It won't. But through no fault of its own.
The real competition for the Thunderbolt will be iPhone 5, and the Bolt, unfortunately, isn't going to fare all that well. (look at the new iPad for what the new iPhone's specs are going to be) If the rumored 4 inch iPhone screen is true, its going to be an even tougher fight for the Bolt.
That being said, I wouldn't choose the iPhone over the Bolt. I've got enough Apple products that I don't need an iPhone anymore haha.
So besides the htc commercials has anyone seen the verizon thunderbolts commercials lately or have they pulled them... I haven't seen them in like 2 weeks
Found this interesting. Acutally confirms what I figured all along. The leaked release dates are being done from within VZW just to have fun with us waiting for the phone. I'm kind of sadistic so I find this very funny.

Thunderbolt ads are still popping up on websites. I was on BGR.com just this morning and was not disappointed.
That site doesn't hold any more water than the 1,000 other rumor/leak sites out there.
The article starts out like this, how could anyone that has been on the boards give this a second thought whatsoever:
"Apparently some guy known as JR has spoken to a friend of the family that works at corporate at Verizon, yep it?s a kind of he said she said kind of rumour here."
I hope this is a mistake...

So I am rebooting my Storm 1 and reading this stuff. It puts me in a mood.
What if we took our collective whining to the FTC? I mean the ads for the TB are all over the internet and on TV and BB has a lot of money tied up in this thing. Is VZW really going to keep this charade going till - June?! Talk about false advertising.
My bottom line is - no release till summer - fine! Pull the ads, refund our money, make an announcement and be done with it. We close this forum, and move on to expecting the next "real" latest and greatest.
Gonna release? then do it, good bad and ugly - just like this Storm 1 biodegrading in my hand. It's buggier than the Libyan CIA office. We're big kids, we can handle it. Besides, it's android - we can probably make it better without big red.
I just figure it's VZW trying to lock down everything. Which, of course, is impossible.

1. HTC needs "big red" more than the other way around. If they can make the best Android powered phones, then that opens them up to quite a few of the 91.2 million VZN subscribers. Especially as they are the largest in the US.
2. If they weren't going to release the phone until summer, they would have pulled the advertising for it already. They do not owe you any kind of excuse as they said a Q1 2011 release. It's still Q1. The FTC would tell you to go away.
3. So what if they do lock down everything- given that the Storm is biodegrading in your hands, you will likely wait it out anyways. I would- you couldn't pay me to buy a SHAMSung.

Hell, I've got an Inspire. I'm stuck in AT&T land for a while thanks to a healthier corporate discount and better reception at home. I'm just hoping they release this phone so my buddy can grab it. It's painful to watch him deal with his hiccuping OG Droid. I'm just here cheering things on, but yeah- I'm with ya. I can say this- given that the Inspire is 9/10's Thunderbolt, IT'S WELL WORTH THE WAIT. I'm trying to remember my last phone. . . oh yes, that's right, it was an iPhone 4. It did have the wifi's. On a funny note- when I went in to inform AT&T that I sold my iPhone 4 they (1. began to sweat, thinking I was dropping them for Verizon) and then when I informed them I wanted to buy an Inspire, the 5 people standing by the iPhone display leaned a little closer to hear why I sold the iPhone 4. I mean, they could have fallen over with a gentle tap. I loved my iPhone 4 and I think the ecosystem is easy to use and navigate. That said, the Inspire and updated Sense UI are truly special.
Launch the phone tomorrow with no formal announcement, pricing, or anything like that?
