froyo roms have bugs..every one..i have tried them all. Be prepared to constantly mess with your phone if you load a froyo rom.
Really which ones have you tried? Sound like not all of them. The newest Skyraider has 0 bugs that I have experienced. In fact I'm not enjoying full streaming flash shows and movies from hulu, abc etc. Camera works and has 720p recording with a light! The phone scores about 2-3 times higher on benchmark scores. I have copy/paste inside of gmail, chrome to phone, and the list goes on......yeah I would stay away FAR FAR away from the Froyo ROMs obviously they aren't for you. /sarcasm
Sorry but I have to agree with Yomonk and Tony on this. There are a lot of people that want to root for this reason alone. I personally would wait for the official update myself. I want Froyo as much as anyone else does. I agree with Yomonk on this. I to want it bad and hate the fact that all these other phones are getting it and the DINC owners are still waiting. I waited a month and a half for my DINC and you would think that after all of us had to wait to get these phones they would throw us a bone and get froyo out to all of us. Its just disapointing thats all. I have nothing against the people rooting there phones or recommending other people to do it, its just my personal feeling on it is to wait for the official update.
All what other phones? The Nexus One and rumors of a Droid roll out that I have yet to see. However I know rooted users on the EVO, Incredible, X etc that all are happily running Froyo
I really hope it drops but Verizon is so stupid with their OS updates for all devices not just Android. They were slow when I was using a BlackBerry also.
Verizon has to make sure it doesn't effect a network with a couple million people on it. It's not that they are slow it's that they are methodical. At least that's what I like to tell myself

All joking aside, Verizon has always been slow, but yet another reason to make your phone YOURS! Especially considering a one button root now, flashing takes minutes and all the gains you get from doing it. Open it up!
the 8/1 leak with the latest radio is pretty much bug free. It's a little heavy on battery use compared to previous roms, but i'm still able to get to about 26 hours between charges.
The 8/1/2010 Leaked OTA isn't a ROM. It's a patched radio. All it does is enable 720p recording and some other small changes. Battery life has been far superior to any other radio up to that point.
On every single one? How many bugs did you have before you started flashing? I found a few that were buggy before the leaked froyo was released but since then I have been using the Skyraider 2.2 and the only thing I had issues with was audio streaming. I can live with that for now. Once I get my speaker problem fixed and I reroot I will surly be going back to that one.
I agree completely with this, I've been using Skyraider 2.2 for about the last two weeks and have yet to have an issue with it. Paired up with the 8/1 leak radio I'm seeing a faster phone, better battery life and everything else I had with 2.1 working and then some. In my personal and professional life I wouldn't think twice about telling people to do it, albeit be careful doing it, but do it. At the finish line though this is something that isn't for everyone. So they choose to wait. They either know or feel they don't have the technical "prowess" to pull off such a 'risky' thing with their phone. Or they are worried about the warranty on their phones etc. All of which I might add are good things to worry about.....until you realize how hard it is to actually brick a phone with ROMs(Radio's are another story), and that rooting is reversible when/if the time comes for you to send you phone in for any reason.
I feel like a hippie from the 60/70's. I'm a Android Child. ROMs and Radios MAAAAAAAaaaannnn. Why is the Verizon always holding us down, we need to do a sit in, in their tech department and demand our OTA's MAAAAaaaannn. Hurry up pass the adb and usb cable I think I see the cops coming.......
