Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

Figured it was BS. At least its a clever way to poke fun instead of all these other people flipping out over something that has never been made official.

Well that's unfortunate. So even all these leaked screenshots from Verizon employees showing "in stock" and "ETA dates mean nothing now since Verizon won't allow anyone to sell it until the network is ready. These phones could end up sitting in boxes at Verizon stores for a while until whatever issue blackmanx is talking about gets fixed

Darn :S

If this is true, then whoever these 'insiders' are that supposedly know this information need to explain why HTC's CEO PUBLICALLY stated that it was shipping. Their information does not fit whats known.

Agreed. Verizon needs to come out and say why HTC is shipping phones that will sit on shelves.

Probably because the hardware is ready (meaning the phones can be shipped), but the network is NOT ready (so the phones cannot yet be sold or activated).

Just because they have shipments in house doesn't mean they have been given the green light from the network engineers that it can be sold

Shipping the phone is only half the battle. The phone is worthless if the network behind it can't fully support it

i just really hope this is sold on 24th or atleast before month ends i been holding on to my upgrade since dec. 6th and every day i wanna break this POS enV touch more and more

I've been holding onto my storm 1 since Nov 22nd. At this point, I've waited so long, I can't get myself to go back to something that has been out for months already... I'm stuck waiting for the TB.

I do think it's sort of cool...My "Storm" is upgrading to a single "Thunderbolt".

But it was working at the CES2011?????

Same boat... can't jump ship to another provider (which is what I want to do now), refuse to get a 6 MO phone... So I am stuck sitting here waiting on a official release date... VZW better have a nice little insentive for those of us waiting but I dout they really give a rip how long we wait as long as they get the sale.

I really have to say something about people threatening to jump ship and generally going nuts here.

I have been with AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile over the years. I have owned and used cell phones since the early 90's. I'm no Verizon fanboy and we've had our share of crap between us since I've been with them. But, on the other hand, I have the very best cell service I've ever experienced since moving to Verizon, I've experienced more service in more places - just as they promised. I had an iphone on AT&T and the service was garbage. Verizon hasn't been the quickest company to bring out their new phones but when they do, they work - as expected. My iphone was a nice phone that worked like crap on a dysfunctional network. Nice phone, useless service.

I just posted the following statement in another thread in here. What good is a great phone on a sh$t network. I'm just as anxious as everyone else but at least when this phone does come out I am confident that it will work as expected on a network that is ready for it. You can't say that about AT&T!

I agree with the jumping carriers statement above. I'm currently on AT&T with a iPhone 4; while I love the phone I hate the network. I decided once the vz iPhone was announced I would move to vz, but then read about the thunderbolt and can't wait to give htc anf android a try for the first time. Go ahead and get the atrix on AT&T instead, it doesn't matter if it's 4G you won't ever get a 4g or a 3G signal for the matter on their network that's reliable. I'm in SF and edge only works when it wants to.

It's been working in several videos on YouTube as well. In fact, a video posted in another thread here shows a guy even testing LTE speeds on the TB itself

But blackmanx hinted that Verizon's engineers are having some issue behind the scenes. Based on these videos we've seen recently it's obviously not a big enough problem to completely kill the device off the network, but it's significant enough to possibly delay the TB's release until the engineers give it a green light

Let's not forget that Verizon just fixed a HUGE LTE handoff bug too (within the last 2 weeks)... So there are still bugs Verizon is apparently trying to squash before launch

From great experience, I feel your pain on being with AT&T. It was the worst cellphone service I have ever had. Sprint service was adequate and generally reliable but lacking in some areas. T-Mobile had phenomenal customer service but in my area data is 1x. I hesitated going with Verizon because they were the most expensive of any other service but I gotta tell you, in my experience, they're earning that money with the quality and coverage they provide. Customer Service and I have had a few go rounds but I've always managed to get someone on the line who fixed the problem.

I'm not going to even think about jumping ship over a one week difference in a phone release.

Since everyone seems to be putting in their $.02 on when the Tbolt is going to be released I'll put in mine also. I'm not counting on the 24th, although I wish that it happens that early. I'm putting my money on the 28th, the following Monday. But we'll all know when we all know.

That's BS. The network can support it because the chipset it uses has already been deployed in the data cards. There is no legitimate reason for it to be held back that has to do with either the network or the phone.

If it doesnt launch on the 24th, this doesnt mean its delayed. The date of the 24th thats "confirmed" as thread states is not confirmed until Vzn releases states it. This thread should never have stated "confirmed" and should have stated "rumored"

I was at a VZW store today upgrading my Mom's phone... Since I was there, I also inquired about upgrading my line too... Gave him my list of Must Have's and Preferences and he said he had a phone coming out by the end of the month, the TB, that would suit all my needs. What was most exciting to me was that he had the dummy TB that he brought out and let me handle. It is a nice looking phone! :) He took my name/number and said they would call me when they had the official details on the release.

I also was at a BB store and stopped in the cellular dept and inquired on the TB. The rep said last he heard it should be out within the next 1 to 2 weeks. He did add that he didn't know what was taking so long as they were originally told the 14th.... to which I said, well technically I understand that it wasn't suppose to come out til mid-March so even another 1-2 weeks is still earlier than their original plans.

At any rate... I know this is not new information at all... just thought I would share. I do have to say though, the TB is much larger than I was thinking it would be. I should have realized that by the 4.3 screen size, but didn't connect the dots. It is also much thicker (almost the same thickness as my LG EnV Touch). I will be honest, I was hoping for something alittle smaller and thinner.... I will just have to head back to the store when it is released so I can actually play with it and be impressed by it's brillance! :D

I agree with your argument and your frustration... All I'm doing is reporting what blackmanx tweeted. He said the phone is "supposed" to drop on the 24th, but that it may be pushed back (also hinting it's because of some undisclosed network issue)

Don't hate the messenger ;)

Oh sorry, it wasn't directed at you, it was directed at him. What I see is a lot of nonsense that does not fit with anything we know. HTC has already said the phone is ready and will be shipped. We know the hardware works fine with the network because the chipset is already being used. There are NO reasons that any of these supposed insiders have given that fit with the reality of the situation.

And another thing; if this is true, why have none of the legitimate tech sites reported this? Engadget and Gizmodo have posted none of this. If it was true, they would have. Here's why: they already have the phone to review and know when its going to be released. They know that none of this blathering by supposed 'insiders' is true.
