Verizon Marshmallow Incoming Today 2/16

My update went fine. Phone is pretty smooth and battery life seems a little better. I still have the bug when my wifi will disconnect randomly saying there is no internet connection when there is.

I turned on the wifi calling, but it deosnt seem to be working or I cant figure it out lol

So sense its not called Doze, is the Ignore Optimizations working the same as Doze??? Im yet the phone run down.

Doze is running as the default battery saver for all background running applicatons. The word "Doze" isn't used in G4 settings to describe this feature since it always works unless you don't want this optimization. Then you selectively turn it off.

To put it another way, Ignore Optimizations turns off this battery saver on those apps you don't want to sleep, but rather want to run normally in the background while the phone is idle. (Of course, the more apps you check off, the less battery savings you will see. )

I shouldn't need to turn off data when I turn WiFi on. Previously it would shutdown LTE when connected to WiFi without me having to turn data off, which I won't do, because I need it as soon as I leave the WiFi connection.

I would verify what the old indicator and new indicators are showing first, it may be like when someone decided to skew reception numbers differently and suddenly people were upgrading their os and seeing a reduction in their signal bars. The old indicator may have hidden some traffic (like talking to the towers) while the new one doesn't (marshmallow does look to be an android pass that tries to unhide some background processes).

My phone is very difficult to wake up once it's been down for a while since MM installed yesterday.
What can be done to fix that?

Don't know if it matters but nothing is checked under the Ignore Optimizations setting.

??? Not quite sure what you're saying here. I'm seeing the same thing and I'm not sure what that has to do with the 4g LTE symbols being illuminated while on WiFi. And I tried the suggested poster instructions and it did grey out the 4g LTE icon but once you turn off WiFi, you have to toggle your Data back on. Maybe I'm missing something in your reply.

I have the same issue, sometimes a reboot is the only fix

No, Ignore Optimizations is ignore Doze for those apps you check off.

We basically said the same thing. It's the Doze settings.

Um, okay...

Yeah, we shouldn't have to manually turn data off, wifi on, then wifi off, then data on - this should be done automatically when it comes in range to a trusted/remembered wifi connection.

Ok, it's normal. Nothing changed internally. What you assumed was your 4g connection sleeping was not. And the old indicator was not showing you every time the phone hits the tower. What was previously not counted as part of the data indicator now is.

When I upgrade I was planning on trying the following to test it:
1.) Activate Wifi Calling Settings
2.) Put phone in airplane mode
3.) Turn only Wifi back on
4.) See if it lets me make a call

This is how I tested Google Hangouts/Google Voice wifi calling.

So, I installed Marshmallow and cleared my cache. That pesky little 4G icon is still lit up but seems to be making no difference with power or data. Doze is excellent. If my phone sits for a little while, the battery graph will flatline and battery life goes way up; I've not seen that before on my G3 or this G4. Everything is working well; no complaints so far.

I got the download yesterday. I haven't noticed much different (a good thing) other than the fantastic development that Android Auto FINALLY works in my new VW GTI.

Every time i get a voice mail Verizon want to sing me up for Visual voice mail. I don't see away to opt out just hit the *86 under to get to voice mail. This is on MM

I get this even on LP (I'm holding off upgrading). It's like this and the camera app reset themselves every so often. I was hoping those bugs would have been fixed in MM.

looks like i've lost the ability to open google now from any screen by dragging up from the home button

Correct, with Google Now on Tap... You push and hold the home icon to open up Google. Once done you can select Google from right above the home icon.

Te Marshmallow update completely crashed my battery life.

My phone went from 11 hours kindle reading time down to 3.5 hours reading time, from 100% charge to the 15% warning. :(
