UPDATE THE LINK IS LIVE 6/20 *** Sprint Premier Customers Can Buy Evo 3D NOW !!!

it drives me INSANE.. specially since I got the pre minus... I mean, I usually get a phone, find out that its junk after the first 6 months, and want something better, but then I got the Pre Minus, Dad switched himself to the main number, and I got stuck with this pile of crap... Don't get me wrong, the Pre is an amazing phone, its just there isn't any REAL apps that are WORTH buying/downloading! Sure there are some, but they are few and far between... Plus the support for the phone is the worst I've ever came across, not to mention the sheer fact of it being, what, going on 3 years old now or something like that?? Its so slow that I can barely have more than TWO "Cards" open before it craps out saying "too many cards opens" and it randomly shuts itself off too!!! And it isn't just MY phone either.. I've had to have it replaced 4 times so far, and each phone does the same shutting off, and i haven't installed any homebrew apps or anything, just pure WebOS... Drives Me Nuts!

Which is why I simply could not WAIT to get a new phone, and when I saw the Evo 3D, I literally knocked my chair over jumping for joy! My lil brother has the Evo 4G and he thinks its the best phone he's ever had, doesn't even WANT to switch for the new Evo 3D! Says it does everything he wants, and even stuff that he doesn't, but knows he would eventually. He simply loves it so much, that I figured the Evo 3D would be one amazing phone to have. Plus, it does some awesome things on its own that is simply "Evolutionary!" XD I doubt that I'll actually want to get rid of this phone once I get it.
dude, the pre's 2nd year anniversary was yesterday. also, uberkernel is your friend. it kept me from going insane w/ webOS.

and do that many ppl buy a phone every year? seems insane to me. I'd keep my Pre actually, but it's begining to fall apart. I need it in good shape so i can use it as a backup, heh

YES ... That many people buy a new phone every year ... With Sprints premier program ... To upgrade to a new more powerful phone every year with the insane buy back and other incentive programs is a no brainer ... It will cost me no more than $50 for the Evo 3D upgrade from Evo and through Sprint I can just put that on my Sprint account.

having homebrew apps and what not on my Pre where I live automatically makes it so if something were to happen to my phone, it wont be covered under their Total Equipment Protection Program... So if something where to happen to it, I couldn't get it fixed. granted i could just erase the apps before hand, or if the phone is a total loss they'll just give me a new one and never know, but i dont like to take chances with somehow them knowing.. and with my cousin working as their manager, he would know anyway cause we hang out alot.. but if he were to "allow" me to have my phone repaired when fully knowing i have those apps, could cost him his job.

As for the other few posts XD
Yea, alot of people from Sprint upgrade every year, its probably one of the aspects from them that have kept them alive still.. although only just one small aspect anyway lol.

If i still had my every year upgrade, I'd probably still be doing it, cause after 6 months of having a phone, it starts giving me nothing but problems, and annoys the heck out of me so i just get a new one.

Well from what i've been seeing around on another forum... Radio Shack is doing Activation Fees for around 40 freaking dollars, and a few other places are around 20ish...

Now, my question is, whether or not Radio Shack will just simply allow me to BUY the freaking phone without activating it so that i can just walk 200 short feet over to the sprint store, and get it activated for FREE...

I am still debating on whether to purchase the phone on the 21st or stick with my Radio Shack preorder... I am away on business until the 24th so I probably will wait until that Friday.

idk.. if i get the extra money, i'm freaking going to just get it on the 21st with the online thing... no way i'm paying that much extra for activation when i can just go to the store and get it done for free..

Where are you getting this from? Sprint charges the activation fee, not RadioShack. It's $36 for new lines and $18 for an upgrade. Unless some place is running a promotion, you'll pay it at any place you buy your phone besides online at sprint.com. I don't know if you pay RadioShack directly for the fee or if it gets billed to your Sprint account.

