Agreed 100%. Check out the numbers from pre OG Droid release to 2 months post OG Droid release some time. They are even more ridiculous, and that was all marketing. Yes, it was a great phone, but Verizon's marketing department is the reason it sold the way it did.

Marketing was definitely the key early on. This Wired article gives really good insight into that. It's a great read. It wasn't Verizon's marketing department, though.

That's the point. It doesn't mean anything except that Verizon is spending more money to market the device.

It has everything to do with the arrangement between Verizon and the manufacturers. The manufacturers have to pay more for "Droid" branding, and in turn Verizon will more heavily market the device. That's it.

there are tons of Android devices out there. the only thing that makes a Droid a Droid is the fact that VZW pays money to Lucas Films, Ltd. to put that name on it.

When I think of 'Droid', I think of robotics, guns, explosions, cyborgs, red, motorola, and awesome.

When I think of iPhone. I picture Justin Bieber, emo dudes, Adam Lambert(you know what I mean), walled gardens, and Jobs pointing his finger at you and saying NO; to anything you want on your iPhone.

I would say the Droid campaign has been successful. The OG Droid has probably sold more units than any other "Droid" phone.

To me "Droid" mean's a manly version of iPhone, plain and simple. Can you picture guy's who go noodling using iPhones? Nope! I can picture them using Droids though.

That was a huge launch. I didn't even get my OG until January. There was a lot of hype and marketing behind that. Great device.

Anyone see the Samsung Note with it's Super AMOLED HD Display.

1280 x 800 resolution is nuts. That's the same resolution as my tablet.

God all this samsung news is such a tease for us who are waiting on the prime.

Yeah, me too. The current 4.5" screens are a touch to big for me. Any bigger than that is a definite deal breaker

If the Prime came with this size screen i would jump on it even though its so big lol. I think its too wide really, But if you take this size and squeeze it into the GSIIE4GT casing it would be perfect with ICS

I haven't seen the new Epic personally yet, bit it looks a tad too big for me. I want screen size and a sleek package. A nice even mix. I don't want a mini tablet

That's why they make different types of phones. This one isn't for you. There are others to choose from. Personally, I'd love it.

My arguement is still that the big slab phone never seemed to be the idea behind the Nexus. The Nexus seemed to be a sleek, well rounded phone, not a mini tablet. It'll be disappointing.

Being 100% sincere, an Epic 4G Touch (LED light, 1.2GHz processor, etc) with Ice Cream Sandwich and LTE on Verizon would be perfectly fine by me.

The only thing that upsets me about the SGSIIE4GT is the outdated screen resolution.
