Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

Went to a VZW store today and was ready to pick up the Razr. The salesguy said 'don't!'. He claimed the Nexus should be out in about a week and mentioned they all got to play with one yesterday and were wowed.

When even the VZW salespeople are telling you to wait you know it must be good. ;)

How true his estimate on the release date is I don't know.

With both of these phones out - don't know why any knowledgeable Android techie would ever pick up the razr versus the GN - such a more complete device!

Knowledgeable Android techies won't, the other 98% of Android users on the other hand...

Yeah, I told him I'm really not a big fan of Samsung having had the dismal Charge (currently have the Bionic). But he said to throw out everything you know about Samsung, the Nexus is that different.

We shall see.

its funny how there are a million rumors and a million different stories told about what a verizon employee told that person. I just got off the phone with a very nice lady and she told me she or anybody she has talked to knows of any date of when the Galaxy Nexus is released. I'm waiting just like all of you but All these rumors are getting me worked up....:)

Nice to see that the operating instructions have been posted to the Google.com/nexus web site. I spent about 60 minutes reading them over especially the browser section. According the the web page the manual will be available for download soon.

How many more moons need to pass till we see the !@#$ thing

Ya dun goofed. You're supposed to sacrifice a virgin when the moon is at its peak, not let is pass.
The only way to get this phone from Verizon is to summon it from the depths of bloatware hell, where the ice cream sandwich is slowly melting, as is the American dream, and my personal patience.
The Razr and Rezound are slowly pounding at the gates. I shall stand strong, but will admit that my resolve is weakened, as is my OG Droid.

American vaporware, where art thou?

wouldn't go that far. tried to get info out of my verizon store the other day and one of the sales man was trying to upgrade this wayy old lady, with glasses that were thicker than the nexus into buying a razr. she just kept asking for the ice cream.

im pretty sure she was sane....

Three more days in this God-forsaken pit of a waiting room!

Listen, I can't slap you or splash water in your face in a dramatic and cliche way while yelling "snap out of it, man!", but I can tell you to please, please, don't fool yourself into thinking this will be out on Monday.
We haven't even gotten the requesite blurry cellphone camera pictures of some guy fondling the phone a few days before release.
And if I remember correctly, Samsung Stratosphere accessories appeared in stores 2 weeks before the phone launched. Then the phone had a quiet launch with an announcement the same day.
Either case, I hope I'm wrong and I can have this phone ASAP.

I think I'll join the waiting room...

I was considering getting this phone but as the days went on and I've read the various posts predicting the release dates, and the viewed the unboxing across the street from the post office in London... and more predictions here in the states about just when WE will get it, seen pages of reviews online about how great it is... I have gone from thinking that looks like a cool phone maybe I'll get one to I HAVE TO HAVE THAT PHONE THE HOUR IT COMES OUT!! Now I am logging onto AndroidCentral every 10 minutes to see if they've announced the release yet!

Am I the only one there?!

I'm beginning to wonder whether Verizon is consciously trying to defer the Galaxy Nexus release until a date and time that optimizes the number of customers that will lose their 'New Every Two' $50 discount, which could be significant. Suppose there are a million people that are eligible for the discount but will lose it on or after December 8th. That's fifty million dollars captured by Big Red. In these days of corporate greed I would not be surprised by this maneuver.

I wonder what sort of responses a Survey Monkey survey would get to the question "Are you concerned you'll lose your Verizon $50 discount before the phone comes out?

Although I'm an inherent skeptic towards all rumoured release dates, I have to admit I woke
up last Friday hoping to order my Nexus - so it goes. But as to all the reasons given for the
delay...

It seems to me that VZW makes money 2 ways on the phones -
The recurring monthly revenue from the SERVICE contract and the net cost of SUBSIDIZING
the initial hardware. If I were running VZW, I'd release/sell all/any phones with the lowest
subsidy to the HW manufacturer before releasing any with higher subsidies. The monthly
revenue is the same.

Google & Samsung are stuck selling through a distribution channel owned and controlled
by VZW (think iTunes as an analogy).

I really hope it comes out on Monday, but personally doubt it.

i returned my rezound yesterday and was speaking to a store manager he told me he is waiting for the phone as well so he can get it, he doesnt understand what the hold up is on it because as he said they already have the cases and all accesories for the phone in the stock room.
