Anything Best Buy says is horsesh!t, is that not clear enough? They're the last people you want to ask questions to about release dates. Again, wait for VZ and don't "expect" the 24th either. If you can do that, you won't drive yourself up a wall.

Why do people come to enthusiast websites and then try and curb that enthusiasm?

Yeah, Dirt, we get it. It's just a phone, there is no launch date, nothing has been confirmed, wait for VZW, etc. etc. etc.

Can you contribute something else to the conversation beyond that?

Completely agree that BB is more in the dark than the typical VZW employee, but that's not saying much.

this has been one of the worst product launches I have ever seen.

I wouldn't even call this a product launch. We have absolutely nothing but rumors and wishy washy release dates. I might as well still be waiting for a new blackberry - which is why I switched to wanting an Android in the first place only to be in the same blasted boat. This hurry up and wait stuff is really annoying.

yea with a story like that def made up dummy phones don't come packaged like a retail phone (also no charger or battery and that printed on fake screen) dude was just lookin for attention i'd bet my left nut on that one just sayin....

EDIT: also the claim he's new to android and don't know how to take or upload pics yet it appears he owns a fascinate

They were probably all located in a single location and probably all had the same, bad information. Remember, they're all working off of the same communications as everyone else that works there. But, if your buddy sitting across from you gets a Thunderbolt question, struggles and then gets an answer... if you need help you may ask him... and he will give you the same, wrong answer which you then tell a customer.

I did stop at my local VZW just a little while ago asking if I could get on any kind of list that they'd call me when the phone is for real for sale. He said they aren't going to be taking pre-orders, but he did take my name and number and *said* they'd have someone call me. I'll believe that IF I get a call. Then he proceeded to ask me if I've ever seen a Thunderbolt, I said no (which is the absolute truth other than pics). He said well I have the demo model I can show you ... which he did so now I can say I held a Thunderbolt anyway. So, somewhere on these boards I read a post that mentioned the stores get the demos 2 days before phones go up for sale. Wonder if there's even an iota of truth to that? Oh yeah, and his info is March availability - maybe - and this guy is the store manager.

Don't know why everyone is killing Verizon, they haven't even announced an official launch date for it yet. If they announce a launch date and THEN delay it, we have a right to me mad.

no, its perfectly acceptable to announce a target date and then delay it, stuff happens, and most people understand that.

just got off the phone with mt local best buy, which also said they would have the phone for valentines day. the tone has changes and now they dont know anything and the phone has been push back to late feb to early march. so at this point i am numbed to the idea of this phone and just going with the flow. i will say this though, if htc, verizon and best buy dont get their act together the will probably lose customers. I know rumours arent true but somebody is leaking something some where. if we can see clips of best buy computer screens with pricing and dates as well as fcc screens passing the phone. give me a break

So what did you think of the size/weight? I'm assuming you are a female with your user name...so one gal to another...how was the fit?

Best Buy was taking pre-orders with a release date for the 14th. Amazon and Wirefly had the 14th. It was the 14th. Because Verizon didn't see fit to announce it doesn't change the fact that they communicated an actionable date to it's partners.

Best Buy's press release stated Thunderbolt availability by "Mid-February". Do delays happen? Yes, but no one is saying what the delay was but there clearly was.

Best Buy doesn't out out releases without checking with their Legal team and more than likely with Verizon's legal team.

The fact that Verizon couldn't be bothered to notify people itself about it's target dates is it's own failing. It should have told all it's partners nothing and given BB back it's exclusivity check.. and let this thing come out whenever they felt the need.

Sorry to take a lama dump on the parade but I'm just baffled as to why people are calling Radio shacks and best buy's? You mine as well call Burger King and the local bar down the street too. No need to get bitter with me tho cuz I'm voicing the facts. As far as contributions to the site, that I cannot give. Simply because of what you already stated, "there is no launch date, nothing has been confirmed, wait for VZW, etc. etc. etc."

I want the phone too man, but damn... y'all need to have a beer and relax for a quick second. Just sayn'.
