefully they will have something on Sunday!! Or else i may give up very soon.

Ok I get it. No reason for 100 replies saying it has been there. I have not seen it on AC yet and if it is please delete this.

sorry, we were giving the info. We are all here for the same reason. Give/Take info about Thunderbolt!!!

Eh, this has been kinda fun if you ask me. Especially all the people trying to drill the online chat reps for info. That crap is priceless :D

I too am just as exasperated. When I go into Best Buy on Sunday morning and do not walk out with a pre-order slip in my hand, I am going to be sorely disappointed.

I am already going to get an iPhone for the wife, and as much as I resist the idea I just might end up with two if I am that disappointed.

If do feel for as long as the device has been announced, at CES of all places, there should be more concrete information known by now. Two years ago when the Pre was announced, it wasn't long before you knew when it was going to be release and were reading through documentation on the features and uses of WebOS. Despite the hardware quickly falling behind, and Palm going under to HP, I still feel that was the best cell phone launch experience to date.

Thunderbolt possible announcement?

does it make sense that they would announce the first 4g phone (htc thunderbolt) during the super bowl? Millions of viewers. Isnt it weird that almost all NFL cities are covered with 4g?

I can see is now!!! available the 14th at verizon and bestbuy!

anyone else thinking the same way?

Ditto! Excellent Points!

I would go even further to say, you will be able to pre-order before 14th.

I dont doubt that you cant preorder at BB on Sunday, I'm also calling Verizon preorder to be taken starting Monday after the commercial.

Now I need to figure out a way to upgrade my phone though I'm not the account owner, even though my line in my name is the one that has the upgrade eligible.

Ya I am getting QUITE impatient.. I have had an upgrade since November and have been patiently waiting for the 4G phones to roll out. I have been on the fence between the thunderbolt and iphone for a while but officially decided on the Thunderbolt a week ago.. I just dont get why on earth they are waiting SO LONG to give us an release date. As much as I am hoping it is Feb 14th why on earth would they wait a week until it comes out to announce it? Makes ZERO sense to me.. Unless it is not coming out until March or April which would also be odd since all the rumors have been on Feb 14th or 24th.. Can they please just get this over with? Otherwise I may just pick up an iphone on the 10th out of spite (I want one anyways, just not as much as the T-Bolt..) Ah well we shall see...

A few reasons...

If you announce a release date too far ahead, people stop buying phones and hold out for the better one. I get that this entire discussion here contradicts that, but we're a surly group of mostly techy people who want the best thing coming out. Most people will just get an iPhone or whatever.

But, that's not the real reason. They want to announce the release date during the Super Bowl, in front of millions of people and generate as much anticipation buzz (from the non-techy people who are not spending most of their time googling strings like "thunderbolt release date" every few hours) and, deliver a one-two punch of iPhone and Android to a huge pool of potential Verizon customers.

I find the waiting game that is going on and peoples reaction to it quite interesting..

The device was actually expected to be shipping in march. Its been pushed up to attempt to cover the demand, listening to blogs/rumors and the like will only drive you crazy as at Verizon we move at our own pace..

Keep the faith.. it will be worth it as this is a great device on a game changing network..

I see that you compared the TB and the Bionic... and yes, the Bionic will obviously be a bit faster and have more storage.

But I'm wondering is the speed and performance difference between the two really that significant?
