Update: ROM update (not Froyo) available now!

Wow, what an underwhelming list of fixes. Glad to see that they are working on stuff but these aren't high on my priority list. I'd take voice quality and gps over most of these.

Yes unless you hold off for a pre rooted version

Will this update fix the signal issue? Mine bounces around from 3G to 1X all the time no matter where I go. And I usually have good service around my house.

Awesome, can't wait to get this loaded in and see if it helps the lag that I have.

Any and all improvements are most welcome as we wait for the release of 2.2 - Although I would have liked to see LED Notification added vs. having to use aftermarket apps

You know, after coming from a Blackberry it's kind of nice to not have that blinking light! I was so OCD over that little red light I would see it blink even when it was not!!!! LOL :)

If LED notification is something that is important/critical to you or your work, I highly suggest returning this phone. There is no LED. This is not a software issue, the LED does not physically exist.

I know some people who live and die by that flashing light, so if that's you, consider an exchange.

Quick Question...

I apologize if this has been asked before...however, I have rooted and applied lag fix. I haven't gone through yet and renamed or moved any of the bloatware. My question is this....when this update rolls out on the 22nd, will my phone receive it or will I have to unroot and go back to stock in order to download it.

If I will receive the update without having to unroot, will I have to root the phone over again and move bloatware again?.

Once again...I apologize if my questions have been asked prior.

Thanks in advance for your help

Thanks for your thought, but I'm not changing the phone.
All I am stating is that it would be nice to have a way similar to most every other smartphone available (LED or other?)to know if you have a message/email or voicemail waiting without always turning on the phone.

I don't think anyone would disagree with you, my friend. :) The only option at this point is the NoLED app or setting the phone to vibrate/audible alert.

Not having an LED light is a stupid 5 cent omission that I'll never understand. This update looks pretty minor, but bug fixes will always be welcome. I'm sincerely hoping we aren't looking at an October-November time frame for the Froyo update though...

*1000 I was the same way...my warped mind still sees' that blinking light on the fascinate (twilight zone theme plays.) ;)

Honestly, I can't wait to not have an LED. That light would start blinking on my BB, and the only way I could ignore it is if I flipped the phone over or put it in a draw. Otherwise, I had an unnatural urge to see what it was blinking over (and half the time was just spam)

That is too funny! :D
I am so glad this device does not have that!!! I can honestly say that I thought I saw my SF blink also. But we all know thats not true. ;)

Anyone have any thoughts or info on whether this update includes a GPS fix? Samsung has officially said that the update coming to Captivate should fix GPS issues. Have they said anything about the fascinate? This continues to bug me. Picked up my wife's D1 today and turned on maps - got an immediate fix inside the house to withing 10 m. Meanwhile I was standing in the parking lot last night rebooting my phone to get it to locate me so I could start my navigation...

Judging from the last post in the linked andriod central thread in the OP the froyo update looks to be mid-November at best.

According to that same post the GPS fix will be in a 2.1 update mid-October. I think the Fascinate already has some of the Captivate issues fixed. In the GPS fix threads there are some settings that were changed to help the Captivate (and Vibrant) GPS but the Fascinate already has those settings.
