Trade In Thread

Did anyone send a trade-in to Coppell facility and got approval without calling CS?

Mine went to TX but as I said earlier I had to call CS and tell them to review. I was surprised when they say the complete inspection is filmed . Good thing for me.

Thinking about the $155 plus tax they wanted, while I still had the phone insured with Samsung Care.

Well this morning I got the dreaded text/email saying there was a $155 charge back for the trade in.

Messaged with chat who spoke to the team and they cancelled the charge back. I just got an email stating as such.

Guess the default this year is to charge and see who just ignores and doesn't challenge it?

I got an email stating they received an empty box. I was like oh hell no! I immediately called them and they reversed the claim and then waited until they sent me the no chargeback email. First time it's ever happened but I saw red instantly lol.

Ah, that time of year.... trade-in time where seems like an a lot of people have to deal with Samsung throwing back their trades at them telling them there is a crack or flaw in their trade-in phones and give them nothing. The reason so many have learned to take pics and videos of their phones before they box them up and send them off.

Been following the forums since the Note 8 and every year Samsung doesn't disappoint.

They did that to me as well with the S21U. Sounds like a scam where they're hoping people will just take their word for it and take the hit on trade in value.

That was me yesterday morning. I was pretty damn pissed.

I'm sending my trade in on Friday, just in case I get the dreaded cracked screen email, how did you all get in contact with Samsung?

I did chat. It's bad enough dealing with crappy customer service thru chat, if I was talking to them I'd probably say something I shouldn't.

I also used chat, and figured that would be my first attempt , if I had no luck I would make a call
but the agent I had was wonderful and he had them review the "Video of the inspection" The video showed
the trade in was perfect and had the charge back reversed . I really expected it to go the wrong way.

I wonder what's up with this happening to so many people. I get it if the screen is scratched up when the device is sent in and Samsung claims it's cracked. That's an argument about the degree of the wear and tear, not whether the defect or any defect exists to begin with. And if they're truly videotaping the devices coming out of the return boxes one would think they'd be wary of claiming damage where none exists. I just don't get it. But, suffice it to say, I'll be taking extensive video of my pristine Z Flip 4 as I reset it, box it up and drop it off at FedEx.

Funny we all still use the term "video tape" If you were to video your prep and packing of your return I would hope it would be one recording with out any pauses .

i don't know why or how this all is happening so fast this time around, I got my dreaded email from Sammy just 4 hours after the email came saying they received my return and please allow 3 to 7 days for it to be checked out , Heck that was hours not days LOL

If scratched screens are a issue then Samsung should say no scratches screen. Scratched and cracked are 2 different things. I did think there might be a issue that's why I sent the trade in phone in right away this time so I had time to get old phone back and return the new phone. I never return the trade in so fast.

These were surface scratched, you know the women that like to throw their phones in the purse.

My return said crack on the screen or case . of course there was neither.

I looked over my phone several times before putting back into the original S22U box and wrapping it back with the same shipping wrap that came with the S23U

I checked it over and over to make sure there wasn't a hair from my dog was has been sheding lately

It's like Samsung had a meeting with their staff before S23 line went live and said let's tell everyone their trade-ins were damaged and see who fights back. Just crazy!!

Well, as expected, today I received the same "cracked screen" email for my S22U in perfect condition.
I didn't want to chat with them and called right away. The agent was very polite, reviewed the "unboxing video tape" and confirmed there is no crack anywhere on the phone. The charge back got reversed.

I decided to go further and requested a call to the upper management.
The manager, again, was very polite. I described to him all situation with that trade-in facility and mentioned this forum. We had a long conversation and he created a report to the upper management to investigate the situation.
I also complained about low trade-in values this year for unlocked devices. Hopefully the Samsung management will get a message.

Maybe there is a disgruntled worker there just saying they are all cracked!
