I've given this a lot of thought over the past week. I think it IS to keep up dangling. If they keep "leaking" dates through BB or whomever, then we wait. You see it in these threads all of the time "it's only another 4 days" "It's only another week" If they came out and said March 31, then people would jump ship. I think they are stringing us along 4-7 days at a time so we DON'T jump ship.

i had the same thought. VZW probably had some trouble with the TB's skype, 4g card, or battery like it's been rumored and don't know exactly when it'll be out. so we get these weekly rumors to satisfy us for the time being

I saw in another forum that you can add the thunderbolt to your cart at the HTC sites Online store for $699. Well I decided to try and found some disturbing things. first I didn't see the TB on the site at all not in news, online store or doing a search for it. Does this mean they canceled it? I'm still hoping its soon! storm1 is dieing fast. worried i called htc store and advised them i couldnt find it they said they wont put on store till verizon sets release date. So Verizon controls what even big companies do LOL I then went to the htc site that wasnt the shop htc .com and at least found the thunderbolt in products. the sales rep said that if I ever have problems finding a phone on their site to check phone scoop they use that site to also list phones. OH and tried to get a release date but all he would say was well the rumored dates March 3-4 are not that far away to keep checking back everyday. oh well the wait continues maybe the bionic will come out first!

2/28/11 is officially gone. This phone is going through some major issues mainly battery and skype. It's sucks that we have to wait, but i'd rather get a good phone then have a dud at launch. Stayed tuned for more.
Oh and the string us along, well maybe all of waiting to use an upgrade who are out of contract should all walk in to a verizon store on the same day at opening and tell the reps we are canceling our contracts if we get a long enough line of people and they see there bottom $$$ will be affected they might just pull their head out of their A$$ and either give us a release date or tell us its been delayed for an fixable issue. people will jump ship if strung along too long.
Everyone should just expect march 31st, thats the end of q1 and they said it would be out at the end of q1, anything before is a gift from verizon but i would be pissed if i only got 2 to 3 hrs of battery life on it and be even more pissed if i had to restart my phone everytime i got from 4g to 3g. I dont really care about skype, so lets all be patient lets keep each other company in the forums but just to tell you all that are thinking of going from the thunderbolt to the bionic its really isnt worth it, motoblur sucks, android isnt optimized for dual core yet so who cares about that, i got hands on with both the thunderbolt and the bionic at CES nothing but problems with the bionic. i had trouble getting past the lockscreen on the bionic. so its up to you but thats what i saw at CES. thunderbolt worked fine too let you know
If you pre ordered at BB and they give you a gift card you cant get your money back so they dont care they have your money and that is it.
They CAN give it back. It's just a matter of how your store is. Mine offered to do a cash refund for it when I went in on the 14th and they directed me towards the Ad Correction Notice, but I told them I'd stick it out.
This is getting ridiculous. I called and complained a few days ago about this whole Thunderbolt thing to Verizon with all the stuff Best Buy is saying and pre-ordering their phone and so on. They told me then that they had no release date for the phone and their computer would say it if it was in the next 2 weeks. Today a manager called me back and we talked for almost 30 minutes and he said the reason the Thunderbolt is not out is because of radio problems with the phone switching from 4G to 3G and a few other issues that he did not specify. He did say at this point the phone is not coming anytime soon. He said that they have no dates but to be honest, he said from what he heard that we would be lucky to have it by May. He said that is why the adds are being pulled from the internet and TV and that bestbuy has been instructed to quit advertising the phone but they cannot make them do anything so they might just keep running the adds to keep people's hopes up. At this point I have all but gave up on this phone. I think its time to start thinking about another phone or another carrier all together. So, the guy was certain about all this information. I know its just more speculation to add to the pile but I honestly believe him after all the other crap that's been going on and the dates keep going back and now the adds are disappearing. So I think I am going to start looking at different carriers myself because even when the Thunderbolt does come out, I hardly believe it will be working correctly.

Would you guys want a phone that has a battery lasting 2-4 hours if it meant you would have it today?
Best Buy should have held off on advertising the device and been clearer on the ETA when they took everybody's money to place preorders. That's where the problem lays. Taking preorders without a concrete date for a release.

We have all been expecting this phone too much to throw in the towel. I know a lot of people are waiting on upgrades or switching carriers for this and believe me, I was in the same boat. Based on the fact that they're making a new firmware to fix the battery problems and, probably, radio issues, I'd say it'll be about 3 weeks til this phone ships anywhere. That's a conservative guess, and with testing and all that, could be longer. So, I guess my point is that the "soft launch" we semi-expected is not going to happen, they know people want this phone. But considering all the problems it's endured, they want to have a 100% working, kick-ass phone as their first LTE-capable smartphone

I was told by a VZW Rep today that the 28th was the date when I went in to pick up a case for my Zoom and adjust some account stuff. Now normally, I wouldn't believe a word they said, but she was a super cute Asian girl named Susan so I'm inclined to believe her based on attractiveness alone.

so, less than 2 days from now, nothing from verizon yet, 1 day announcment for a flagship first 4g phone. look past the cute girl, an you will find the thunderbolt a couple weeks later lol
Yeah you might want to tell that cute little Asian girl to check her Verizon email. I'd be completely shocked if they announced the release tomorrow and it came out Monday.
You are lucky one my store told me no cash refunds. You can use the card to buy some thing else.
This store is in NYC Bway &62st. They never told me about Ad correction Notice.:'(Honestly, yes, because I know they would fix it quickly. In day-to-day usage, I would be able to manage the battery.
Plus, the sooner the phone gets out into the wild, the sooner the ROM community will have superior builds to what HTC could muster anyway. If HTC can't fix this phone, the modding community will.
Just got off work. I was able to put the sku of the TB on a register to see it's full price. WOW! Full retail was 750. But after tax, it ended up being over $800!!!!
