Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

I will say, I don't see how the next Nexus can stay exclusive to any one carrier for too long. Would be a huge mistake for Google, and kind of against what they're trying to do. Google should have learned that from the last two Nexus. And we all know Verizon doesn't have the money to change Google's mind on that

agreed. IF we assume the latest name rumors are true (Galaxy Nexus), i would expect the other carriers to pick up the Nexus in late Q1 as an "upgrade" to the GS2.

I hope to God it doesn't take that long. If the Nexus comes out in October, it can't be any later than December for other carriers. Late Q1 is way too long. That's almost 6 months. I'll have little to no interest at that point.

Lol, and by the time we get any confirmation on Amy of those rumors, or the Nexus comes out, they'll be talking about phones with the next Gen processors.

Main reason I've been waiting for the Prime is the screen. I believe all of the current Verizon LTE phones are WVGA resolution, which just looks horrible IMO. 480x800 is fine on my 3.7" Incredible, but on a 4.3" screen it's pretty bad. I really don't see quad cores and full HD or smaller 720p screens becoming popular anytime soon. I think I'll get whatever 720p dual-core LTE phone is out first, since that will be a huge jump over anything Verizon has currently. I can't expect to see anything much better than the rumors for the Nexus Prime in at least 6 months.

Something with a poll listing maybe from 10/15-11/15 (But I imagine there's a limit of 10 choices) Should add some fun to this forum, but I'm afraid it will be seen as another "Oh what do you guys think of this time period" thread, since there's like 3 of them here already.

A) The iPhone is rumored to come out in October. Google wants to release the Prime to compete with it.
B) Verizon wants to bring it to the market to be competitive. Right now, VZW only has like four different 4G phones. That a horribly low inventory of the newest 4G technology. An October release date makes sense because of the HTC Vigor, iPhone, and others shortly coming on the scene.
C) Verizon thinks the Prime is awesome. They turned down the Samsung Galaxy S II over the Prime. October baby!

This is all just speculation from rumors. Gosh, I wish my Verizon contact (upper level Special Projects guy) would at least give me a bone to chew on. Anybody know any good gestapo techniques?

A) I think the iPhone stuff is overblown fanboy fantasy.
B) I don't see how having the phone in October vs. December changes anything. In fact, it competes against the bionic.
C) It could be argued that VZW turned down the GS2 because of the Charge and the fact it's not an LTE device.

I think when we see the Vigor will give us a better indication.

Im not seeing the media onslaught, and no pre-order gives you an idea of how much they still love the bionic....

Motorola blew the release of the Bionic on an epic scale. That phone should have been out in May. Every major phone in the next two months is going to be better.

I've seen a ton of commercials and I don't even watch much TV.

They botched the release for people like he, but most customers are clueless. It will sell well for a couple months.

First of all, the flagship Ice Cream Sandwich handset will most certainly have a more impressive resolution than phones that have been launched over the last two years. But past that, GSM Arena?s tipster also mentions that the Prime will sport a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display, which could mean that we?ll see the same resolution as we do on the Galaxy Note: 1280?800.

The tipster also mentioned that the Prime will take on the same contoured display as the Nexus S, and have a waist line of just 8.8mm. Oddly enough, the source said that Samsung has opted for an entirely metal chassis on this little guy, which is quite the deviation from its usual plastic casing.


I am foaming for this new Nexus device, had the Nexus-One, and now the Nexus-S 4G. This looks to be the biggest update to Android in a very long time, and this will be a Super-smartphone. Curious to see what Apple has in store with the iPhone5 to compete with this beast ?

I'm actually NOT curious about the iPhone stuff. Been there, done that with the iPhone. Two years ago I dropped my 3G, it stopped working right, and I didn't have the insurance. At the time when I bought the phone I didn't want to shell out another hundred bucks after dropping $315 for my first smartphone. Of course later I realized that I should've bought the insurance. After informing me that they wanted another $200 for a new iPhone, I left AT&T (thankfully), bought the droid, and never looked back.

True, Apple makes good hardware, but you're brainwashed/chained to their cyanide syrupy sweet system of Apple Fresh upgrades, bling bling apps, and fanboy mania. Sure, the Apple/iPhone world is mainstream now, but I’m tired of the Apple Evangelists trying to convert the world! Hello Apple!? Not everyone wants to drink the coolaid and buy your freaking iPhone. No thank you. I'm not checking in my brain at the door and buying another iPhone. Yep. I’d rather be part of the revolution.

The phone labeled "Bionic" that was available in May was a POS and everyone knew it. It had multiple problems, overheateing, LTE and battery. Pushing that phone out the door in May would have been a disaster of Blackberry Storm proportions.

I played with the Bionic and I will be waiting for the Prime. It is a nice device but I am still holding out for the Prime. I wish the Bionic was more than it is. While a great device the Nexus will be more of what will fit my needs.

If the Bionic were the Droid 3, it would be my perfect phone. Since its not a slider, I'm willing to wait.

Hopefully the prime will be so much better that I won't mind compromising.

Just saw this too. I an glad I decided to pass on the Bionic and wait two more months. I was very impressed by LTE in the Bionic. Can't wait for the Prime with LTE.