Its a post here on the forums:

they called their radio shack and they told him that it was like, 36 or 39 bucks to activate the Evo 3D, and that it was "directly from sprint" and if it just gets charged through my account, that would be awesome. BUT if you go to sprint with a phone, they activate it for free. That's how i had my Pre Minus done, I bought it originally off Ebay for 100 bucks, and took it to sprint and they said that "as long as you already own the phone, its free for instore activation". So as long as i can just get the phone without activating it, then i can get it activated for free at sprint in their store..

Ok, I see. Yes, it's $36 for new customers / $18 for you since you're with Sprint already (assuming you aren't starting a new line). If you buy the phone at any Sprint store, they'll charge you the fee too and activate it before you leave just like Bestbuy and Radioshack. The only way to buy a new Sprint phone using an upgrade and not pay an activation fee is to buy it online at sprint.com (at least that's what sprint told me when I was trying to get them to waive the fee for me awhile back).

It's kind of like the tax thing some people seem worried about. Stores don't decide how to tax people, the government does that. It's not like it's part of the stores' profit.

Are you serious? Replaced two Pres that were patched and OC'd. If it makes you feel better just Dr. it and its like it was never patched.

Well, guess I'm on a family plan, so only my line gets it (though, I am disqualified for gold because of my employee discount, ha). I figured most people were on family plans to take advantage of lower monthly costs (everyone I know seems to be on one). I also don't know anyone that goes through phones yearly.. except one person.. but she goes through them because they magically crap out on her all the time, haha (iphone I think has helped, texting on a screen might be what saved her vs normal phones, she texted A LOT).

i've never ordered it online through sprint.. usually order online through Radio Shack, and just have it shipped to my door during launch date. then i turn on the phone and see it unactivated, take it to sprint, and they activate it. they always tell me "the fee is waived since its a phone you already own"..

I say drop Radio shack and anybody else that wants to charge an activation fee ... Buy the device directly from Sprint ... Their buy back program is better ($150 for Evo) and even in the store they will waive the activation fee ... And you can charge the phone to your bill for those who already have a Sprrint account .

My question is can Sprint Premier Customers buy the EVO3D on June 21st for Early Release AND somehow get the $150 back for the original EVO.

I havent seen that asked as of yet. If not I will go pre-order at Sprint Store and recieve free activation and in store trade in of $150 for the EVO

Thanks!!

It says right on there $150 rebate. The only downside is you won't get the credit on your account for about 2 months. I think thats ok. Money and Money. However i HATE rebates. I'm praying the 21st call ahead is instant rebates. Right now its looking a little hairy

so if you're already on the everything unlimited plan ($99 one) and you get an evo 3d, do you still have to pay the additional $10 for extra data? what gives?

yes Cenix, you have to pay the extra $10 cause its "premium data"

Anyway!!!

I JUST Got back from the Sprint store and Radio Shack, asking the managers almost every question on here, and here is what I've found out:

When you buy the phone on June 21st, it will NOT ship until LAUNCH DATE (June 24th) because of the simple aspect of that day being just that, the official launch date. any sales (as in, receiving/activating the phone) prior to that date, is a breach in some legal mumbo jumbo XD

The phone is supposed to come with the Green Hornet 3D pre-loaded regardless of store.

The activation fee for Radio Shack and Best Buy (or any other place for that matter) is $18 for upgrade, $36 for new contract. If you get charged more, you are over paying and should go to sprint to receive some sorta credit.

If you buy the phone In-Store (as in, an actual sprint store) the activation fee is free, as well as if you order online (didn't give details about the June 21st orders being free, just that online sales in general have free activation).

Trade in of the HTC Evo 4G/Shift will indeed be $100 for Radio Shack. Although right now the "pricing" is higher, the manager said that by the time the 3D comes out, the price will be $100 plain and simple...

Hope that helps everyone!

thanks for the response.

looks like their "unlimited" data plan is limited afterall... :(
