Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

While I'm still a little hesitant to believe that BGR article since October is right around the corner, it didn't occur to me until just now that they mentioned targeting original Droid owners coming out of contract which means Verizon might actually get the Nexus Prime if we are to assume that's what they mean when they say "the first Ice Cream Sandwich devices." And if their source isn't the same as Phil's then we now have two separate sources saying Verizon is at least one possible carrier.

If you believe BGR even had a source, which I don't. Their source was theirs own minds.

Also, was this the "leak" we were supposed to expect today or yesterday? If it is, I'm a little disappointed, we need some pictures asap, or some confirmation on final specs/carrier/release date. Anything, please! :p

nothing really new here, altho the analysis is kind of interesting. Intel as the "surprise oem" mentioned earlier in the thread?? idk about that one. i was pretty psyched about a Sammy Nexus; less so about an LG device. i'm not a huge fan of HTC, but the idea of the Krait (and oc'd to 1.8 ghz to boot) processor has me a little excited.

Next Nexus: Nexus Prime(3, Plus) Ready for Prime Time from Samsung, HTC or LG with 2011 or 2012 Release Date? - WIRELESS AND MOBILE NEWS

i'm a little hesitant to believe this report because of all the spelling errors and the fact that no one's even heard of intel coming out with a SOC on a phone soon, let alone the nexus prime

OG Droid owners were out of contract July 6th...

Not out of contract yet, we could just take advantage of the 20 month upgrade cycle.

Well let me rephrase: Early OG Droid adopters have been able to upgrade for a month now. The Nexus' demographic is not aimed at people coming off contract from a specific phone.

It wasn't coming from me, I was just quoting the article, I realize that when you sign a two year contract you can upgrade early at 20 months.

you are probably right that the Nexus is not directed at a specific demographic. but, i bet they know how many OG's were sold in the first 3-4 months of release (which is quite a large number, i suspect). i don't personally believe that it's mere coincidence that rumors of the Nexus started "leaking" around the time that the OG-launch-buyers were coming up on their 20 months. and, i don't personally think it's mere coincidence that the phone is rumored to launch around the 2 year anniversary of the OG launch. i don't think the OG owners are the only target, but i bet they were in the consideration.

a more significant consideration is, with dual core phones coming out, the desire to have a single OS that can integrate between phones and tablets. imo...

This is dying. I think ICS will come in October/November with a killer device. I just need to keep myself from buying the Bionic or S2 in September. Need some self control:'(

You guys should check this out, it's a pretty good read...

13 things we might see with the release of Android 4.0 in Q4 | Android and Me

I'm really curious to see what Ice Cream Sandwich looks like, Google has said it's going to be their most ambitious release to date, and I have a feeling they've got some pretty groundbreaking and revolutionary stuff in the works. We've heard it will have some type of facial recognition, I hope this means like instead of entering some kind of password or pattern to unlock the phone, they can have the phone scan your face, I don't know it's a cool idea. They showed a demo of the new camera API at I/O showing how they can track your face and adjust on screen objects to your viewing angle, pretty cool stuff. The music store should be cool too, hopefully they include a subscription service.

On another note, I've noticed that the phone versions of Android have been primarily based around portrait orientation, and doing stuff in landscape isn't ideal, but Honeycomb is the complete opposite, everything is optimized for landscape but a little weird in portrait. Hopefully they combine these in Ice Cream Sandwich, to make Android more user friendly in both orientations. If you've ever set Launcher Pro to enable auto-rotation, and tried to use it in landscape you know it's really awkward to use and the icons are spread out weird, but imagine if the homescreen looked like Honeycomb in landscape, hopefully now that they've done Honeycomb they could make landscape orientation on phones way more useful.

This is a few pages late, but to address the issue of bias: see tech crunch, they are apple fanboys and write all sorts of idiotic posts that point out anything negative about Google, android included.

Edit:
I just read the ics article on android and me. Since the new market already has some resources for the music store, I'm willing to bet other Google apps will get a similar tiled look and ICS will end up looking like some bizarre menage a tios of GB, HC, and WP7.

I don't know if any of you are familiar with SamFirmware, but they have very solid sources in Samsung and have released info on upcoming devices including one running Ice Cream Sandwich and sporting a 4.6" HD display. New specs of new Android and bada phones. - www.SamFirmware.com

After a quick Google search I found that "GT-I9250" on an official Samsung site. Don't get too excited though, there's no info on it at all, other than it being "Bar" shaped, which we probably would have guess already. I'll keep looking around to see if I can find any other info.

Well according to the site I posted, that's the device that lines up with the Nexus Prime-like specs.
