Trade In Thread

I sent my 22U back on the 14th. It was delivered on the 17th.
I got a email this morning saying it did not meet the standards of the trade-in since it had a cracked screen or body and they would lower the trade-in value to $125 or they could send it back.

Needless to say this phone left here in perfect shape. I was hardly used since I found it was too big for my daily work so it sat in a desk drawer for most of its life.

So - I called support and they put me on hold while the rep talked to the technician that checked the phone out. While I was on hold I got another email saying the trade-in was complete and everything was OK. When the rep came back on line he said everything is OK and the trade-in was accepted?

Not sure I will ever do another trade-in with Samsung. Price and hassle not worth it.

Wow that's what scares me. We used to do Best Buy for trade in but then Samsung was better and with the accessory credit. I've hard stories of where they try to do that to people. They tried sending me a picture of my Active 2 watch and said I sent in a different watch and I had pictures. They finally accepted me.

I'm going to start this post out with a little disclaimer. I usually suggest to people to wait to send their trade in to Samsung. I sent mine in right away, which is unusual for me. Reason is my S22U had scratch on the screen, not cracked, just a surface scratch. I thought might be a issue with it and wanted time to be able to get the trade in phone sent back and was within the return window to return the new phone.

I received the email today that they rejected the trade in phone and was going to charge me $155 since the screen was cracked. I immediately started a chat and informed them I have pictures, the screen is not cracked. There are a couple surface scratches but scratches are not listed as a condition not acceptable. I told them that I wanted to discuss this before I hit the button to send back the trade in and I start the return process for the new phone. Within 10 minutes I had a email saying there will be no charge back the situation was resolved.

So..I still say wait to send in your trade INS, UNLESS you think they might have a issue with your trade in. If you think there could be a issue with the trade in then I would send in right away so you have options to return the new phone. I had a feeling they might squawk about the scratches, I wanted options if they did. If your trade in phones are in perfect shape as mine usually are then I would still wait to send them in.

Knock on wood I've never had this issue (hope I didn't jinx myself). However I always video the phone before sending it back showing that it was in perfect working order as well as packing it up.

I did the ATT upgrade deal for $1000 credit on a S23 and I hate it when they make you send in your phone via the US Postal mail. My wife upgraded her iPhone last year and they lost her trade in phone. It's been a hassle trying to sort out the issue. This time for my trade in, I'm trying to drop my phone off at the local ATT store to get a receipt and avoid that potential hassle.

Nightmare scenario this morning. Got the same cracked screen email. I immediately got on the e-commerce chat, told them I had pictures and that my S22 Ultra was in pristine condition. Fortunately the CS agent helped me out and I got the full $500 trade-in credit, but it was pretty frustrating to go through all of that.

Wow I'm worried now but I have pictures and video too!

I got the cracked screen email yesterday afternoon and customer service took care of it.

Last night I received the we got your trade in we'll evaluate your phone and let you know in 5 to 7 days email. Did you get this email later also?
.

I checked my order page and it shows the trade in was accepted manually.

Yes, got the same email again later in the afternoon that they received my trade-in...again. Like you, I went to check and saw on my Shop Samsung app that the trade-in still showed manually approved, thank goodness. Not sure if the new location of them being sent to Coppell, Texas has anything to do with it, but people need to be prepared to contact CS.

Oh man. Well at least I have proof if they ask for it.

Got my email and text saying my trade in arrived then 4 hours later they said it failed because there was a crack on the screen or case
and they were charging me an extra $155 plus tax. My S22U was perfect not even a scratch on it anywhere

Seems like hours ago that I posted about Samsung claiming my trade-in had a crack in the screen or case

I contacted Support and asked them to re check , I was told they are all video taped and give them a little time to find it and they will review it.

They got back to me and said " NO CRACKS OR MARKS ANYWHERE " they were not sure why it was mark for rejection but it has now been cleared up.

So those hours I thought was really just 1 to corrrect . Not bad Samsung this time.

They did that to me as well with the S21U. Sounds like a scam where they're hoping people will just take their word for it and take the hit on trade in value.

Well this morning I got the dreaded text/email saying there was a $155 charge back for the trade in.

Messaged with chat who spoke to the team and they cancelled the charge back. I just got an email stating as such.

Guess the default this year is to charge and see who just ignores and doesn't challenge it?

Glad you received your full trade in value, but disappointing on Samsung's end that you have to go through this.

:(

Same exact thing happened to me yesterday morning.

Mine arrived yesterday and this morning I got the email that it was completed and approved. I can stop stressing about getting the rejection message and have to prove I sent a good device in .

There's always challenges for us trading in. When I traded my note 20 I had to argue that it was perfect when I sent it in.
