Unlimited Data is back

What about those still on contract... Do you have to pay a $20 or whatever premium per line on contract?

What about non smartphone devices like tablets and hotspots?

I'm sure it will still apply--assuming they let those with contracts switch to this plan--but I'm waiting for a chat rep right now to see how pricing would look for me.

I have 3 grandfathered UDP lines and 1 tiered line. I'd like to know if I can upgrade the tiered line to the new UDP? As an option, I wonder if they would let me out of contract to sign up under this new plan. I usually hover around 20 gigs per month.

I'm guessing this is a typo, but does anyone know if Verizon made changes to grandfathered UDPs along with this change? When I visit the Switch to New Verizon Plan page, the compare screen lists included features not previously provided with this line. Is unlimited talk/text, mobile hotspot, and Mexico calling now included with the grandfathered UDPs? See the screenshot I just took...

Also talked to them about this. Tablets are now $20 month and has the same unlimited rules as the phones, after 22 GB, you may be slowed down.

On the Hotspot from your phone, you get 10 GB per line of 4G speed, after the 10 you drop to 3G speed. Did not clarify if after 22 GB you may get slowed down, but imagine you will be. Also, Hotspot does not count towards the data you use for the phone. The phone data and Hotspot data are separate, if that makes sense.

Doing some simple math. Seems like if I switch from Sprint to Verizon, my bill would go up by about $8, which for improved coverage would be nice. Sprint works where I live and work, but I have had issues when I have had to travel for work.

Though hopefully this is a permanent change for Verizon as if I decide to switch, I wouldn't want to make the switch right now. Don't want to switch from an S7 to another S7 with the S8 right around the corner.

It is still so weird that if you have 1smart+2 basic phones ($131 now) my price is $190. They never want to get me off UDP till I'm forced to get off it.

I can't imagine living in an area with limited connectivity. Cellular coverage is mediocre for gaming so I'd be fairly annoyed to say the least. In your case, I wouldn't switch either. This new plan is great for many but bad for others.

LOL. There are benefits to living where I do. It is one of the most beautiful places. I have been using Verizon as internet since they first introduced the USB modems - 2009 I think? Before that dial-up but no one expected faster than that anyway back then.

Seems to be -- the plans all changed with Unlimited being at the top.

How do you get this plan comparison on the VZW site?

Nice to see there are new options! For me the line charges going from $15 to $20 (x4), loss of 17% discount and ipad going from $10 to $20 month make this not very attractive. I can see how this would be great for some.

Re: New Verizon Unlimited Plan

That's similar to what my dad was paying albeit for 2 smartphones (LG G3 and a Galaxy S5), a flip phone and a tablet (Verizon Ellipsis) but with only 1 gig.

I went through their site, chose two devices (my wife and I) and went all the way to checkout hoping we'd be paying the same, if not less than we do on T-Mobile. T-Mobile is fantastic where we live so there's no need to switch, but I was curious, and as you can see below, the prices seem incredibly high.

Even if I remove $22 of insurance and $6 off in difference of what we pay per month on an installment plan, it's still far more expensive than T-Mobile. For only Two devices!!

Don't know why all the screenshots aren't showing, but the plan looks like this:

Account Access (Plan) - $110
LG V20 - $28/mo
Insurance - $11
Line access - $20
iPhone 6s (128g) - $27/mo
Insurance - $11
Line access - $20

Total $227/mo

Yeah it may not work for all -- but it is nice Verizon joined the unlimited crowd again so people have options.

The 22 gig until throttle is that per line or as the family hits 22 gigs together
