I've weirdly lost my double-tap-to-wake functionality. Installed MM yesterday, all went well. Cleared cache in recovery today, a bunch of random settings ended up resetting themselves. Everything is back to normal, but I still can't get the double tap to work. Anyone else see this?

Nova launcher, but it happens with stock too.
Have a google apps device manager on my phone, but that's always been there and never affected anything.

**edit - Glance View is gone too.

Got MM this morning, everything good so far. None of the issues discussed here, at least not as far as things that affect my regular use. I did not unmount and remove my SD card prior to the update, although I probably should have to be safe. I only keep music on there, but it's quite a bit. I use Rocket Player and it had no problems finding my music, so I didn't need to re-scan or anything.

One nice pro is it fixed a problem with text notifications I've had since the phone was new. I posted about it previously, that if I closed the screen from a text conversation, I did not get audio notifications from that person if they texted again. I had to be careful to close out that conversation before shutting the screen off, which was annoying if I was texting back and forth. A Sprint G4 user mentioned here that MM fixed that issue for him, and it has fixed it for me as well. I am getting all my text notifications no matter what screen I leave it on.

One potential con is I'm thinking my battery didn't perform quite as well today. I'm still not through a full 12 hours even, so more observation is needed, but I'm keeping an eye on it. I don't know anything about the Doze feature that's discussed here, I'll have to find out about that and see if something there can help me. I briefly went through to check on some of my normal settings that I disable to help battery life, ok google, gps, etc..little things like that. All my settings were retained, so I didn't immediately find anything that should hurt battery performance. But at this point, it might be all in my head. We'll see.

Painless so far.

Dumb question...

It says I have to activate "Advanced Calling" in order to use the Wi-Fi calling. Is there an additional fee to activate this? I can't seem to find info, but I don't put it past VZW for hiding something.

There's no additional fee. You have to activate the feature on both your account (via MyVerizon app or the website is fine) and in the G4's settings.

I updated on Wednesday. I did a FDR today.

I'm one who doesn't do that by default, and frankly resent having to do so now (or the common recommendation we have to as a regular practice).

So, it was a wonky upgrade that made me do it. I'm not even sure how to begin. Just lots of issues that I couldn't deal with suggesting the FDR was needed.

So far it seems things are running well now.

At least LG Backup does a pretty good job of easing the pain on these.

There is one caveat. Audio calls count as regular minutes. If you do a video call, the video portion will count against your mobile data plan unless you're on Wi-Fi. Most people have unlimited minutes, so that's not much of an issue. Most people are on capped data plans, so a video call could result in overages if you're not careful.

Updated it and now my screen won't turn on. The only way I can get it to turn on is by plugging it in the charger or pressing the power button repeatedly numerous times. Since my screen is currently cracked at the bottom Verizon can't send me a replacement. Any one have any ideas on how to try and fix this?

NOT a factory reset, no need to completely wipe your phone.
Goto settings/backup& settings down to the bottom, BELOW factory reset to RESET.
press that then reboot your phone if it doesn't do so by itself.
It will reset you phone to factory DEFAULTS not do a Factory Reset. Those are two different things.

You will lose your home screen picture and lock screen pic, your ring tone and notification tones will reset to default but all of your info and media will still be in your phone where doing a factory reset will take you back to a stock phone, just like it was when you got it new, except now running MM

I do it occasionally as a force of habit. I did wipe the cache partition before deciding I needed the FDR. In fact, not being able to get in to recovery consistently was one of my issues. I was able to get in eventually, but it was wonky.

I don't even have the video call part of Advanced Calling active (box is unchecked in the G4 settings). Thanks for the clarification.

How does one clear the cache partition?

Hold Power and Vol Down is still how you get there. Don't release either button until you actually see the Recovery menu with the wipe cache partition option.

I have had a hit or miss experience with it since the update, though. Although, I think it's better since I did the FDR yesterday.
