Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

went to the Verizon store to check out phones, expected to have to beg to see a TB dummy. Nope, they had 2 out prominently on display, didn't even have to ask. If this phone is still a few weeks away, you would think they wouldn't tease people so much...

My daughter came out of her room yelling for me this morning. I thought the roof was caving in. She had been on the phone with verizon because her phone was messing up. She was yelling to tell me the rep had told her the TB would be out next week. (She knows how much i want this phone)
I told her it wasn't true, but thanks for asking about it.
Later, while in town (I live in the sticks) I stopped by to play with a XOOM tablet since my laptop is fried. The rep had already pulled my account up while i was playing around with the XOOM (i am a regular customer ie. phone junkie). She said that i had 2 upgrades coming. I told her i was holding them for the Thunderbolt.
Her Manager stepped up and said "We'll be selling it Monday". I said "This coming Monday?". He said "yes". I questioned them about it being pushed back. The said that they had finally gotten the confirmation for Monday. I work next door to the store. The rep said she would be there early Monday because she had to open. I told her i would probably stop by. When i got in my car, she came out and told me her manager said she could have it set up and bring it over to me at work. She asked which line to add it to and i told her i just want it on a one year contract. She said she would see me about 9 o'clock monday morning.
Now i know this is just another rumour to add to the pile. I am still not betting on seeing it next week. Flame me if you wish. But this was a VZW corp. store. And i didn't even ask when it would be available. Just that i was holding upgrades for the phone. I don't think the rep would give me false information intentionally as i buy ALOT of phones and she knows i would find someone else to deal with if she was lying. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean they weren't misinformed.

I was told by a VZW Rep today that the 28th was the date when I went in to pick up a case for my Zoom and adjust some account stuff. Now normally, I wouldn't believe a word they said, but she was a super cute Asian girl named Susan so I'm inclined to believe her based on attractiveness alone.

I see right through you....you have set yourself up to go in on Monday to check with Susan to "see if the TB is there", then when it's not, you can go see her again on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, etc, etc....

Sorry, not mean to offend you. If your experience and conversation with the store manager is true, then there is very high possibility that the phone will come out on Monday.

I will trust the VZW's store manager more than the BB's.

2/28/11 is officially gone. This phone is going through some major issues mainly battery and skype. It's sucks that we have to wait, but i'd rather get a good phone then have a dud at launch. Stayed tuned for more.

welp i know its really no help but im praying that it will be coming out soon. and i cant believe that they keep advertising it without a release date. if i didnt watch this phone so closely i would see this ad tomorrow and go to the store and expect to buy it. oh well

Nice of BB to keep the torch burning for a product they do not have in stock, no control of when they will get it in stock and raised the price in the 14 days since it was supposed to be in stock. I have to run errands on Sunday so I will have to stop into the VZW corp and BB (where my pre-order is) and play quiz the monkey . . . again.

Last week on quiz the monkey the Verizon rep told me "we will get the TB when our market gets 4G". No joke. I did explain that it can switch between 3G and 4G and that we are not getting 4G until EOY. VZW is a client of mine and I work with their people. I guess this is why she was a greeter and not a closer.

I hear ya. I just dropped my OG Droid in the sink tonight, and although it turns on/off just fine, (so far) it will not recognize any sort of touch on the screen or home/menu/etc. buttons. I have it in a bowl of rice as we speak, and I hope the normal functionality will return. I ripped off my OtterBox and screen protector as fast as I could as I scurried to find a bag of rice in the cupboards.

Now the question may be how many days/weeks/months I will be without a phone ... or how many days/weeks I can wait before I collapse and buy the best phone already on the market. *Sigh*

Damn, I've dropped phones in water before and it's never fun. Hopefully the rice will help, it's helped me in all but one situation (which was when I dropped my phone into the ocean).

so, less than 2 days from now, nothing from verizon yet, 1 day announcment for a flagship first 4g phone. look past the cute girl, an you will find the thunderbolt a couple weeks later lol

Or maybe after getting, shall we say, "familiar" with Apple, Verizon wants to emulate their tactic of putting products on sale without first giving a release date. Apple did this most recently with the new Sandy Bridge MBP, which has a feature called "Thunderbolt". Coincidence?!?!










...yeah, pretty much, but still entertaining.
